    I think going full nuclear with them definitely doesn’t work… evidence does however!

    Update – they’ve now relented based on the evidence provided and they’ve agreed to put the full 100k into her account.

    My wife has actually managed to find the chat where they tell her that she’s only had a Business Gold in the period… let’s see what they say when we re-open the case.

    If you kept a record of the chat, that’s going to help. I screenshot anything anyone from Amex or anywhere else tells me these days! Last year I had a battle with Amex over a £100 Hyatt credit; they insisted I had never saved the offer and only backed down when I produced photographic evidence.

    Agreed. I screenshot everything. Crazy we feel the need to – but we do.

    We will be doing so from now on – have always found Amex customer service to be excellent so hadn’t seen the need to. Also going to be writing down the exact dates of card closures etc now…

    Thanks all – it’s very frustrating and just another bloody thing to sort out in an already busy world! I’ll see if we can talk nicely to them and get some recompense.

    Turns out that my status with RJ hadn’t updated properly to ‘Silver Jay’. Took a bit of detective work but got there in the end… thanks for the help and suggestions all.

    @lamptonpie – have you tried since 08.50, as the seven day seat selection won’t become available until the departure time a week ahead. Alternatively, have you checked that the FF number was properly recorded via RAM. If none of that applies, then chat should be able to resolve.

    Yep – tried on the dot of 8.50 and have tried since to no avail. Have checked both RAM and directly in the booking and can see my RJ FFP number in there. Will give the chat team a shout. Thanks

    I used the £150 in Dec-23 so guess I’m able to get the £150, then the £100 in Jan, plus the same for HN – £50 this month and £50 next?

    Have you asked for a 50k retention bonus yet?

    Yes – got one mid-year as I was going to cancel but a couple of additional family trips meant the maths worked out from using the lounges.

    My wife has just signed up for Platinum too, so thinking I keep this until January and £250 of dining credit and £100 of HN too and then get a pro-rata refund?

    Renewal not until October but asked about cancelling today and was offered 50k MR. Spend about £4-5k a month on the card.

    Was this your first retention offer?

    Yes – had a 2 year gap from platinum and came back in October 2023 to it.
