Just got off the phone with an agent in VA office who initially told me that as my ticket is a points booking they are not offering re-routing. I pointed out that irrespective of the booking being points or cash, Virgin have entered into a contract with me and are bound by EC261 Regulations, Article 8 which provides me with statutory rights. I asked to speak with her team leader (who, surprise, surprise, was unavailable) but she then returned to tell me that she had just been told that arrangements are now underway to re-route passengers, but they have not been finalised yet. I was told that I am on a list to receive a phone call from Virgin in a few days time regarding re-routing. Of course, I am not holding my breath on receiving that call but will give them until Thursday and then call again.

I’m delighted to have found this thread as I have had the same (frustrating) experience in searching for an Avios redemption with Qatar from LHR to Nairobi for June 2024. However, I am not delighted that it should be 65k each way but flags as 130k each way on the Qatar website.

Card arrived this morning. Activated and ready to spend. Barclaycard communication makes no reference to the HfP 5k extra bonus Avios. I applied through the HfP link – will it automatically be credited alongside the 25k Avios?
