Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club US Travel Agent Purchased AA Flight to BA

  • 646 posts

A colleague is off to the US tomorrow for a conference. They are flying BA metal on an AA issued ticket. The ticket was purchased by the US client using their US based corporate travel agent.

The BA App won’t accept the ticket number. Is it best just to claim for missing Avios afterwards?

And, this is a bit silly question really, but how do you work out how mamy Avios and Tier points you’d earn from a US corporate travel agent purchased ticket?

Will the AA app accept the ticket number?

As long as his BAEC number is in the AA bookings is all that matters. There is no requirement for the booking to be in the App to earn points.

AA should be able to provide them with the BA confirmation numner which can then be used in the BA app to check in, select seats etc etc

You need to know the booking class to be able to work out the tier and avios. Should be on the confirmation from the travel agent Then go to wheretocredit .com and use the calculator.

Rather than calling AA try sending a DM on twitter (I refuse to call it X) with name of passenger and booking ref asking for the BA ref for it. They used to be really helpful on there.

The ticket number can be used to claim missing avios AFTER you fly.

Right now what you want is the booking reference to plug it on AA’s or BA’s app. You can then put your BAEC number to get the avios and TPs.

You can find how many TPs you will earn here: https://www.britishairways.com/travel/flight-calculator/public/en_gb

For the Avios, it very much depends how/who bought the ticket. Most certainly linked to price paid and his/her status.
