Mr. Baldrick, you can expect this to be fixed by BA. It will take time but they should fix it. Give them a call tomorrow morning to get it started. I’m sure you will take that trip 🙂

What are your plans for DFW? Reddit was very helpful for me last month for a 2 day business trip.

Sounds so risky if the shipping is not local (hence no returns?). Plus prices seems high when last I checked.

Hi @JDB, my partner was re routed to Brussels last night and took the eurostar as she had to be back early today. The original flight is now taking off from Brussels. Would she still be able to request reimbursement for the Eurostar ticket?
It depends a bit on the precise circumstances, but in principle, yes. BA has in recent times been reasonably generous and prompt in paying claims relating to widespread disruption events. Obviously she won’t get a refund for the unused flight, BA will retain that. Keep the claim text brief and to the point!
We’ve done as you suggested, asked for reimbursement only (no compensation) and got them all back. Thanks again.

Submitted over the weekend and the 15 nights have landed this AM (before the card arrived).

Stayed a few hours in the amazing lounge which offers free private rooms (!) inside the airport. Noise wasn’t so bad.

2nd on the Adani lounge! The train tracks design is quite befitting.

I got upgraded on Friday on my way to Prague as a Silver. It’s happened to me on that route before and it’s always when it’s an A319, so it’s almost certainly operational. As I noticed the seat change in the app, I downloaded a new boarding pass myself, so there wasn’t any beeping or contact with staff.
But that meant BA completely missed the opportunity to make a bit of a thing out of it – no email, no “Mr Pete, good news!” at the gate. They did cancel the return and I ended up on FR, so guess my luck ran out quite quickly 🙂
Something similar happened to me twice, no notification nothing, just seat change…

I applied last month and when Amex finally agreed I could have the card after much wrangling the 15 nights were credited before the card landed on my doorstep.
If I may ask, what was the issue?

Good morning all.
We are thinking of booking the Cologne Marriott hotel for around a week over the Christmas holidays after a previous recommendation by another poster.
As a Good Elite, I’m guessing the upgrades only tend to be to one room level above? Would be keen on getting lounge access so wondering whether to take a gamble with booking a lower room without lounge access or whether just to pay for it from the outset.
Normally stay with Hilton so don’t have any Marriott experience to fall back on.
Many thanks.
Stayed there a few months back, nice hotel but nothing special…I have platinum elite and the room upgrade was just a better version like someone mentioned above.
Note, they have no lounge, so take that into account. Suggest checking out the Marriot hotel, which is also closer to the city centre. Didn’t stay there as prices were to the roof due to the euros.

@Flier33 you just need to find a restaurant included in both offers and bingo: double-dipping.
Thanks! This appears to be the main problem now, found just 1 so far – Bread Street kitchen – City.
Will keep looking.

Can share experience on US passport, VOA was basically a computer station managed by some staff, where you do the process on your own (almost the same as the online request I think).
Biggest issue I had was finding it after waiting in line… so make sure to look for the VOA on the left before going down the stairs to wait in line.
KSA is nothing like Dubai, very different, more like Sharjah on a larger scale. I liked that it has more culture and the people you meet are locals doing normal jobs like everywhere else in world. Dont forget, no alcohol anywhere:/
23rd November 2022 at 19:49 in reply to: Card cancelled due to not verifying income back in June can I get 100k now?Flier33 28 posts
No. Barclaycard require a 6 month gap after closing an account before you can apply for another successfully. A full 2 years gap to get another bonus apparently though.
Thanks, was hoping that since I never really “had” an account it would work…

We applied for two Barclaycard Avios, myself and wife. I was given the card without an income check; wife was asked for pay slips and HMRC tax calculation, which was rejected (this is partnership income rather than self-employment, but exactly the same figure as mine). That leaves her with the £200 monthly spending limit with the card operating rather like a prepaid: she keeps making small payments to Barclaycard by debit card. No possibility of spending enough for the bonus Avios. She is minded to keep the card for now, and review credit limit after 6 months.
Note, from my experience they will eventually close her account if she does not complete the process.

Same problem here, even visited a branch to try and sort this out. Nothing worked and I’ve decided to just close the account. This headache (and time wasted on calls, bank visits etc.) is not worth no amount of Avios.
25th July 2022 at 23:01 in reply to: Barclays Avios Rewards – can anyone report a good banking experience?Flier33 28 posts
I was delighted. I switched from my secondary Tesco account when Tesco exited. I plonked £100k in and after a few weeks got a call from a lovely lady in Glasgow. She established that Barclays would be my secondary account and I wouldn’t be paying my salary in and that I had no interest in any of their products.
I’m in the process of drip feeding the £100k into investment trusts so at 10 basis points for that service I’ll be paying approx £100 for an upgrade voucher. And I like having a backup account. And who knows, one day being able to take £1,000 out of an ATM might be handy.
Since then I’ve heard nothing which is perfect.
I got my 25k bonus Avios, occasionally use the App which is clunky but functional and rarely use the web version as it is barely functional.
But everything works as it should.
HSBC remains my primary account though.
Thanks, I guess it worked out having a 2nd account to switch from. May leave this one as a secondary…
