Yes 🙂

Yes its same as domestic so no charges, even got morrisons offer at the time to trigger!
This might be a daft question but we’re going to Gibraltar in April for 6 nights (only done day trips up till now) – if you pay for things with a UK credit card, do you get charged any kind of fees? I know their £ is essentially the same as ours, but Gib is not classed as UK as I understand it?
Best check with your cc provider.

https://travelmoney.moneysavingexpert.com/ is what i use but as rob says if its a small amount might be worth waiting till arrival

Posted in another thread but F on my flight was downgraded, looks like they have added another flight so 4 a day but reduced the a380 on some days because of this, worth checking your booking incase you have also been changed. After a lot of calling managed to get moved to another F flight the day before- will still let you know how it is if i do manage to retain F !
When are you flying? I am doing the same route in F in March, will let you know how it is
Flying at the end of May, LHR<->DOH in QSuites and DOH<->BKK in F. Would be interested in your thoughts as well!

Sometimes the checkin staff use discretion. Although there was once where it was denied and then the plane was so busy they forced people to checkin in the hold anyway! They should work out a procedure on busy flights but unfortunately you will have to just gamble or pay
harley
Thanks all, HUACA worked and got a sensible agent who has booked me for first the day before, means i will have less time to look around doha but thats life. Now a prayer that they don’t downgrade that one closer to the time either! Know the Qsuite is similar but the one booked was the old 2-2-2 config so even worse!
harley
I made a booking over the phone this week and the agent confirmed my flight was showing as club suite and i have reserved a window seat already with silver. He said that they were rolling out to most of the long haul gatwick planes with the aim of finishing by early 2023. Hoping they dont change the type last minute as usual though

I believe there are two as i was going to stay at the miami doral one, but changed mind
harley
Wanted to do Qsuite but there was no availbilty so opted for first for the extra 25k avios
Interesting, thanks for the insight. I do find on QR the service is a lot of asking if you need anything, rather than just topping things up like water.
I guess I can see that QR F doesn’t feel as large a jump as QR J. We’ll be flying QSuites from LON to DOH before getting the F flight, I’ll remember to lower my expectations for the F leg! Though I am looking forward to seeing what the F lounge in DOH is like. Might need to eat there rather than on the plane!

We found QR really quite poor in most respects
Flying QR F DOH to BKK next year, will be our first time in QR F, though have flown J a few times, what did you find poor about it JDB?
5th December 2022 at 09:57 in reply to: Does BA Silver allow business class check-in for guest?harley
Check in will be fine but regarding the bag am not sure which fare type you have, if its hand baggage only then obviously cant check in the bag even with silver benefits as does not apply to HBO
harley
Ditto, probably the app being as bad as it is. Will probably fix itself
26th November 2022 at 15:02 in reply to: Total Newbie Question – Getting confused trying to use Aviosharley
Welcome! What you need to do is select the option on your executive club to book a flight totally with avios – what you are doing now is booking a cash ticket and discounting with avios. There will be a drop down on your exec account to ‘book an avios redemption’ you will then see different options
harley
Just checked and seems to be on the EK website too, a strange decision
harley
Mine have transferred within 24 hours most times, or sometimes 48 hours
10th November 2022 at 19:05 in reply to: No response to BA complaint for almost 3 months!harley
I dont know how they prioritse them as i had a case i submitted 3 weeks ago and they already replied whereas i have another case i submitted over 13 months ago and never got a response even with following up ( could someone send me the sean doyle email as i may try that). My assumption is the agents take on the easier cases with preformatted responses and leave the hardee cases to another team who are hit and miss. For tier points i was given email callba.loyalty@ba.com from contact centre amd found the tier points were then added quickly.

Did JFK to MIA in september. Silver allows you access to flagship lounge but not sure on how many guests if any. Would reccomend flagship lounge over admirals. R.e seat selection we got the exit row free which was brilliant but dont expect much food. We were offered one small bag of pretzels and one soft drink. Staff did not even come around once to ask if we wanted anymore let alone buy one so would eat/ drink before flight. Luggage also very generous, allows 2 pieces per flyer even on HBO

Is there still any type of reward for upgrading in terms of points since the promotion seem to finish or did you just do it for the other benefits?
harley
Yes,
If I book myself a business class flight using avios, can I still take a guest in the lounge with me? I’m silver status, and they would be on a paid economy ticket they’d booked themselves.

I believe if compensation is approved should be circa £220
4th August 2022 at 19:47 in reply to: BA2763 AMS to LGW cancelled on 1 August – what are my rights?harley
Sorry to hear. You will be entitled to compensation but it depends on the reason ba cancelled the flight- sometimes they dont kick a fuss and sometimes they use a strict reason to deny it. You can start the process for this by filling out the complaint and claims form on their website. Regardless of the reason for cancelling you will be entitled to duty of care so in your case the shower and any food purchased will be covered. Regarding rerouting unfortunately BA lied to you as they always do and it is EC261 law that if they cannot reroute you then you can be put on a different airline. I have only learnt this the hard way and now what i do is simply book the other airline ticket if the airline cannot reroute me and then try to claim the cost back after
harley
Also needs to be some kind of transparent portal which details reason for cancellation of flight with evidence- i feel sometimes the airlines make up the excuse
harley
Have signed. It comes to an overall revamp in airline systems too. I have had many cancelled flights by the airline and they have refused to reroute on another airline – all phone agents have said they point blank do not have an option on their computers to do so even if there is no flight that day with said airline and agree they would do it if they were able to. Forcing consumers to pay for an alternative flight themselves and pray for a refund in any extra paid half a year later and usually with a fight. All airlines should be able to reroute as per the law which in my experience BA, TAP and Virgin all refuse to do
