I was in BKK a few weeks ago. Airport full of Europeans so obviously many airlines other than BA make it work. Hotel prices were ok, although more than on our visit pre Covid. Still way cheaper than Singapore though. Conferences have started up in BKK – several hundred Dassault Systems employees in our hotel.

Is there any way to easily and cheaply upgrade flights on a BAH booking ? OH needs more tier points than I thought. I can only see a change fee of £100 whereas it’s usually painless and free to upgrade flights on a non BAH booking. Having only paid a deposit it might be cheaper to simply cancel and make a fresh booking. Advice appreciated

Doesn’t BA create some of the problem itself by providing more 241 flight availability from the Regions compared to direct from LHR /LGW ?

I have been trying to book a BA Holiday (Flight plus Car) for the last day or so, booking it as a Holiday in order to get Double Tier Points. Whilst I always definitely start from the BA Holidays page, somehow between the start and end of the process it looks to be deviously converting it to a standard Flight plus Car booking which doesnt earn double Tier Points. No where in the process is it mentioning the number of Tier Points that I will earn and the payment page will only take the total cost as a payment, i.e. no ability to pay just a deposit. What am I doing wrong and have others had this problem ?

I’m in the unfortunate position that my year end date is 8th Aug and needed another 120 tier points to retain Silver all to be done within a four week window . So took day trips to Jersey and Amsterdam and a few days in Edinburgh with my wife.
Probably cost £850 but flight prices are so high at present and it took a lot of screen staring to work out what destinations were cheapest and when. My solution was to use Google Flights and leave the destination field blank. Up pops a map with the prices to pretty much all of Europe. Zoom in to pick up the smaller destinations.

I flew with OH for the first time this week from LCY to EDI in CE. I wasn’t expecting a lounge but the airport was ok with loads of space. Whilst the crew do a great job serving food and drinks on a short flight the only bad thing was the food. It was disgusting. I declined as by Row 3 all the non vegetarian meals had gone (all 6 portions ). My OH took her tray and handed it back almost immediately. I don’t think hardly anyone in the rows behind wanted it either. The starter really did look like roadkill that had been scraped up. I genuinely have no idea what it was.

On my recent flight the drink is now a small plastic cup of water and the crisps have been replaced by. 10 gram packet of pretzels. Must cost way less that 20P a head

Can you book a BA holiday online with Y outbound and CE inbound or do I need to make a phone call ? Have tried online without success.

What is the best approach for an Avios booking in CE if OH has decided to stay at destination for an extra week and travel back with friends on EasyJet. Should I get return flight for OH removed now or can I do it anytime before she returns. I don’t want to risk losing my own return flight. Advice appreciated.

Similar issue – was looking to book a couple of flights to Faro over the weekend for next summer. All flights to Faro from LGW seem to stop on Sat March 25th. Surely BA can plan this far ahead. Ended up with flights from LHR and LCY. Had to use points because for one week that I was looking at the Economy flights from LHR were £740 return for every day of that week.

Just had my cash and Avios refund through for a flight to Bangkok that BA cancelled. My 241 was redeposited on 31st March with an Expiry date of 4th of April 2022, ie a life of just 5 days. BAEC just said tough luck when I complained. A lesson here to insist on rebooking within the 12 month window

Sadly, Its why I never book a flight with Virgin despite us both having a stack of points. So many nice destinations got cancelled over the years and you dont know what’s next

Thoroughly recommend the two Pestana hotels in Porto especially Pestana Brasilia. Central and easy route on the metro. And reasonable Breakfast
