Hi all,
Have recently earned the 2 for 1 voucher with Virgin Atlantic. Want to travel to New York in the latter part of the year. My fee is up for renewal in July. I want to bin off the card as I think it’s a bit pants.
Would there be any problem with cancelling this card in June or July and then using the 2-4-1 voucher in November, for example? I know with the BA one, you have to hold an Amex at check-in desk.
I don’t even want to downgrade to the free one, as unlike Amex, Virgin open a separate credit card on my credit file.
My plan would be:
– Book flights in Feb or March
– Cancel Virgin ATLANTIC Rewards+ Card in July
– Fly in October or November
Can I do this, or do I HAVE to hold the card until after the flights?
Many thanks
You can cancel at any time. There’s no requirement to hold the card.
The voucher is valid for 2 years after it hits your VA account which you may or may not be able to see as a zero line entry on the Virgin Atlantic site in your transaction history.

Thank you!
Im in a similar position…
But can you also use the companion voucher and points if I book the flights AFTER I cancel the card?
