You’ll be fine to leave it until tomorrow, and also to add an economy leg to MAN (I don’t think they have PE, just different economy fares). Easiest to do it on one call, I would think. Don’t ask them to merge the bookings as this isn’t what happens and ends up complicating things!

I don’t know if your luggage allowance will be affected though with being in different cabins.

Thank you, I will call tomorrow.
The luggage allowance should be fine, I am only intending on a single 23kg per person – as I am making some short hauls in South America.

Firstly thanks to everyone for the advice when I asked earlier in the thread. It was very useful and I really appreciated people taking the time to explain things. I have booked my long hauls, but still have a couple of questions for the users with a bit more experience.

I have now booked the following, all on the BA website
OUT: Madrid > Buenos Aires – Iberia – Business – I used the Companion voucher
IN: Sao Paolo > Madrid – Iberia – Business – I have paid using the full avios and need to claim the 50% back

I have only just booked the inbound at 00:00 today. How long do they allow for me to claim the 50% avios back, do I have to do it today?

I would like to add on an Iberia short haul flight to the inbound. Madrid > Manchester. This is just over a 3 hour connection, and Iberia offer this connection as a single booking on their site.

This is only available tomorrow, so can I just call and ask that this is added on and pay any difference?
Should I just do the avios refund and the short haul on one call tomorrow, or 2 different calls?
And finally, the short haul only has Economy/Premium Economy as it is Iberia Express – will they allow me to add that onto the single booking even in a different class? I don’t care about the class of the short haul, it is just for convenience of checking hold luggage in all the way through.

    Thank you

    @jdb
Thank you. I do have enough avios to cover it if needed. I am still toying with the same outbound and then coming back to Madrid from Brazil. Then making my own way back to Manchester on a separate booking.

As I am looking at Iberia off peak dates it is a considerable saving in avios (60k), than coming back to the UK. But slightly higher taxes from Brazil > Spain, than Bra > UK.

When I started planning this trip I was going to do UK > Brazil, then Argentina > UK. By swapping the route I will do in South America, and starting in Madrid, it saves almost £1,000 in taxes. That was a bit of an eye opener.

Thank you. I will try to look into the surcharges, I was unaware of that, so thanks again.

    Hi,

Sorry to ask the question but does any one know if this planned route would be ok within the open jaw rules?

I plan to fly out from Madrid to Argentina (with Iberia), then back from Brazil to the UK (with BA).
    So it would be
Madrid > Buenos Aires – with Iberia
Rio de Janeiro > Manchester (via LHR) – with BA

It saves quite a lot in tax, and at least 50k avios.

    Thank you
