Ben Lipsey who runs Flying Blue told me they currently intend to run it again. Doesn’t mean they will but that’s the current scenario.

I’d need to listen to it again but he may even have said it publicly on the podcast we did together.

Hi Rob, but given the actual card expires end of June does that mean I have until then to request a status match (if one is available in June) or given I haven’t made status and the year ends in 11 days I should request it now?

Many on this forum seem to be betting there will be another round of LH/AFKL status matches in spring 2026 when a significant amount will expire without renewal/downgrade. I wouldn’t 100% count on all options being on the table.

If I were in your shoes I’d strategically pick the one you are most likely to start earning on, keeping the other in your back pocket as a bet it will still be available and extend some kind of decent status beyond 2026.

I see what you’re saying but there current earning year ends at the end of this month and I haven’t made silver so come 1st April I will be downgraded already. So the question is given my BA silver card expires end of June do I wait for June to status match with other airlines or do I need to do it by the end of march?

When would your first Sky Team or Star Alliance flight be?

Nothing planned as yet, as we haven’t started discussing our holiday plans for next year…
