does anyone know if this counts for bookings already made??
3rd November 2024 at 11:20 in reply to: Barclaycard website (not app) download PDF/CSV errorayearinmx 45 postsI had problems with BC and getting PDFs of my account before. I needed some PDFs from when I first opened the account a few years ago and the website wouldn’t provide that functionality. I got in contact with BC and they said they could post me the paper copies, I asked why they couldn’t just send me the file of whatever was being printed. Computer said no. I argued but to no avail… they sent me about 20 pages of paper by post, twice.
ayearinmx 45 poststyping in Quito, gives me GYE and not UIO…. UIO is there if I type UIO, but it should come up for Quito (or potentially both should). I definitely second the advice that someone typed above that you can enter country searches which then lists the airports in that country
anyway, it looks very promising, just something I noticed
ayearinmx 45 postsi was very nearly in the position to need to do this, having believed i would be on 1495TP after my trips for my membership year. Thankfully I got a ‘bonus’ double TP thanks to my rental car becoming 5 days due to me flying back later on the Monday, than I arrived on the Thursday
ayearinmx 45 postsi use hotels.com still because i go through TCB and because 90% of my 100+ rooms per year are business, i am essentially getting cashback for business purchases… price doesn’t affect me too much as i am given freedom of choice and i stay in middle of nowhere locations so brand hotel rewards systems aren’t worth my time…
if anyone has any better suggestions though, about how i can benefit more from the business booking personally, i’d definitely be interested…
29th September 2024 at 10:47 in reply to: BA Holidays double tier points offer – MASTER THREADayearinmx 45 postsyea those are my thoughts, a UK-outbound-only flight is more likely to slip through than a UK-inbound-only… oh well, gonna make Gold a little harder to hit, but kinda wanna do it as i doubt i’ll be able to if/when the ‘TP for spend’ gets implemented
29th September 2024 at 06:14 in reply to: BA Holidays double tier points offer – MASTER THREADayearinmx 45 postsThe UK start & end requirement is one of the more recent changes. Other permutations would have worked in the past, but you shouldn’t expect them to now.
Yea I don’t remember this stipulation before either. The Istanbul double TP did happen earlier this month, so I guess it slipped through the cracks but they seem to keep adding these rules and narrowing the options
28th September 2024 at 20:39 in reply to: BA Holidays double tier points offer – MASTER THREADayearinmx 45 posts“The booking must be made by a UK resident and must originate and end in the UK.”
Does anyone know how strict BA are with this? Ive had double TP credit for a flight + car that is just a single flight LHR-Istanbul. But I’m looking at doing a single flight+car back from Buenos Aires-LHR and don’t know whether I should expect double or not…
ayearinmx 45 postsI got asked “where have you been?” at Calais on the UK side of things coming back on the Tunnel… “all your life?” “all my life?” “in the last 6 months?” “on this last trip?”
depending on how i’m feeling… i either give a very detailed answer, involving my entire itinerary, or I just list the place I woke up in and drove from that morning. The information goes nowhere and is basically worthless, but they’ve obviously been told to ask it
ayearinmx 45 postsGet another UK passport… if you’re travelling for work, get them to sponsor you
ayearinmx 45 postsi’m with Managemybooking… i need some recommendations too
and I appreciate @can2 sentiment, but there are 168 (approx) options and having people narrow it down (either good or bad) would be highly helpful
ayearinmx 45 postsyea, it’s only on the flights I want that the mixed cabin isn’t allowed… there is only one “tab” across both columns, where as the other flights have Economy and Business tabs
unfortunately i can’t do Linate, as I fly to Sardinia from MXP and also have my office close to MXP
i haven’t had to ring up to do stuff, since the covid days so i guess i’ve just been put off doing it haha
17th February 2024 at 22:09 in reply to: Medical emergency turnaround, halfway across Atlanticayearinmx 45 postsupdate, I got 20TP for the JFK-PHX leg of the trip as well, in addition to the 20TP for the LHR-“PHX” leg… no extra avios
8th February 2024 at 23:24 in reply to: Medical emergency turnaround, halfway across Atlanticayearinmx 45 postsyou guys were right, accredited with LHR-PHX, no mention of any other flights… it’s all as if nothing went wrong
6th February 2024 at 14:53 in reply to: Medical emergency turnaround, halfway across Atlanticayearinmx 45 postsThanks for the advice. I figured it would come under extraordinary circumstances, and that’s fine, because they were.
I am curious about the TP/Avios though because I flew on a new ticketed flight, that I checked in for. So I’m surprised they can tell me that it will just come under the umbrella of an old flight, that didn’t get me to my intended destinationayearinmx 45 postsahh so essentially, as long as it’s the same person, and in this case i’d be flying from somewhere in Americas back to UK, I could use the ‘second half’ of the 241 on a completely different trip… but does it need to be booked at the same time, or would it be case of booking the second half, and then asking for 50% avios back?
ayearinmx 45 postsCould you use the voucher for 2 of you, one-way, then book a separate inbound for the 2nd person? As stated, it’s not the best use of a voucher but if it’s that or have it expire, it’s better than losing it altogether. You then still have the other “half” of the voucher if you wanted to undertake another trip with that person, within the rule of the voucher.
My feeling is that if you turned up alone for the inbound flight it would be fine as you’re the voucher holder, but if it was the other person it could potentially cause issues if they pick up on this.
i had considered that, and according to my maths, it actually works out the same approx cost… but the ability to use the 241 “again” for half a trip does sweeten the pot
thank you for that additional information, which i wasn’t aware of
ayearinmx 45 postsunfortunately i do not know the exact date when I’ll be travelling back. My plans are fluid, where as he is definitely going to be returning on a set date.
then there is the matter of if indeed i will actually be returning from PHX, and it all gets a bit more complicated.
i guess i was hoping that someone had experience of only one person on a 241 flying, and it being ok…
ayearinmx 45 postsit will be the non-voucher holder who’ll be flying using the 241 on the way back. Me (the voucher holder) will be staying longer in PHX. My concern is that he won’t be allowed to fly, unless I check-in alongside him. Although I could in fact check-in, but then not board… but that’s a rabbit hole I don’t think would be wise to go down
i have 3x 241 and i don’t use them precisely for things like this… my plans are always different than other people (and I fly solo 99.9% of the time anyway)
for 120000 avios + £600, I can get two people return to PHX (Eco out, Business back). A one way eco PHX-LHR is 30000+£64.07, so even if i do take a later flight, for 150000+£664.07, I can get five flights, which I don’t think is too bad considering the schedule
13th December 2023 at 12:23 in reply to: My draft Thailand / Japan itinerary – suggestions pleaseayearinmx 45 postsDay one in Hiroshima was only only a few hours as I had a flight from Hokkaido-HND and then train where I saw Mt Fuji clearly, so I just wandered around a bit. I did Miyajima on the second day (hiking up Mt Misen), and then all the Hiroshima Bomb area and the castle on the third day. Then I took the train to Kobe, dropped bags and took the train back to Himeji for the castle. Today I hiked up Mt Maya and then hiked to the Venus Bridge. Tomorrow i will check out Harborland.
Friday, I will get early train to Osaka, drop bags off, go up Umeda Sky Building, look at Tenmangu and then have dinner with a friend. Saturday the castle Dotonbori, Sumiyoshi Taisha. I also want to do the Tempozan ferris wheel and head up near the Hiraoka Jinja for a hike at some stage but that’ll depend on weather.
13th December 2023 at 11:50 in reply to: My draft Thailand / Japan itinerary – suggestions pleaseayearinmx 45 postsi’m in Japan now (first time), Kobe to be precise… i flew into Tokyo, then up to do 5 days in Hokkaido (rental car), back to Tokyo on plane before train to Hiroshima (bought the 21-day JR pass before price increase). 3 days there, then 3 here in Kobe, then I’ll do 3 in Osaka, 4 in Kyoto and 5 in Tokyo
3pm check-in has been standard so far, but all the hotels have allowed early bag drop-off. I book close to the JR train stations, checkout in the morning, train to the next city and then drop bags off and still have most of the day. I can pack/unpack in about 30mins and have managed to do some nice hikes and seen a lot of stuff i’ve wanted to see.

ayearinmx 45 postsThanks. The back button is my usual tool, but if there are multiple pages of comments then it’s becomes useless, so this is a small but welcome (re)addition 👍
22nd October 2023 at 03:42 in reply to: Driving on wrong side of the road (for Brits)ayearinmx 45 postsSpeeding tickets in Belgium, Austria, Germany, Latvia, Slovenia, Romania, Italy, France with varying methods of delivery from being stopped, to getting tickets through the post, in rental cars and in my own vehicle… Nothing has affected my UK licence
Some countries will stop you entering their border (if flying) until you have paid a fine (from driving)… But the good thing is that Customs/Dogane don’t seem to care about outstanding tickets in their country
14th September 2023 at 09:50 in reply to: Avion Express operating some British Airways flightsayearinmx 45 postsjust come back from Antalya on an Avion Express operated BA flight, with Club Europe…. zero legroom (i’m only 5ft8), no recline, tray tables are too small
the only somewhat impressive aspect was that there was no curtain, but they made damn sure that no economy passengers used the front toilet
it is disgraceful that BA can get away with offering a CE price for a flight operated by this plane
23rd July 2023 at 18:21 in reply to: Qatar Avios flight, oneworld Emerald paying for seat selectionayearinmx 45 postsI’ve had similar issues with Avios redemptions on BA metal, where it defaults to my BAEC (blue) account and won’t let me add my OWE account. The solution that I’ve found works for me (there may be others):
– Go to Finnair web site and Manage Booking
– Add your OWE FFP details
– Delete your BAEC/other (non-status) FFP details (this is the important bit, it seems)
– Go back to BA (or possibly QR in your case) web site where you should now be able to select seats for freeThank you! This worked for me and I have since chosen my seats. Much appreciated
