@davefl – I’ve just seen your comment from yesterday about taking hire cars across borders. Is there a way to find out before booking? We need to hire a car at OPO but will be spending most of our time in Spain.
You definitely need to check. Many car hire companies charge you a cross border fee. E.g italy into France can be between 80 and 100 euros. Some ask for a days notice or will charge you at the counter. Discover cars and rentalcars.com have a drop down menu informing you before you book.

Below is the ruling from the CJEU in respect of delays caused by issues affecting previous rotations of the aircraft. Your friend here is the “direct causal link” and the burden of proof is on EasyJet. So, if you don’t believe, from the information you have, that there is a such a direct causal link, and that EasyJet has failed to offer proof of the causal link, put that in your final comments. The case is WZ v Austrian Airlines AG C-826/19 and although it is a post Brexit decision should carry weight.
4. Article 5(3) of Regulation No 261/2004 must be interpreted as meaning that, in order to be released from its obligation to pay compensation to passengers in the event of long delay of flights in arrival, an operating air carrier may rely on an extraordinary circumstance which affected not that delayed flight but a previous flight operated by that carrier using the same aircraft at aircraft turnaround three flights back in the rotation sequence of that aircraft, provided that there is a direct causal link between the occurrence of that circumstance and the long delay of a subsequent flight in arrival, which is for the national court to determine, taking into account, inter alia, the way in which the aircraft at issue is operated by the operating air carrier concerned.
thanks very much

Hi. any advice welcome on whether I should bother pursuing a claim with easyjet any further. My 7am flight from Edi to Geneva was delayed by 6.5hr in May. Easyjet advised extraordinary circumstances due to air traffic management issues on the flight the night before from Turkey. I took it to Aviation ADR and the response looks like the delays built up over 4 flights within the 24hrs before my flight leading to the turkey flight not being allowed to leave as staff would be outside their legal operating hours (the flight should have landed in Edi at 8.30pm the night before). On the actual morning of my flight they flew a plane in from geneva as they had no other plane. As the delays were from the day before I am unclear if this truly fits the criteria for extraordinary circumstances. Not sure what to put in the final comments for the dispute resolution site???

Seems odd that there was no acknowledgement as it is automatic with the online chat system. I have always had an acknowledgement when uploading receipts but waited a while for the formal repsonse to say if it was valid. However I have been caught a few times with the small print and the claim was not valid

I would search syndey to doha and then search doha to Edinburgh as it is direct..really cheap.if you have rhe avios.

you would probably be quicker getting the train to Edinburgh

I found booking Individual legs easier. I booked business edinburgh to Singapore then a scoot flight to oz in economy as only a few hours and 4 night stopover in singapore. I also booked business on qatar sydney to doha 70000 avios and £111 each. Then as I didn’t have enough avios economy to UK as only 7hrs but if you have enough you could get ba or qatar. The a380 from syndey with the bar appealed to me for a 15hr flight and a couple of nights stopover on doha

thanks. could not face phoning BA again as 2 previous calls have got me no where. I have booked it now on 2 seprate bookings. I now have a 6hr lay over in sydney between flights so plenty to pick up and check in again (unless I get a sensible agent in Perth who uses their discretion to book to Auckland)

The flights using avios. I do not want to fly Perth to Sydney to brisbane to auckland in 1 day when there is a perth to sydney and Sydney to auckland flight on the same.
My question was not about my choice of route but about why the avios flight shows on the ba Web page but not on the agents Web page. Thanks2nd February 2023 at 15:35 in reply to: Perth to Christchurch with Avios with Qantaslinkjintycat
it was this article I used so I phoned as per the advice, maybe I read it wrong?

I have now just searched ba website via individual legs and it is showing flights to book. clearly the ba website is not linking up the flights and not sure why the call handler did not do this if he could not use quantas link…

thanks, yes I used the voucher for 2 of us. I also have 2 barclaycard vouchers…so i think what you are saying is maybe for example in March 2024 I could fly with my barclaycard updagrade voucher to the far east and then use my ba companion return portion to come back to Uk (so long as the return flight for 2024 was booked before I flew out in October…if so I like that idea…Do I have up to a year to use the return portion?

I was 3 days before I got my avios returned to my account after cancelling on line this week…still no email from ba about a refund of any costs!!

I just cabcelled a ba flight which was part payment with some avios…i have not received an automatic refund and when cancelling it did not give me the breakdown of the cost of the refund. I now have an email from BA “thank you for the application for a refund” “we are now processing your refund and will email you when it is done…” is this a bit odd as no idea how much I am getting or when I will get my avios??

Hi
I have just booked from inverness and you can book it all the way through. you can choose stopovers but it will add to the cost as extra tax etc. if you are trying via the app it will only let you choose london and no scottish airport so may sure you use the computer. also someimtes there are no avios flights from inv/abx/edin to london available and then it looks like you cannot book through to syney. check economy avios to london individually and if this is avaialble you may need to go economy to london and business from there and you will need to phone to do that. or just try checking each sector individually and see what is availabe in businness and economy. also remeber if you choose inverness it is significantly cheaper as there is NO APD from there so choose that over ABZ.
i also someimes had to log out and in again and clear cookies as I think I did so many checks that occassionaly it said no flights when there were10th October 2022 at 22:08 in reply to: The ‘How to book the return leg with 2-4-1 companion voucher’ threadjintycat

Hi
I am looking to book a flight with outbound and return a month apart. The outbound is about to be released. From what I can understand from this thread is that I book the outbound with my 241 voucher and then in 1 month I phone (if I can get through) and book the return and they will link the return to my 241 voucher??? I will not have enough avios to book the return and then phone and ask for a refund of the avious

I have just spent over an hour on the phone to barclaycard and they tell me if I downgrade my card to just the barclaycard avios from the plus card I lose the voucher I just earnt which is in my BA account. I do not read the terms and conditions like that and got the impression they did not know what they are doing…has anyone downgraded to the free barclays card and kept their upgrade voucher?

I have the barclaycard plus credit card and now got the upgrade voucher after £10,ooo spend…I would like to dowbgrade to the free barclays card but having now spent over an hour on the phone to Barclays card they tell me if I downgrade to the free card I lose the upgrade voucher…with a paid american express once you have a companion ticket you still keep it even if you downgrade to a free card…has anyone experience of this with barclaycrd as also got the distinct impression they did not really know what they were doing
