For the record, the Virgin code came within 24 hours which I then needed to redeem for a Eurostar code which arrived instantly.

Of course there’s added value, all I’m saying is that the price of the flight on a LCC is £40-60 if you need baggage compared to £100.

How did you get £100+ using Avios? Tokyo Haneda to Okinawa costs 10,000 Avios + £3.80 in economy, for example.
You just answered your own question. £103.80 for a flight that’s about half that on other carriers.

So, out of interest, what happens if you still have the BAPP card ending xxxx 1234 – albeit that it has been cancelled.
If you show them the card, with your name on it – and they swipe it and it doesn’t work – what’s the problem?
Exactly. The wording is show/bring the card. They aren’t going to charge anything to it and there’s nothing to say that it still needs to be active.

Why didn’t you fill up water in the lounge?
And did you really let your children litter the ocean with presumably plastic water bombs? 🙁
I refer the honourable @cin3 to the answer I gave on water at 21:48 last night.
Sorry just saw this. Simplest would be to just ask for water or use the bathroom taps.

Called and they claim zero availability on either route. Has anyone been able to book an ex-EU redemptions to the US at all?

If you mean you can’t get a price from the website, give them a call and they’ll price it manually for you.
I can’t even see the flights being available. Works fine for other routes.
And calling is painful but if that’s the only option…

agreement in principle,
What was the agreement in principle?
But excellent work. I know how stressful doing these cases on your own can be.
And agree with others that you probably should have gone for written judgment as you would have done well.

IB crew was awful even to me as a Spaniard. I think this is what gets them the bad rep. However food was amazing (served by course), wine is excellent and the Barajas Lounges are ok too. Bad aspects would be the lack of snacks (so don’t be hungry mid flight) and again the crew attitude who sometimes feel like they are annoyed of being there.
Return flights LON-MAD-BOG-LON (via MAD) were GBP 1,400 for J this summer which is excellent value since taxes on BA would be GBP 1,000 on an Avios redemption. (I wonder if spending a few days in Madrid reduced the UK levy)
Sorry but if you are paying £1000 surcharges on a biz redemption to BOG you are doing it very wrong. Should be about a quarter of that ex-MAD.
Also people recommending to avoid BOG are mad. Amazing food scene, decent theatre and live music and fantastic culture everywhere.

As others say, due to the flecha shape of Tenerife, the relief of Teide and the trade winds and movement of the Azores anticyclone, weather varies a lot across the island and changes rapidly.
For culture get to the North and East os the island or, better still, go to La Gomera or La Palma.

A self guided tour is a good way to waste a potentially amazing holiday.
Just do things independently.

IB over BA every single time. Obviously BsAs incomparable to Montevideo but if people haven’t found great culture in Monte they obviously haven’t been trying hard enough.
Patagonia is obviously amazing but you’d need at least a few weeks there to scratch the surface.

Cancun is great as long as you avoid the tourist areas. Holbox is massively overrated. Cozumel is okay if you are a nitro and rated diver. Mujeres and Tulum are hell on earth. Mérida is great if you speak Spanish so can avoid all the monoglot tourists.
Self driving is fine but you really don’t need a car. And do anything to avoid any sort of tour in Mexico…
