The duty free allowance SIN to SYD in terms of tobacco is a single cigarette… The duty free shop at SIN advised me of this just prior to me attempting to buy on the way out. No idea about alcohol.

My abiding memory of Admirals Clubs is blowhards crowding the bar discussing their retirement plans and cinnamon rolls that look like someone unwrapped them from plastic
I meant snack..snacky things…
Currently in the IAH terminal D lounge as a BA First passenger for maybe the 4th time. it makes for a lousy business lounge at best.

drdan 130 postsHi all, I am buying my first home and my mortgage broker tells me HSBC has the cheapest product for the term / deposit I am looking for. I understand they are very anti-Curve but the product would entitle me to apply for HSBC Premier. Could I pay my mortgage on HSBC Premier via Direct Debit and earn HSBC points? Sorry completely new to the world of HSBC Premier!
Nope. They only accept back transfers..no card payments.
drdan 130 postsJust pulled the trigger on 300k IHG points, if both rebates work it will be .36p per point. That’s 1% on Curve and 2.5% at T C B dot com, not sure who recommended it but thanks for the heads up, quick question is how do you cash out? With a trip to Sydney and Bali next year I’ll easily be able to use them.
Twas me! They cash out via PayPal…
drdan 130 postsNope…
drdan 130 postsNot sure but I was under the impression that IB redemptions weren’t cancellable…
drdan 130 postsYes…any kind of amex in anyone’s name will do the job.
drdan 130 postsThank you! Any referral link? Cheers!
drdan 130 postsJust to second this… I pay my United utilities water on receipt of bill and octopus for gas/elec all by card; council tax by PayPal or pay point at co-op.. no charges..
drdan 130 postsPlease note that the AI they use to read your photo of the receipt is clever enough to see gift cards. Already tried!!
drdan 130 postsI used it…it ‘seems’ like a good idea… But you have to remember to activate the offer before going in-store… And I just couldn’t remember this. So I just deleted it.
I’m a TCB/Quid++/Avios collector but just couldn’t do it. YMMV
25th September 2024 at 19:56 in reply to: What is the deal with Curve international cashback?drdan 130 postsWith GBP up to $1.33, the 1% cashback via Curve and yet another IHG 100% bonus (almost becoming like the DFS sale) buying IHG points currently comes in at 0.371p.

24th September 2024 at 16:20 in reply to: What is the deal with Curve international cashback?drdan 130 postsJust another update whilst I’m still in the USA for 3 weeks.
So having got the black upgrade (not metal) from the blue for a fiver a month for 3 months, I’m paying £1k to HMRC a month (my SA bill is £2.8k total), will draw £500 cash from a UK ATM a month when I’m home (Barclays Avios card behind it) and with zero FX I’m earning avios (max £2k/month spend) 1% cash back on top (posting 1-3 days after each spend as curve cash) as well as an extra 1% on Aldi shopping as 1 of my 6 cash back merchants (worth a drive for the savings Vs Kroger stores and the like).
I can see me doing this for maybe 3 months every year when travelling to do all of the above again…
18th September 2024 at 13:22 in reply to: What is the deal with Curve international cashback?drdan 130 postsI’m now in the US as of 3 days ago.
I signed up for metal at half off for 3 months (£4.99/MTH) to pay Self Assessment at £1k a month fronted.
Used it here in the USA with Barclaycard Avios behind it. I seem to be earning 1% cashback everywhere except Uber… Fine by me!!
11th September 2024 at 06:59 in reply to: Gift cards – best way to stack offers for a discount?drdan 130 postsWon’t work… The underlying card won’t see the true vendor.. no double dipping this way!
7th September 2024 at 08:23 in reply to: Gift cards – best way to stack offers for a discount?drdan 130 postsOk…so the cash back has showed as due today 7 Sept, 2 days after being instore…. 6 x £25 rebate.
Just to summarize…
Did 6 separate self-service transactions on 5 Sept. Each with a £250 Airbnb gift card..the tills have now been set up that you type in your own value to a maximum of £250. No need to place anything on the weighing device.
7 Sept the cashback is showing as pending in my VS card App cashback statement.
Morrisons sells their own gift cards (can’t now been used in fuel stations since they have been sold off). They also sell John Lewis, Amazon and my favourite Airbnb (because I book for a friend and I, this works out at 20% discount off my half of the stay.. my finders fee).
YMMV… Cheers! Dan 🙂
5th September 2024 at 20:38 in reply to: Gift cards – best way to stack offers for a discount?drdan 130 postsJust did my 6 x £250 Airbnb purchases this eve at Morrison’s. Will confirm cash back when it hits in a handful of days and before he offer ends… Confident it will credit as 6 x £25 rebate..used a self serve machine FYI.
5th September 2024 at 07:59 in reply to: Gift cards – best way to stack offers for a discount?drdan 130 posts10% Morrison’s cashback in-store doing the rounds again (on my VS card) for gift card fans 🙂
6th August 2024 at 18:17 in reply to: Gift cards – best way to stack offers for a discount?drdan 130 postsNever an issue for me… Morrisons self check out or till, card factory… All good.
I just topped up £1.5k AirBnB via Morrisons and Natwest and got my £150 back.. even better as even though it’s 10% cash back..I book for my mate and I so it works out at 20% off my half of the stay (my service fee for the hours of research I put it!) .. Cher-ching!
drdan 130 postsDry airline.

Can’t comment on quality of J.Each to their own.
29th July 2024 at 07:39 in reply to: Gift cards – best way to stack offers for a discount?drdan 130 postsOn Lloyd’s banking group..10% card factory… They sell gift cards..largely by the side of the till, sometimes dispersed about the shop, not sure which ones. I’ve just done the 10% Amex and NatWest 10% cash back at Morrsions and topped up 1.5k AirBnB gift card..it may well be back.
drdan 130 postsI do wonder if despite the dedicated link, it would trigger via TCB –) Expedia route.

29th June 2024 at 07:52 in reply to: Gift cards – best way to stack offers for a discount?drdan 130 postsAgreed… I topped up my AirBnB with £1k with a nice £100 rebate courtesy of NatWest a week ago.
