Not that I expect to be flying through HKG any time soon, but just got this from Cathay:
We’re elevating our membership and rewards programme, and as part of this transition we’ll soon be retiring your Registered account with us. You’ll still be hearing from us; however from noon (Hong Kong time) on 27 April you will no longer be able to sign in to your account on any platform.
Any idea what they’re doing?
I think they are merging all the different programs and logins into one unified system.
The thot plickens. Surely they’re not going to ‘do a Qatar’?
Dear member,
You may have received an email from us recently in relation to your Registered account and the changes that we’re making.
We apologise if this caused you any concern or confusion and would like to take this opportunity to clarify the upcoming changes in more detail.
What we realised was that offering three alternative relationship programmes (Registered account, Marco Polo Club and Asia Miles) was quite confusing and inconvenient. The changes we’re making are about simplification. Soon, there will only be one account for everything you need at Cathay Pacific. We’re aware the communication of this change was probably overly complex, and we’re sorry for causing any confusion during this transition. Rest assured, it will get simpler soon!
The Registered account that you joined through our website is essentially our basic account option – offering faster bookings, easier booking management, and personalised communications. We’ll be phasing out Registered accounts in due course as we unveil our refreshed, simpler membership and rewards programme. This means that from noon on 27 April, your Registered account will no longer be operational.
If you are currently a Marco Polo Club or Asia Miles member, your membership is unaffected, and you can continue to sign in with your membership number or username as usual. We are writing to inform you about the change to your Registered account sign-in only, and there is no further action from you required, but if you are not yet a Marco Polo Club or Asia Miles member and you wish to continue hearing from us, please feel free to click here to find out more about how you can do so.
Over the coming months, we’ll be bringing together Marco Polo Club and Asia Miles under one Cathay membership programme, simplifying the way you interact with us.
Once again, we’re very sorry for any concern or confusion.
