+1 Never got charged any monthly fees
+1 Trouble with money stuck in it
+1 Trouble with using it on a few occasions as they sent me a new one without me requesting one

Was surprised at this when it came out. A blind man could see it was going to be just a quick blast for some Avios and good night Vienna.

Sorry fellow HfP’ers if this has been answered in previous posts. I did try to search, honest!

My TP Year ends 8th October.Currently Gold.
Card Expiry date is 30th November.

If I am sitting on 800 TPs now and have the following TP run booked, will I stay on Gold or drop to silver?

Outbound 27th November – BHD-LHR-SOF (is 180 TPs, doubled with rental car is 360, bringing me to 1160
    Inbound 2nd December – SOF-LHR-BHD (as above, 360 points)

As the return leg falls beyond 30th November does that mean the 360 TPs earned flying home credit to next years TP tally or as it is in same booking, will it follow suit and count with the outbound TPs bringing me above 1500 and Gold again?

    Thanks in advance guys.

If I arrive in Terminal 5B and my connection is also from 5B, lets say gate has been allocated already, does one have to take the “Automated People Mover” to 5A or is it possible to stay in the 5B building?

Thank you to Rob and Rhys for the gesture. We should be buying you drinks given how much money hfp has saved us over the years and how much your advice has helped to improve our travel experiences.

Next time you guys are in Belfast, give me a shout and I’ll buy you the best Guinness in town!

I want to take an LH reward flight FRA-JFK for 50k M&Ms. I have Avios, Marriot Points and HSBC points, plenty there of. Should I just forget about it? I’ve never been on a 747. You think I should I try for a Korean Air 747 trip instead?

Ahh, I didn’t know that. I thought they just operated the 747-8 but it seems they still fly both to multiple destination in North America.

I’m going to do some research here. I’ve read https://www.headforpoints.com/2022/07/08/hsbc-credit-card-airline-hotel-transfer-partners/ article from 8th July. I thought HSBC points could be transferred to Lufthansa Miles but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

What a wonderful experience I just had with BA customer services. First time calling as a Gold member. Call answered and got speaking to a human in about 10 seconds. Flight cancelled no problem and full refund granted. All done in less than 2 minutes. I’m still in shock I think I need to lie down!

    Thanks guys. Advice much appreciated.

So, arrived at 17:19. Unfortunately we were made to board a bus to bring us 40 feet along the apron. Unfortunately this meant that by the time I got to the BA ticket desk there was only 29 minutes until the aircraft departed and the BA agent was unable to move me onto the 18:05 flight.

I’m now sitting in LCY very very bored.

    LOL
My bad! I meant 23rd September. I’ve double checked tonight and still unable to book a seat in First class despite the seating diagram showing 5 out of the 8 seats in the First cabin are “Available”.

I thought I read somewhere on here about the differences in price on the same flights when booking with different airlines of the same alliance. I’m getting confused. Excuse my newbie status!

    Thanks AJA.

Interesting thread. I know this is an Avios/Reward Flight discussion but it peaked my interest in different costings. I decided to have a look at my upcoming trip to NYC with AA and various prices depending on how it’s booked. Just for interest.

Conclusion: My flight AA105 on 23/08/2022 costs exactly the same (one way and return, in all classes) if booked on BA or booked on the American Airlines website.

For some reason, for Flight AA105 on 23/08/2022 it does not allow you to book a First Class seat on either website, despite vacant 1st class seats shown in the first class cabin when you click “Seats”. The aircraft is scheduled to be their 777-300 (77W) and has only been operated by a 777-200 (with no first class) 6 times since 27th March. Is there a reason for this?

Cheers. I’ve also drafted some back-up plans should one or more of the flights be delayed or cancelled on Booking 2. Hopefully, the ample layover time at JFK both inbound USA and outbound USA will be enough should a problem occur.

Does it have to be Emirates?

Or does Player 2 literally just need to be in AMD next week via the cheapest and/or most cheerful way possible?

Yep. I’d say nearly every time I try to book, buy, spend, whatever. Generally just when I want to give BA money their website makes it a bit difficult to do that! Usually a problem at card processing stage, fed up looking at “Just one moment”!! I use my BAPP every time and its on my trusted list as well. Maybe its the browser (Safari). I’ll use Opera next time perhaps.

Yep. Thanks Rob. I was hoping you guys would do an article on this! Great minds think alike eh?

I am doing my first Tier Point Run next month. I’m still relative new-bee to the Airline Points game but having wracked up 1/2 million points between myself and my wife in 20 months since first contacting you, your enthusiasm has encouraged me to use this scene as a hobby!

I will post my experiences of the slightly risky 8 flight Tier Point Run to the West Coast of America and although I am not on any social media platforms, I’m considering opening an account to share my trip.

    Cheers mate

I’ve just ‘gone bronze’ ans need another 160 for Silver before November. I’ve got 100 coming from one other Athens flight [Club o/b, Economy i/b. The o/b was a £20 upgrade they offered last year, i/b isn’t available]. So I actually need 60 points before Nov. Any suggestions folks? Thanks

I did a quick search there for you and LHR-Warsaw, BA Cub Europe, same day return for £256 on 7th November. Cutting it fine I know! A cancelation would mean game over for this year.

Hey. I’m in a similar boat. Doing a risky Tier Point run to USA with AA to earn 640 TPs which will bring me to 1130 TPs 6 days before my year ends on 8th October. Just scraping into Gold for the first time by 5 points. I wouldn’t mind being a little bit safer just incase one of the USA legs is cancelled. I think a reasonably cheap European hop, even same day hop over and back to get 80 TPs would make me feel a bit more at ease. Suggestions welcome! I live in Belfast, so ex-DUB is an option to LCY in CE, which I will probably bank a day or two before year end just incase.

Thanks for the advice everyone. No such problems arose. Both flights were a little delayed but not by much. It was an extremely pleasant experience.

So, from my Car to the Business Lounge in Dublin T1 took me about 7 minutes. The Club Europe ticket allowed me to use the Fast Track security lane. This was practically empty with only 2 or 3 people in front of me. They have stopped selling Fast Track for cash.

I’ve looked back at the Dublin T1 Departures for mid-afternoon 2pm to 5pm and it seems there were only a handful of flights which could theoretically include business class and therefore a Fast Track ticket. I have excluded the low cost carriers here, because although Ryanair and Vueling do offer Fast Track, I don’t think there’s much uptake of that fare. A few dummy bookings show Ryanair charge nearly 3 times the price for a Flexiplus ticket and Vueling appear to charge an extra 40 Euros or so.Generally they are more price sensitive so it would be silly to pay over 100 Euros for a 1 way flight including a checked bag when the same flight sells for say around 50 Euros, again, including a checked bag.

After landing, doors opening and leaving the aircraft I was on the pavement outside LCY in 2 minutes. DLR ride 1 stop to meet a friend for coffee and returned about an hour later. Stepping off the DLR and walking to the Duty Free store airside took 3 minutes and 42 seconds!! It is a world away from arriving in LHR, or Gatwick/Stansted/Luton as I have done recently.

Apologies for the long post, but I was so impressed that I had to tell this. I told my wife when I got home but she wasn’t that interested!

Does anyone know if there are other methods of going through DUB T1 Fast track if one doesn’t have a J class ticket? Amex Centurian? BA Gold status? I know Aer Club Silver upwards grants access but they mainly fly from T2.
