Mine arrived last night. Surprised the flight I wanted was still available, however I suspect there many where in the same boat.
harrison 10 postsHad a call back from the Barclays complaints team who upheld my complaint (still no voucher issued).
Long and short, and a very honest answer, the certificate numbers (so I was told) were limited to 4 digits, and when the last voucher was issued (9999), everything broke – I kid you not. I was told a fix should be in place this week.
All my previous Barclays vouchers have 7 digits and start with a 4. Appears not be in any sequential order that I can tell.
I am still waiting for my most recent anniversary. Barclays chat agent say to contact BA, the voucher has been issued….
harrison 10 postsmy partner got the 25,000 on the 28th Feb. did an account switch in December, plus signed up to several DD’s. however, only did this as the 25,000 were pending on the app and thought it was required to get them to post.
harrison 10 postsYou can’t add extra sectors to a booking using an upgrade voucher unless it’s a connection from a UK regional airport with a BA flight number (you still don’t say which route you want to fly!) If your booking is, say, LHR-JFK on BA, then JFK-MIA on AA, then you’d need 2 separate bookings.
Because knowing my specific route matters not and AA don’t fly UK regionally 🙂
Your example clears up the concern I had, thank you. Although I have taken the route using Avios a few times, which can be done on a single booking (when booking on the phone) never with a voucher. Not sure I fancy taking the journey on two bookings.
harrison 10 postsYes I would use the Barclays on the BA component. However, will BA add the AA reward charged at full avios on the same ticket? I don’t want separate bookings/tickets. Not looking for BA to discount or upgrade the AA portion

Yes and yes.
Thank you very much. Will try applying for a US card and see if I can get the churn going.
13th December 2022 at 19:52 in reply to: How quickly can you rack up points in the US?harrison 10 postsI, a UK-residing US-frequenting individual, have a USD account with Chase, but it was an utter nightmare to set up as – exactly as BA Flyer says – I am not a US taxpayer and therefore have no SSN. Each year, I have to spend a while on the phone with my US accountant and the IRS whilst they confirm that, despite all the paperwork existing to prove I live in a country with a tax treaty, I am not – in fact – resident in the US for tax purposes, and therefore am exempt from taxes. I then have to pay my accountant for the privilege of doing this.
I assume this is because you have a TIN? Could you elaborate more on what tax reporting requirements are if you’re not living there, don’t have income there when having a TIN? I’m probably in a similar sort of situation.
You don’t need to be a U.S. resident or have a tax number to apply for a U.S. credit card. With Amex Global Transfer all you need is an address in the U.S. to post your card to and a U.S. phone number. This is how most overseas people start entering the U.S. credit card game, including me
You wouldn’t be eligible for the lucrative signups bonuses, and wouldn’t be able to apply for another card (Amex or otherwise) without a SSN/TIN though which defeats the purpose.
Untrue as SSN is never mandatory for Amex applications. Just apply over the phone and explain that you don’t have it. You can apply for as many Amex cards this way as you want.
It’s very easy to get an ITIN if you want to apply for Chase or other banks’ cards.
Looking on the Amex US website application, there is a checkbox to make the SSN optional.
If I apply for a US amex does that give me a separate MR account to my UK amex? Additionally can I transfer MR points to a UK BAEC?

In regards to BA executive club. Is it possible to use my existing UK BAEC number? Is there anything else to watch out for?
I avoided the Barclays offer due to hassles of FACTA. Opening a HSBC account was hard enough.
