I managed to cancel via chat last week. I was still within the 6 month period and they tried charging a fee but I stood my ground and they downgraded without much fuss. Took maybe 5 days total to get it cancelled

All cards behind Curve used to work fine with tax free childcare. Even Virgin Atlantic did not have cash advance fees – afraid to try it now!
I imagine Zilch is not a debit card?

Go do some research on Zilch

It’s trial and error basically. Turn fronted off, try it and if it goes through it is not fronted. Simples.
What constitutes fronted is whatever Curve bothers to set up as such. More obscure places are more likely to not have been set up as fronted. Not accepting credits cards does not necessarily mean it’s fronted (e.g. tax free childcare does not accept credit cards and is not fronted)

Not anymore, This Monday tax free childcare payment was declined as fronted was off. Looks like Curve is trying to catch up

You are, unfortunately, correct. Just tried it now, and you need indeed Fronted for tax free childcare :/ Curve probably got me for another couple of years then.

That’s a shame it was a great non fronted points earner.

Little extra tip, use Zilch with tax free childcare and you can get an additional 0.5% cashback. Helps me pay the metal fee every month 😉

Are you looking at options booking through BA or Qatar’s website?

BA only show shorter connections. Qatar shows many more options with longer connections. Best to transfer Avios and book with Qatar for their flights.

Other benefits include only $25 vs £35 cancellation fees, Qatar is also a lot easier to deal with in regards to schedule changes and aircraft swaps for tickets issued on their stock.

I was looking at BA but good shout on looking at Qatar as well as I discovered they have different availability.

Thanks, good to know I’m not missing an obvious way to book as one ticket. I’ll just book them separately and swallow the extra avios.

Still a little confused. I’m about to make a reward booking and have some monese gift cards I can convert.
Can I make the booking online and use the virgin gift card online? Or does this have to be done via phone?

Got the card in October as part of the upgrade 40k offer. Have spend around £6/7k on the card.

Was going to wait a while to threaten to cancel as I still need to used the UK dining credit. However I just messaged to ask if there were any retention offers and was given 35k without too much effort. Will use the dining credit and try to cancel in a few months.

Somethings gone wrong with my credit I think.

Purchased chocolates on 24th November which processed the next day. Still haven’t got the credit. Terms say up to 150 days for the credit. Im now weary of doing the dining offer and will probably cancel the card before I get the £50, as there is no point waiting for it.

Maybe worth rechecking expired gift cards.

I had a £100 one brought just before the first lockdown started and must have somehow missed exchanging it for a gift card – it was on P2s account which I don’t check as often. I was going through the gift cards a few months ago and saw I had let £100 expire. I was kicking myself. However, I was going through all my cards again today and randomly it was showing as available! It had something like 277 days left to redeem but I quickly cashed out for an Asda gift card. The selection was smaller than usual, maybe around 8-10 options but no Sainsbury’s.

Hopefully this was not a fluke and others can also claim some lost cash.

Awful news. Can anyone confirm that after we have converted the 50,000 manually we can still convert 25,000 by auto-conversion on top of that?

Did the 50k and auto convert last week. Got an email today saying auto convert successfully moved 25k over. It’s been taken from my Avios balance but will take 12 days to show up in Nectar

Gift cards for Amazon/supermarket used to be my go to’s but monese has eaten into that spend significantly this year. I feel like I’ve overpaid if I don’t get minimum 20% off these days 😳

There is, unfortunately, a major back end difference between comments and forum which makes the latter far more difficult for us to handle, especially on a mobile.

We are considering creating a new full time job to handle the forum and the general daily management of the site.

OT but how is the forum working out @Rob? I was on the fence about a forum but I now know I prefer the old comments. It was a lot to get through everyday but at least I did not miss anything. On the forums I find myself re reading the same comments so less inclined to read everything and just have a skim.

Good shout @AJA, I’ll give that a go. Both names on tenancy agreement match what Barclaycard should expect.

Applied for P2 who’s income is from pension and rental income.

Sent off SA302 and bank statements. Got the following back: Unfortunately, we can’t see your income clearly on the documents uploaded

Rental income is just a bank transfer every month so not sure what they expect!

So limit stays at £200 and account will be closed mid September. Don’t think I can get £3k in by then as they are so slow to post transactions and you cannot pay off balance until it’s posted. I have not found a way to go in credit so I can spend more and get the bonus in time.

ASDA400 sold out by 19:35 when I tried. Got the other 3 on 2 accounts so not too bad.

Already have enough gift vouchers from previous drops so not bothering with 15% offer.

This has been watered down from last year. Not much speculative value left in it unless you were booking something already

    G 32 posts

I had to do this last year. Part flown LHR-DEL return. Total cost was something like £433 and the refund was around £70. Set expectations low and you won’t be disappointed.

Booked with a evoucher but the refund was as a future travel voucher. Given the state of phone lines, I was just going to let the credit lapse but got an email a few weeks ago saying I would get a refund. No idea where this refund will go as I got the initial evoucher during the 2p per Avios deal in the summer.

Barclaycard already facilitates ‘interesting’ routes so why bother with this for 1/3 of the return.
