    If I had not prebooked I would have had a 90 minute wait. The Food in the lounge was basic, BUT you can use the PP as a few outlets in the airport, so my suggestion woudl be to eat at one of those then goto the lounge for drinks / relaxation. Be aware they close at 21:00 sharp.

    Many thanks to both. I raised a ticket with the Lounge people via their webiste, and got the standard will reply in 7 working days…blah blah BUT in fairness to them they replied with in 90 mins. Their site is accurate and for the moment, and No1 closes at 13:30. They will review this through the year.

    I suspect this will put extra pressure on My Lounge especially on a friday so a prebook looks to be essential

    I don’t know how you found it, but last time I had the displeasure of sharing that lounge with four babes-in-arms and several small children. The children excitedly entertained themselves for about 20 minutes with an indoor running competition (the girl won, IIRC) while the parents looked on indifferently. Three of the babes in arms cried incessantly, and the fourth was only silent because Dad shamelessly and tunelessly gave us a high volume rendition of Old MacDonald whilst pacing the lounge.

    I have never been so glad to leave a lounge in my life…until I found myself in exactly the same position on the aircraft. I haven’t been back to Tenerife since. I can’t cope with a 4-hour flight under those circumstances.

    There’s a killing to be made for an enterprising airline that nominates a couple of flights a day to popular family destinations as being adult-only. Much better than killing the parents.

    Total opposite for me, no kids, most people were beign quiet…

    The Montaña Roja Lounge is airside, after security control. Once you have passed through the control, turn left and you will find the lounge just before the escalators to the boarding gates and the commercial zone. its around gate B12

    Food oferings: Cold – usual cheese / ham / Jamon / salads (tune & potato) . Hot- Pasta, spanish mealballs, some veggie rice, tortilla

    As an update. I arrived Fri evening at 20:30. Almost no passengers there. A helpful BA person directed me to checkin section E. No queue, lots of staff. Bag was dropped and I was out of the airport within 10 mins. A superb service that I will use again.

    Also I was able to use the free Hatton Cross Underground link to T5. Many thanks toHfP for this tip

    By contrast Sat am at 07:30 was massive queues at the airport

    🙁

    Having done a few country searches, it looks a bit rubbish.

    USA = 0 of 32
    Canada = 0 OF 8
    German 1 of 11
    france 2 0f 5
    austrailia 0 of 9
    china 16 of 93
    Mexico 0 of 9

    where as Spain 13 of 13!!!

    I got bored at this point!!

    Does anyone know if I look at add someone as an additional card holder will HSBC do a credit check on them? The questions on the form suggest it might, looking to add a relative who is traveling a lot, but has just become self employed, so if they are credit checked may not pass.

    That said, there is nothing on the form about agreeing to a credit check.

    If the other person is a HSBC customer already its just a formality. proof of ID. if not there are extra person check, but not the (as far as I remember) credit checks
