    Morning from rainy Bromley, grrr.

Anybody got any feedback on The Regent in Porto Montenegro ?

Any building / room preferences etc? Found a very nice deal for October but as always any HFP tips are most welcome.

Worth taking a look at the comments on the review of the Hyatt that ran few days ago – https://www.headforpoints.com/2024/04/29/review-hyatt-regency-kotor-bay-montenegro/ as there’s a number that relate to the Regent.

FWIW I’ve also taken advantage of what I assume is the same ‘Winter Escape’ offer that you are looking at for April next year and there was nothing that put me off!

Not specifically staying there but we went to the One and Only in Portonovi a few weeks back which was great. The reason we didn’t go to the regent was a number of the facilities in lower season were closed so might be worth checking that if they are important.

There are other travel agents out there in U.K. who offer the same service as Bon vivant, I won’t mention them on here but I do use someone else as I found sometimes the help wasn’t what I wanted before.

Thanks just to let you know Accor are doing a third night free promotion in fairmonts including Ajman at the moment via luxury travel agents like Emyr. So might be worth considering as they are cancellable.

Hiya. Maybe not one that you have looked at but it is lovely and peaceful and has a shuttle to the mayhem of the town is the Fairmont in Marrakech. We stayed there in January for a few nights.

Thank you, we found a small problem with our ideas of Victoria falls, November is peak low water season so there is minimal falls to see. I think we might have to change that part of the plan.

Thank you all, we will look at the different airports.

    Hi all

Thanks for all the help and advice BAH were really good they moved our flights and hotel forward 7 days which suited our plans and the same flights. The cost difference was £350 but was waived by BAH without any discussion.

    Thanks Chris

Thanks we aren’t looking to get compensation, we have spoken to BA who have allowed us to move our flights a week earlier on the original flight times. Now we need them to move the hotel as it is part of a BA holiday, but the team closed for business at 8pm so the helpful call centre person couldn’t get it finished. We are waiting for a call back tomorrow.

Hiya. We flew in CS twice in last 2yrs with our toddler. I wouldn’t agree that people say the two middle seats aren’t good. Agreed you can’t hold hands or help them but with the screen open between the seats you can lean forward and speak to your little one and we did that on take off and landing and it was fine. I would personally take 4 middle seats in 2 rows and alternate child adult adult child so you can easy get out to help the child in front/ behind.

Thank you everyone. We stay in all types of hotels from luxurious like the one and only and raffles in Singapore but also much cheaper lower quality ones, especially for shorter stays where just sleeping. ideally would need space for our daughter and a bar for me after she goes to bed. We are looking to go for the Christmas markets and Tivoli as we did all the tourist stuff before.

I will check out the suggestions.

They are really popular, seatspy will give you some indication on availability but when I check recently there were only the odd date in 2024 and even then only 2 tickets for business.

Not sure if you are looking for biz or another class but Japan is very popular.

Thanks everyone – lots of options. I think the yoyo is the only formally cabin approved stroller (?). Will try to test out some of these in person.

There is also a silver cross one which we have used with BA, Lufthansa, Swiss which all haven’t had issues with and folder up into an overhead locker and looks like a small suitcase with a handle to roll out.

in reply to: Lounge access when status holder is a child
    chrisw1983 49 posts

You’re over thinking this. It’s perfectly possible for a 6 month old Silver BAEC baby to guest their 18 year old accompanying sister into a lounge as long as they arrive together. It doesn’t matter who is the member as long as there is 1 adult & no more than the maximum permitted number of guests in the party.

(& yes a 6 month old can travel on a child fare that earns TP’s & therefore have status).

Indeed our daughter is silver and most likely will be gold early in 2024 with planned flights. She is 2.5yrs old. It is ironic at some point she might be gold longer than is due to different tier point years. I am sure she can guest us in!

My wife and I stayed at raffles pre refurb and it was the best hotel experience we have had. From the butlers to Singapore slings in the bar to the greatest Sunday brunch. It is very old school with its looks and style and definitely isn’t as big and vast as some resort hotels

The only way to do this really is to search by date on ba.com, using your voucher. SeatSpy can do a separate search for the MAN-LHR sectors but won’t tell you if the departure times fit with your long-haul connection. Also, SeatSpy can’t see the extra availability the 241 opens up, and this is often departing from MAN or other regional airports.

Thank you for the reply that’s what I thought was the case. It’s the extra availability which is good but hard to find.

B4 parking is really good and underground secure. You can register on their app / website before and just drive in and out and they bill you for the hours.

Thank you, that is helpful we have flown a lot to east coast America. We hoping for something different this time, we will also need to pay a cash ticket for our daughter.

F seats are pretty few and far between and it’s case of just keep checking or set up an alert on SeatSpy. Best availability tends to be east coast USA though other destinations do pop up from time to time.
Business availability is quite good unless you want a really popular route like SYD or MLE at peak times.

Linked but not the same question, but are there specific routes where getting to business or first class seats are easier to access than others? I have a new BA Amex voucher and just starting to research routes for next year.

We had a similar problem with our 2year old. It was sorted by calling BA phone line.

What are your requirements that the hotel needs to offer for pre-dinner cocktails, dining and breafast?

We would ideally like a nice bar for pre drinks cocktails and a night cap. Doesn’t need to have a restaurant as we will go out somewhere for dinner.

I think somewhere around 5th Avenue and Central Park would be good. Previously we stayed at the Lotte Palace Towers which were v good.

I’m considering a short trip next year as I’ll have an expiring Virgin voucher and still haven’t flown in UC! (As long as US cities don’t go even further downhill in the meantime, anyway). I’m thinking either the Conrad or IC Barclay. If I had the budget it would be the Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons!

Thanks. We flew UC a few years back and have to say it was a nice experience and the clubhouse in Heathrow is really v good.

Have you contacted Emyr? He is really helpful and will send you a list of suggestions with prices and what perks are included. I think the biggest factor is whereabouts in NYC you’d prefer to be.

Thanks. We don’t really mind where to stay we have been to NYC a few times before and as it is one night we will probably do a bit of shopping and use our Amex platinum dining credit when we are there. Emyr I found was very good before but I had to give him some options, so was looking for a few thoughts to help.

As a hotel option we stayed in the claridges, which is not related to the London one. But it did have a lot of old school charm and peaceful place for a few days.

in reply to: How long silver for?
    chrisw1983 49 posts

If you earn enough points to be Silver between 9th and 30th November, you will be silver for the whole of this TP earning year, and the next one ie till November 2024

Thank you and I assume if I make it to gold in 2023 prior to Nov 23. I will be gold until Nov 24 and soft land to silver nov 25
