Not checked for a while but looking today the awards are back to their previous values. I can get Bristol – Frankfurt for 4k in miles.
Checked Glasgow to various in July with KLM, 8500 economy and 18000 business.

I don’t know, but if correct then it’s another good reason to book as two single journeys, albeit with the risk of double fees should you have to cancel.

As I posted on another topic, SFO down to one flight daily for Jan/Feb26 and possibly more of the winter schedule.
On checking seat maps during that period bookings appear to be very low perhaps reflecting a big slowdown in USA traffic.28th May 2025 at 13:24 in reply to: I made a site to help find good value Virgin Atlantic redemptions – vseats.ioIamsmurphslaw 21 posts
As I suggested SFO is down to one flight daily for Jan/Feb 26 anyway.
This means consolidation of flights on days when there were two, resulting in reward points needed jumping up substantially across the board.
Hopefully will start to see them drop again in coming days as seems to be the norm.27th May 2025 at 23:03 in reply to: I made a site to help find good value Virgin Atlantic redemptions – vseats.ioIamsmurphslaw 21 posts

Potentially great idea, however for your information I’m currently checking SFO/LHR upper for Feb26 dates and 5,7,10,14 & 17th points are way out. In fact I’d say they’ve never been as low as you’re showing.
Hope it’s just a glitch and I wish you well with the site.

Wouldn’t a short haul cash flight on KL/AF be cheaper (and save your points for another trip) ?
If I’ve read the table tight it looks like you get 40TPs for say LHR-AMS in business

I’m checking KLM GLA/AMS and although there are no cash seats around my dates, reward seats are available. However they don’t appear to earn any tier points, would that be correct?

And…. Just like SFO it’s now changed to the B787-9 coffin seat, so where is the A330neo previously listed operating now?

Used free upgrade extensively in USA for everything including hotels which did have have a higher initial authorisation, but ultimately worked out fine and I earned lots of points plus some curve cashback.
Downgraded to the free card on return and this went smoothly, so I won’t hesitate to use the upgrade again in the future.
Regarding customer service which has been abysmal, I had reason to query an exchange rate and had a response within a day. Hopefully a sign of things improving.Iamsmurphslaw 21 posts
Interesting! Some good advice in there.
Thanks @PandaMick & @AL.7th April 2025 at 16:38 in reply to: USD/GBP exchange rate when purchasing points with IHGIamsmurphslaw 21 posts
IHG frequently run special offers for purchasers, e.g. get 100% extra free points when purchasing more than xx points.
These are sold in USD but the exchange rate is not stipulated so you cannot find it out until after you have purchased.
With the dollar so low, have IHG adjusted the rate? This would make this promotion even more worthwhile for UK members.
The dollar is stronger than a few days ago, it was ©1.31 to the £ but back to ©1.27, so nothing to gain now.

Any idea how many TPs with KLM economy or business for GLA/AMS/MUC?

As it now happens I’m glad I delayed booking upper as it appears that Virgin have changed back totally to the B787 on the SFO route just when it looked like they were going with the A350 for some flights.
So no thanks to that, I’ll just stick with premium rather than endure the ‘coffin’ again.Iamsmurphslaw 21 posts
That’s clearer now although I think it will cost me less points overall by using it as a companion voucher.
Regarding my previous comments about upgrading, I might have been thinking of the old scheme pre dynamic rules etc.
Thanks again for your help.Iamsmurphslaw 21 posts
I’m not sure what you mean by a “better deal”?
Your voucher will be worth 75k points, so at current pricing you’d need that, plus another 22k points, plus the difference in fees to upgrade from PE to UC. Using it as a companion voucher would require roughly the same points outlay.
You have to call to use the voucher whichever way you do it.
Thanks for your reply.
I might have misunderstood, but I thought I’d read elsewhere that by booking premier if it’s really low in points, and then calling to upgrade to upper, it could possibly be less expensive than just booking in upper in the first place. Hence why I said, ‘better deal’.
I understand the 75k for the voucher but not the 22k amount, can you explain please?Iamsmurphslaw 21 posts
I have some that run to February 2026 too
Hi @dan747flyer- I’ve just emailed you with my details for two stays coming up soon. So kind of you and I’ll be very grateful to receive any. Thank you!

@marks7389, @JenT, @Travel Strong, @degsy – I would have gone for two opposite each other so really glad I asked the question. Thanks to you all for the helpful advice which I’ll definitely take.
