Some time ago I booked a flight to Cairo for two of us, using Barclays upgrade vouchers. A month ago I realised we needed to change dates so I called and changed thinking BA charged me £70 for this. Then – two or three weeks later – I got an email from them, saying ‘We need to speak to you about your British Airways booking – If you do not contact us then you may encounter issues with your reservation’ – why did they choose this wording making you worry? I’ve spent ages calling them and they said my £70 payment for the flight change failed so new tickets have not been issued, asked me to submit my credit card details again, the line was breaking, two advisers disconnected me, the third could not load their payment system, but eventually after 1.5 hours of me trying they managed to request my card details via email and said withing 3-4 days all will be sorted and new tickets will be issued. A week has passed, £70 not taken from my card, and the ticket has not been issued. Anyone can prompt what’s happening with BA?
So is your original flight cancelled? Is the Barclays voucher still gone from your account? The bad news is that you’ll probably have to call again as they only hold your card details for a limited amount of time (a week IIRC).
You need to keep calling BA. If you don’t have tickets issued (numbers starting 125) you will not be able to check in and won’t be able to fly.
How soon is your flight? They tend to take their time dealing with this although may run into the problem of the credit card falling off their records again. If it’s close definitely continue to pseter BA
I think there’s a problem with BA IT again. Someone posted an almost identical post to you over on FT. They wanted to change a reward flight from DEN-LHR-LIS and got the identical message and having provided the details are still waiting for the money to be taken and the flight to be ticketed.
Are you sure it was a genuine BA email and BA person you spoke to?
Thanks everyone for your comments. I called BA myself, so it’s definitely genuine. The flights are in October, so I’ll probably wait a bit. I have ticket numbers starting with 125xxx for our outbound flight, but not for the return which I was changing. At least we’re confirmed to fly to Cairo!
