If you have the commercial curve card. There is no limit (or charge) on the amount of spend you make to a commercial credit card. You still have a £3k fronted limit and standard daily/monthly/annual curve limits though.

Wednesday night is pricing up as 62k points as well. I assume this is the free night as its the first cheapest night out of the 5 i’m looking to book. None of the other nights shows the 32k upgrade fee so i assume its included in the daily points totals above.

All 5 nights are the same room type – Executive Suite, 1 king with sofa bed.

Another oddity, if i make it 6 night booking and add the Sunday before in…. On its own as a 1 night stay its only 72k points but booking it as 6 nights makes it 85k. Do you loose the free night if you book over 5?

    Jonathans 136 posts

Have you checked the points price for each night?

Yep, works out to 323k as i’m expecting.
    1 room for 5 night(s)
    Monday, Oct 28, 2024 85,000Points
    Tuesday, Oct 29, 2024 82,000Points
Wednesday, Oct 30, 2024 (Free night) +32,000Points (for upgrade)
    Thursday, Oct 31, 2024 62,000Points
    Friday, Nov 01, 2024 62,000Points

I’m flying BA economy, bronze status. Got Gold Sparrow through the recent promo. How do I exercise my access to priority security please – will it be on my boarding card or do I need to flash my gold sparrow membership card somewhere?

No1 was very good this week at 6am. Not busy at all nor any queue. I did reserve spaces for £6 a person using my PP. Oddly I gave my flight departure time and it said it was full so I changed it to 30 minutes earlier and it let me book.

I’d like to try the clubrooms as that looked pretty nice but as it’s adults only it’ll be about 17 years before I get the chance.

Thanks all. I eventually called youfirst who confirmed our new seats had automatically been assigned. It’s a shame manage my booking didn’t reflect this until online check-in opened but it’s all fine now.

It’s personal preference. I prefer the lying yang seats with the kids but there is not denying cs is the better seat just less convenient.

As others say, just go by your schedule requirements not plane type.

Last year I should have been on a380, a350 and b787 with ba. Ended up being 777 every time.

The whole a380 fleet has so many seat problems I wouldn’t worry about it. If you get a faulty seat you’ll get the cash equivalent back in Avios.

When it says “earn at least £35k per year.” Can one assume this means your total income, not just salary and therefore include interest earned, dividends and rental income etc?

Yes, I changed to the commercial curve card for this very reason.

    Jonathans 136 posts

Its not just Amex, lots of lenders are toughening up. I get there are rules and regulations they have to follow with their “just doing my job mate” and “computer says no” type attitudes.

But if you are a bad actor, you know how to circumvent the rules and regulations. Just look at the spike in luxury cars being sold to Azerbaijan now.

For the rest of us, it’s just a real inconvenience!

I’m in the tricky area that Amex cannot find the BAPP card I closed just over 2 years ago. Not even the full card number has helped so I’ve had to send in a statement to prove I had the card so they can investigate further. They’ve managed to find other cards I closed 3/4/5/6 years ago, but just not the BAPP one.

I believe Capital on Tap will be launching a similar service later in the year.

BOOM! It’s taken an exorbitant amount of time, but i won my Ombudsman complaint and today received the payment from Creation. Saga over!

So you got your 25k that you would have received as your Spire benefit? Anything else? Did Creation or IHG upgrade your status now?

I got the monetary equivalent because Creation no longer have a commercial relationship with IHG.

With BA last year, my seat broke in the bed position which proved a little inconvenient for a day flight and was tricky at landing. Anyway, BA gave me 80,000 avios for it.

No one wants a problem on day 1 of your holiday so I wouldn’t wait until you get there to wing it.

I used to book the cheapest room for 2 adults. Then email reservations saying I made a mistake and forgot my unborn child will have arrived by then but staying in a travel cot we will bring with us. Never had an issues.

I then repeated the process for the second child booking the cheapest 3 person room.

Both of mine are too old for this trick now and verging on the need of two rooms instead.

I think the same rule applies for commercial funding cards. Got caught out yesterday thinking it was £3k limit like fronted, but no its only £1500. A week away from the limit resetting, paid the fee and looks like I’ll now have to wait 30 days again. All getting a bit too complicated now for me.

in reply to: Amex have had enough of me!
    Jonathans 136 posts

I was declined for the BaPP and when I called Amex I was advised to reduce the limits on one card by £8k and they would reassess my application. Got accepted for the BaPP with just a £2k limit. Had to wait a month or two and then transferred some of my other remaining credit limit over.

Personally I still think the CoT route is worth it. Even without using Curve. As a tax deductible expenses it’s less than the headline rate and a good way of extracting something from the business you wouldn’t otherwise have.

I have this conundrum with two young kids. Don’t rely on BA to do anything nice or convenient to your travels pons.

To Dubai, I’ve shared the couple seats with a complete stranger. From Barbados we were all randomly seated but credit to BA ground staff at checkin they sorted that out for us before boarding.

As much as it gulls me, I pay the money.

It’s been over 5 weeks since i last heard from support regarding my ticket despite sending several chaser emails in the meantime. I sent them a final chaser two weeks ago with a 10 day deadline. They replied on day 11 saying it was still being worked on by the dedicated team.

in reply to: Applying 241 to existing booking

No, this is not possible. You would have to cancel the existing booking (paying the cancellation fee) and hope the availability returns for you to rebook the redemption with the 241 voucher.
