Thanks all for the help above, in case helpful for anyone else in the future I’d say it was definitely worth it just for this stay. While they couldn’t upgrade me due to lack of availability they were very apologetic, they gave my wife and I an amazing couples massage (cost itself is usd400 after tax), and I will get an extra c35k points. I didn’t mention my status, they knew my status before arrival.

Waiting for a flight to MLE on the tarmac at LHR and the pilot is also saying there are IT issues but saying it’s affecting all airlines, relates to ‘load and balance’. Getting nervous!!

Ok thank you, so I won’t sign up then! We had free half board as part of our package thankfully, but yes, expecting drinks to break the bank

I had this issue a few months ago – BA resolved the problem within a few days once I showed them boarding passes etc.

Thanks all – didn’t realise this would create such a debate! I bit the bullet and called before check in opened – feel very lucky that we have been given the four seats in row 1, so no hopefully no one to be upset by being moved! The agent was very understanding and it was a fairly quick call.

As a data point, we had confirmation of £520 being paid 3 days after submitting the claim (wife is blue member).

Thanks again – currently expecting 4hr compensation which would beat the measly £4 meal voucher they offered!

Thanks – she actually got a text saying to check in by 1240, so was able to stay at home a bit longer and no need for long wait. Hopefully can collect delay compensation too!

Thank you, that’s really helpful, I’ll try that.

My ticket was actually CZ issued, I also couldn’t add the BAEC number until check in at which stage it was simple (and clearly printed on the boarding passes)

Sorry to come back to this again, but as I feared the points haven’t appeared over four weeks later. I submitted the missing points form on the BA website but this has been rejected.

Per @JDB’s advice, I still have my boarding passes, which show my BAEC number, but is there anything more I can do? The fact I could get points did away my decision over another airline so feel a bit hard done by!

Sorry to hear this hasn’t been straightforward. As a data point, two friends and I were on a delayed flight to Glasgow (technical issues, 3.5 hr delay) on 17 June – we all applied for comp on 18 June (each seaparately), had a response from BA on Friday 23 June confirming the claim, and money in all 3 accounts on Thurs 29th.

I’ll also be in this boat next week with 1 + 3year olds on Sat PM with my wife (I guess quiet for golds). Is there ever any flex?

I’d recommend Cape Town based on my own experience with children of a similar age. Fantastic climate, great food (all places have kids menus), v reasonable, no time change on flight (though it’s long), lots of activities v close (zoo, boat trip, plenty of beaches, whatle watching), reliable and reasonable nannies if you want time off.

Thanks – yes, it was the official valet parking. They did not respond to emails requesting support for the fine to be cancelled; I had to mange this with APCOA. Not a fan of the mail (!) but I think it is worth publicising the story not least given how difficult APCPA have been.
