I do this with Curve Black (legacy/free) and stick through £1000 on my VAT bill every month.

I did consider switching to metal to get the increased amount per month – I also have legacy black etc.

The problem is I can’t get a straight answer as to what I would go back to if I downgraded in the future.

So I have not gone for this.

Late to the party here, Corporation Tax due end of December and Self Assessment end of January.
On a £25k Corp. Tax bill at 1.85% would cost £462, doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense against buying Avios for example.

I did wonder about the new HHonors Debit Card for paying HMRC!

However the company pays the fee on using COT at 1.85% – you don’t.

To force people to upgrade just to get their Avios will lose a lot of trust.

Hopefully they can sort something out or just keep the business plan.

Not been told of any changes, so is it just a few depending upon the date of the account?

They’ve just confirmed to me that from June existing customers on the free card will be able to transfer points to Avios, and it would just be a few months that you couldn’t do the conversion.

If that’s true then it’s really out of order of them to deliberately not tell customers this so that people pay £199 to upgrade just to be able to transfer Avios!

If you can’t downgrade beforehand it would be very sneaky and one that I am sure Rob would ask them directly to clarify.

I’m currently travelling in East Asia (7 hour time difference) and woke up yesterday with an email from Amex saying that all my cards (Business Platinum with 15+ supplementary cards and my personal gold card) had been suspended. This came as a complete surprise to me so I immediately called them but apparently since I was outside of UK business hours nothing could be done.

I waited until the evening my time to call back and I was told my account had been flagged for financial review and I need to provide some documents related to my business for them to remove the block on my cards. Apparently I was sent an email about this but I thoroughly scrubbed my emails and definitely never received anything. I was then told they can reshare the email with the instructions on how to provide what’s required but it can take some time to come through so I can’t stay on the line with them until it arrives. I naively went to bed and woke up 8 hours later with still no email from them. This is incredibly frustrating as I could have provided the documents within minutes if I was simply told who I need to send them to.

I have essential business payments that need to be paid and every day that this goes unresolved is costing me thousands of pounds of lost business. Does anyone know whether its possible to escalate this so that it can be resolved over the weekend?

I feel particularly wronged by Amex here for a few reasons:
    1. I was never initially given any notice prior to the cards being suspended which is extremely disruptive to my business. I’m spending GBP 1m+ on my business platinum card annually so why was no alternative attempts to contact me made (no follow up emails to check I had received the initial email, no phone calls etc.)?
    2. My attempt to get a second email from them has also failed – suggesting their IT is likely faulty
    3. Why was my personal card also blocked if this is an issue with my business? I have income outside this business which Amex are aware of that more than covers the minimum requirements for this card and my spending profile

Since it seems likely all of these issues stem from Amex incompetence i.e. faulty IT with emails not being sent and the failure to follow up. Does anyone think I have a case for compensation here? (either MR points or financial compensation)

Who can I escalate this to?

Please let me know if anyone has ever had similar experiences.

Did you ever get this sorted?

At a gas station for example you will see one price for cash and another for using a card.

In the US do you get different fees for debit or credit cards, or foreign cards?

Not that I have ever seen.

    Not worth it.

    Most will cancel

Yes – not had any issues.

I seem to recall that I sent them to myself.

I sent a test of 500 points if I am right to see if they arrived.

Hi, has anyone successfully managed to transfer Hilton for Business points to their personal HH account yet? When I try to it only gives me the option to transfer to member employees and not to my personal HH account. My two accounts are already connected, I want to transfer over the 7,500 bonus points that I got for the first HFB stay. Thanks.

    No I don’t, kindly enlighten.

In the USA you could well be charged for using your card.

At a gas station for example you will see one price for cash and another for using a card.

Their merchant fees are far higher – you have the EU to thank for far lower credit card fees and the inability for companies to charge you a premium. The downside is that the market isn’t as attractive to card companies.

The rate to pay HMRC with Capital On Tap now seems to be 1.85% unless I’ve missed something – is that others experience too?

    Correct.

I assume COT are okay with this. Seems to be the cheapest route if it is possible.

But you can pay HMRC directly with COT?

Not sure of COT allow this.

I noticed HMRC wish to charge £18.50 per thousand pounds if you can use COT card. So 1.85%

    Curve charges 2.5% fronted

    Bluechain charges 2.5%

So it seems COT directly is the cheapest, but not sure of they add any fees or even allow it.

Trying to get a couple of events in December. All depends how high they go.

Not going to bid until the end!

I am sure we can polish off £400 quite easily 😂

Does anyone know the earliest time it opens?

    Just one other bit.

If you click on the sign in link again, you get a verification error.

There isn’t a way to return to the home page. Clicking on the link saying sign in again just goes round in a circle.

Needs a link to the home page.

You need a privacy document or details as to what happens to email addresses that you collect. Hopefully you are registered with the ICO

    Keep up the good work

Would make more sense to have the airports in alphabetical order by the airport code. Keeping say UK airports at the top.

At the moment the order looks a mess. I know that you ordering via the true airport name. But it still looks confusing.

I would also consider not using the actual Airport name – nobody flies to Harry Reid International for example. They fly to Las Vegas.

The problem is if they add say Disney+, many people would already have it.

Would be nice to see the Business card improved for benefits such as Hertz etc.

    Only on platinum cards

    Not BAPP

Whereas Hilton was on BAPP, but not Platinum.

I wasn’t hard credit checked – but that doesn’t mean you will not be.

    Thanks for clarifying.

Do Amex business cards show up on your individual credit files?

    No they don’t

These are business debts not personal.

Having dug deeper, I do not think it makes any difference for the insurance purposes.
