Chased up on live chat and had the following.

    – Confirmed both products held for 4 months
    – Eligible for the 100k avios

Rewards added directly to the BA Executitve account
Can take up to 8 weeks from 24/02

    A promising response

‘I received 26,500 Avios today. 25,000 for premier joining bonus (for switching a current account) and 1,500 Avios rewards. No sign of the big one.’

Same here, If I do not get the 100k after swtiching all my personal banking to Barclays I will be very annoyed.

    Daiboy1980

Applied on the 22nd October – ID etc all verified same day and account active. 100k email received today.

    Daiboy1980

I have followed all the steps Rob has instructed. However, no emails re the 100k points. A little bit nervous, as Barclays have never filled me with confidence.

Any timescale on the confirmation of eligibility? Not willing to switch my banking unless the 100k materialise.

Any cash addance charges? Like Virgin Now apply?

Can confirm HMRC payments do not attract a fee or interest, my July statement has been generated and paid….3 separate HMRC payments near end July 2022….

Well, that is a most welcome turn up for the books!

Totally agree – this is more likely to result in a full account audit and closure rather than you getting any refund.

I’ve benefited to the tune of 350k+ points over the last couple of years doing the revolutionary shuffle and when I got hit with a £125 cash advance fee in July, on my regular £2.5k cycle, I just took it on the chin and moved on. Had a few good trips on VS metal out of those plus the 2-4-1 vouchers and more to come.

The last thing you should be doing is drawing attention to unusual patterns of transactions if you want to hold onto your VS card – you would be wise to look for other opportunities instead!

Fully agree with this poster. I have had multiple NYC UC trips, numerous 2-4-1 vouchers, and a load of points to half the price of my holiday. I got stung last month for £285, however, although annoying, I do not want to push my luck. I have done very very well out of this to date, and will accept my penance and move on.

Interesting to see the outcome of your complaint.

Virgin themselves killed my VAA card for me. Silly redemption prices after having initially killed off all redemptions at the time I was booking, curve hasn’t touched my virgin card in months.

Does the HSBC world elite have the same cash advance issues?

Try it and let everyone know.

If you are willing to wait until January 2023, then I can!

has anyone actually confirmed that payments to HMRC attract the cash advance fee?

Would appreciate some confirmation of this too!

If it does, surely that is the end of Curve? Other than curve fronted, it is just another card.

Just noticed some whopping charges on my Virgin card and now I am here.
    Two questions
    1) if I go back in time to my HSBC debit card, will Virgin refund the 5% cash advance fee?
    2) any confirmation that HMRC will attract a 5% fee? If so, then Curve is essentially useless to me

    Cheers

Going back in time doesn’t help because Curve refunds it as a separate transaction (as explained to me by Virgin CS), had it been refunded as the original transaction with the original reference it would. I spoke to Curve but it didn’t go anywhere (in fact had to wait 8 days for the first response). And hence decided to cancel the Metal as it is virtually useless now.

Judging by other’s comments HMRC attracts the fee as well.

Thanks for the clarification, so essentially the Curve Fronted option is pointless now, as it would cost 5% of the transaction to obtain the points, making it un feasible.

So Curve metal, will be cancelled.

Do we know if HSBC world elite follows the same 5% charge for HRMRC?

I used a company called DAM health, they were the cheapest locally and had one down the road from me.

Tested at 10:00 and the results were emailed, and on their portal at 10:25

    Very impressed to be fair.

Obbiously this is just my own experience

‘How do flights with Virgin Points work?’

    They don’t lol!

    They do!

Had 2 x returns in UC this year, premium points booking upgrading to UC with the CC voucher.

    NYC I assume?

Outside of that route, the availablilty is truly awful

    Nope

in reply to: How to activate Apple TV+ etc
    Daiboy1980

I couldn’t activate News+ but I already receive that as another benefit through my mobile contract. I wonder if it detects that you already have an offer active and doesn’t let you add Barclays as an additional one

I don’t have Apple News+. I didn’t even get as far as signing in with my Apple ID.

Same error message today, currently on the phone to Barclaycard (number on the back of the card). Dude has no idea and is currently messaging “Barclaycard”.

Agent said it is a known issue, some features are not yet available. Will be notified by SMS or email when available.

Quick enough to set up the £20 monnthly payment though are they not? Such an absolute sh*t show of a launch.

    Nothing works!

    ‘Sorry, something’s gone wrong.

This should be the strap line for the whole launch!!

Replacement card arrived today, connected to curve, registered with app and the enveolope was sealed!

Quite astonishing that this impresses me, they have set the bar very low to be fair!

    Daiboy1980

I am still awaiting my replacment card (cancelled my received card due to the amount of personal data that had been potentially exposed)
No response from my registered complaint to be replied to or even acknowledged.

As others have mentioned, if this card was a precursor for Premier Banking Switches etc it has been a colossal failure. There is no way I would switch to Barclays Premier banking.

I understand that some issues happen, however, it has been a car crash from start to finish on this launch.

in reply to: Anyone used this with Curve, Ernie, Che, etc yet?
    Daiboy1980

No, someone bragged on here about all the MS they’d done one night with details of some of their huge balances about 21.30, I think. JDB said a contact at Creation, probably someone he’s known outside of Creation for a long time, emailed him referring to the particular bragging post (not by a regular poster) on here and saying it was “the straw that broke the camel’s back”. i.e. That post was what made Creation finally decide they’d had enough (I don’t know how to say zis in a French accent).

This was mentioned in above linked emails:

“All this is clearly already known to each of the organisations on this email and is widely discussed in
completely public blogs many of which even carry your advertising. I read yesterday of one person recently
having done this to the tune of £150k in a single month, much to the annoyance of another who had only
dared to go as far as £70k in a month! Another boasted of a resulting five night stay at the Six Senses Douro
Valley (an IHG hotel), one of the top hotels in Europe, all funded by [REDACTED] and fintech
company shareholders. I hope this wonderful perk will soon be provided to ordinary customers, rather than
just those who are systematically misusing your products and gaming the system.”

Wouldn’t the card holder require a £225k credit card limit to receive £150k of points?
