Well, that’s very odd. When logged in, that link takes me to a page with a toy LandRover and some pasta at the top, some guff about Companion Vouchers and some “Top tips for collecting even more Avios”. No referral link, either for me or my husband (both with BAPPs at present). Could it be something to do with cookies or something techie or do you think we’ve just been blanked by BA/Amex, despite the email?

You have to be logged out to see that offer.
To get the referral link, you can be logged in and scroll down there is a refer a friend button there with the 60k offer.

Nope, definitely logged in – shows our names at the top of the page.

Strange , I log in and see that referral offer if I scroll past that toy landrover and its pretty much straight after

Got the answer – sadly no .

The Primary Platinum Business Cardmember and the first Supplementary Platinum Cardmember are eligible for part of the American Express Global Lounge Collection and will be enrolled automatically.
The gold card members are not eligible for the lounge access.

Qatar will be able to add your RJ status if you contact them.

Qatar agents also seem more familiar with adding two frequent flyer numbers, one for its benefits and the other to collect TP/Avios/miles which is a standard GDS function, but one BA agents aren’t used to handling.

    Appreciate it thank you.

So I am planning to book Qatar reward flights, will I still be able to change to RJ or is it BA only?

I dont think you get the same benefits on business platinum that you get on personal.. no hotel status, no dining etc. Only good use is x2 points on £10K spend every month.

You do get hotel status. No dinig credit. Slightly better insurance and double points at £10000 are great too

Ah nice didn’t know thanks as can’t see it anywhere on amex business platinum page.

As long as you paid on any personal Amex, you are good for cancellation etc
Medical is covered regardless of payment method.

Do you still get the insurance if booked using non amex but hold a platinum amex? or need to book on any amex whilst holding platinum amex

I just booked Qatar Airways to Tanzania from BHX to DAR – 65k Avios + taxes each way. Qatar Airways use a wet-leased Oman Air a330 on at least one of the DOH – DAR scheduled routes. Availability from LHR is limited, so you may want to explore ex-EU.

An alternative option – AF/KLM using Virgin points which I believe is even cheaper at 48.5k each way.

    Perfect many thanks! 😀

Would this work – do platinum, do spend to get welcome bonus and then downgrade to gold. Would the gold 1st year still be free then?

Most likely yes; based on recent offers seen in the retention thread

    Perfect many thanks 🙂

Hi all can I confirm if the points get added shortly after bonus spend has been met or after 3 months regardless of when bonus spend is done – I just did the spend within a month but customer service said I have to wait further 2 months regardless as they have to verify the information after 3 months? Which I find odd since can’t they verify now vs making me wait 2 more months?

Best case just speak to the amex agents on chat.. they can tell you straight away if eligible since they have all record. Also good to keep them as screenshot for proof.

Remember adding someone to your HHA gives them FULL use of ALL the avios in the account even if they’ve added none to it themselves.

The head of the HHA doesn’t get an email saying “do you approve of person 3 spending 160k avios on a first class return to New York? Please click Yes to approve or No to decline this”

Once you add someone they can’t be removed for six months.

Sadly I learnt the hard way, 1 more month to go to get out of a household account! BA really need to get some sort of system in place to not be stuck in for 6 months!

in reply to: Platinum bonus – better than 60k?
    Flying 22 posts

Yeah 60K is quite a decent one especially if you’ve got immediate spend to trigger the bonus and then either keep the card or downgrade to gold one and get 1 year free. Last year they had like 90K but I think that’s once in a while type of deal.
