@Durban – gate A10 is the bus gate which usually means that your aircraft is at a remote stand. For long haul flights, A10 is the 0 on the roulette wheel.

    Thank you 😊

@Durban put your flight number into Google and open the flightaware link that will pop up. You can go back over the last 12 days worth of flights and see which gate it has departed from.

Useful to keep this in mind for future T5 flights to decide on whether to head to the B gates lounge.

Thank you. I did this and can see that it nearly always leaves from Gates B or C except tonight when it leaves from A10.

I have heard of A10. What is it and in what circumstances is it normally used ?

I have now been approved. The credit limit on my BAPP card was lowered and a manual review of the application has resulted in the card being approved and I now have my lounge passes. Thank you everyone

Indeed, hope OP is not flying from MAN!

Ha ha , thankfully not. I actually want those particular lounge passes for my return flight from Cape Town.
Unfortunately, for that leg of my journey , no avios business class flights available so had to try and obtain some lounge passes

I have a flight booked to JNB at the beginning of March BA057 and was very much hoping for Club Suite but it is showing as the Club World seats unfortunately although in aircraft it did say that the aircraft is a 787-9 last week but when I looked just now it is not showing the type of aircraft so perhaps it has been changed and I will have an aircraft with Club Suite.

I think that this is unlikely though as it still shows that if I choose a seat , it is the old ying yang style even though the aircraft is now not listed

You can reduce your own credit limit in your account.

You absolutely can and on reading this thread did just that with my cashback card yesterday on the Amex web portal, to help with my BAPP application in April. @Durban – I see no need to wait 5 days for them to email you, what an odd process they have tried to send you on there! Unless they will be reviewing the application as a part of that call.

Yes , they told me it was lengthy but I received the email from them today with a phone number and application number

I called them and they said that my credit limit needed to be reduced by £6000 which they are doing and they are now submitting my application for a manuel review and I should hear whether my resubmitted application is successful within 8 days.

I’m not in a huge hurry , would just like the lounge passes by the end of Feb.

The replies have been incredibly helpful. Thank you.

I phoned Amex today and yes , it is correct , my limit on the BAPP card is too high. I now have to wait 5 working days in order to receive an email from Amex requesting that I phone them to give them permission to lower my credit limit.

They will then review the application and they have said that “ because it’s a system decline and I’ve been a wonderful Amex customer for 10 years they hope that it will be looked on favourably “

Failing that and looking into the other very helpful post about the Lloyds World Elite card , I have looked further into this and as I have a Santander Select account , I should hopefully be able to get the Santander World Elite card with unlimited lounge access fairly painlessly I hope

Thank you all again , I had resigned myself to having to buy the 2 lounge passes

Good idea , thank you , I will contact them tomorrow although I really would like those lounge passes by the end of Feb so may not work this time and we have got another couple of 0 percent cards that we stooze on so that could also be a reason

Thanks all , that it is reassuring. We have an ordinary Amex cashback card that can be used.

I will hit the spend amount needed in the next couple of months for my next 2-4-1 voucher on my AMEX BAPP.

I want to cancel the Amex BAPP once I have my 2-4-1 voucher and when ready , book flights using a different AMEX card.

I have done this before and it worked absolutely fine. Is this still the case as I won’t be booking this vouchers flights for another year.

    Welcome!

The reward flight finder facility in the BA app lets you select any airport globally outbound. Just do 2 x one way searches and then you see all the options, albeit it’s fiddly.

Thanks Rob – per attached screenshot, the app is definately only giving me UK-based airports as departure options though! I’m in “Find Reward Flight” > “One Way”:

    What am I doing wrong?

Yes , this happens to me on the app also

Sorry, forgot to add , I can’t understand why there’s so much available CW heading out to JNB but very little coming back

    Thank you

Im waiting for 85000 points to be transferred this week and will be able to book

Do you think that it’s worth booking the inbound flight and waiting and hoping more seats are released later ?

If I did this , would I still be able to use my companion voucher if I’m not booking both at the same time ?

I will give the 18th March from JNB some thought although wanted to spend time in Cape Town and Durban

Thank you all for being so helpful. I’m very new to this

Aiming to go out 1st or 2nd March and return around the 17th March.

Unfortunately, won’t be able to book until 85000 Avios points are transferred at the end of this month to my British Airways executive club account

    This –

Call Amex and ask them if they can approve a higher limit temporarily

As a new card holder which from your other post you appear to be https://www.headforpoints.com/forums/topic/newbie-bapp/

it’s best not to start your relationship by immediatly trying to get around the rules you signed up to.

Certainly not trying to get around any rules, I just wanted advice as a new person on how I could do what I wanted to.
I explained to Amex exactly what and why I wanted to do it and they understood completely and could not have been more accommodating

Thank you – it has been sorted

I contacted AMEX on their chat. I have another AMEX everyday cashback card with about £12000 limit.

Amex have swapped the 2 cards limits around and given me £12000 on the BAPP card and a lower limit on the everyday cashback card
