@IPC – how does that tell Amex if someone if in the same household? It might raise suspicion if the surname is the same but that’s not necessarily going to be the case. And if you surname is very common, again that’s no guarantee that 2 of you live at the same address.
They also hold American Express Cards, or financial links / associations.
As you do not buy into any of this, take a chance and roll the dice.

Do T&C’s get broken when these types of transactions get made, or is this simply an unwritten principle being broken (using Amex as cash equivalent ‘masked’ otherwise).
I’m just trying to understand in my head how the average Joe could otherwise understand this is ‘wrong’ and not unwittingly get their accounts blocked.
It is manufactured spend and also a way of exceeding the cash limits on your Amex card.
Cash Limit – This is normally set at around 20% of your credit limit
Withdrawal Limit – withdraw within a single 30-day period max £1,000
And no 3% cash advance fee for Amex.

Just being Devil’s advocate, how would Amex know if the person was in the same household?
It will appear on your Amex statement as PAYPAL *Persons Name*

If you are sending money to someone in the same household expect Amex to block all of your cards.
Big red flag.
If you value your Amex cards stop now.

Bintan Indonesia, 1 hour ferry ride from Singapore.
Oh dear, please no. Batam and Bintan are not even in the same league as Phuket or Langkawi which take just an additional hour to reach.
“We are huge wildlife and nature fans so that must factor in”
Are you recommending Phuket Zoo or the wildlife down the Bangla Road in Patong 🙂

As others have said I would also recommend Borneo to tick the wildlife and nature box. I really enjoyed the Shangri-La Rasa Ria Hotel near Kota.
To use Avois points, Malaysian Airlines has a direct service from Singapore to Kuching Borneo. Everything else is via KUL
For the entertainment, nightlife I would recommend a Thai Island.
My Bintan recommendation for the nature is based on the short amount of time that you have. Given this short period of time I would do the 5+5 as follows..
Bintan combined with a Thai Island.
For Bali I would go for the whole 10 nights . (Beach resort / Gili Islands Ubud etc)
Happy new year from Bophut Ko Samui 🙂

We aren’t big fans of nature / wildlife, so I’ll leave that for others to comment upon.
(But when they do I will disagree with any of the recommendations made)

We went to Bali for Xmas / New Year 2018. Beach front Hotels in Seminyak were 2-3 times the price of Sanur so we took an average and split it 5 nights in each. Seminyak Beach Resort / Hyatt Regency Sanur. I enjoyed both resorts, Seminyak wins on the Beach and the Sunsets but the Hyatt Regency was really good value (The new Andaz Hotel next door looks nice)
Mandarin Oriental when in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur for me.

Keep us in the loop about this. Virtually no-one has actually used one yet. Would be a bit of a pain if a domestic connection required a call.
I have no problem booking a domestic to Europe connection.
(Select economy and upgrade to Club Europe)But the BA IT will not let me have a domestic to Club World connection.

Here is what I think could be going on…
You are selecting your travel class as premium economy.
Domestic sectors do not have premium economy.

Alex V, do you have an Amex linked to Paypal?
Have you ever paid anyone associated with you via Amex / Paypal Friends and Family?
= Red Flag.

I had BA Avios flights booked MAN-LHR-BKK in April.
The BA Rep has changed them to QR flights MAN-DOH-BKK.

Data point:
Also plan to try and utilise the Mlife “loophole” to renew my Explorist status on 1st Jan 2022…
Does this show as 30 nights in your Hyatt Account? and you only need another 30 nights to get Globalist?
