Also there was some discussion here about VAT on the ‘Convenience Fee’ charged by Bluechain – I was looking for some sort of invoice on their webportal to show their charge within the payment. The best i’ve got is a receipt which shows zero vat on the Convenience Fee. Is there anywhere else on the portal I haven’t found yet with a more official ‘invoice’ style document??
Isn’t this a financial charge which outide the scope of VAT?
mark2 133 postsRe the Morrison’s offer.
Just today I have received the statement credits for purchases at stores which are not on the list.
mark2 133 postsRe the Morrison’s offer.
The list of participating branches on the offer line does not include the three branches nearest to us, but does include further away branches.
I have tried a purchase using a card which usually gets an email and nothing so far.Just something to bear in mind.
23rd June 2024 at 08:27 in reply to: Gift cards – best way to stack offers for a discount?mark2 133 postsPlease can you provide more detail about Morrisons Gift Cars not being able to be used for normal shopping?
I used a Morrison’s gift card for normal shopping a week ago.
mark2 133 posts@NorthernLass I did once ask US Border how long they kept my fingerprints to which he said “no idea, that’s above my pay grade”…
A few years ago we flew into Seattle and after about five days crossed into Canada to get onto a cruise ship which required going through US immigration again. When I pointed out my very recent entry I was told that they did not keep the finger prints which may or may not be true.
3rd May 2024 at 22:36 in reply to: Cancelling Amex Platinum – where does the pro rata fee refund go?mark2 133 postsAs @Entitled said above (and I have always done) make sure that you owe more than the refund when you cancel.
also move any points or you will lose them.26th April 2024 at 06:28 in reply to: Thinking of stumping up the cash instead of using points…..mark2 133 postsSince the pricesses are grown up, have you considered going two people on one day and other two on next day?
mark2 133 postsThanks for the replies.
I think it is more trouble than it is worth.mark2 133 postsNot a film, but Shakespeare and Hathaway are filmed round where we live, including in an empty house opposite.
It is amazing how much time and many people it takes to film a couple of minutes!mark2 133 postsOn offers you’d actually use enough, it doubles the return, i.e. on an offer with £80 credit on £400 spend, add to both cards, I just split some shopping into two orders, one on each card, and made an extra £80.
This is true of some offers but many/most only appear on the main card.
mark2 133 postsI third Quebec City. An amazing station with two fine dining restaurants (before Covid).
If you are having a hire car, go to Parc Omega, a wildlife park with bison, elk, other deer, bers etc. Nearby is Fairmont Chateau Montebello, my favourite hotel, worth a quick visit just to see it.
10th February 2024 at 20:57 in reply to: Cancel Amex gold/ later be added as 2nd cardholder to partner’s accountmark2 133 postsYou don’t get referral points or SUBs for supplementary cards – IIRC there might be a 3k MR bonus for adding a first supp to a gold card but don’t hold me to that!
Actually this was asked the other day (albeit in relation to the BAPP) 😂
I just got an Additional card for my wife and got 3,000 + extra 3,000 on pomotion.
mark2 133 postsAlso ensure that the Rewards card is added to the Gold card MR account to preserve the points (not automatic)
1st February 2024 at 09:21 in reply to: Pre-paid Debit Card – savings / investment optionsmark2 133 postsYou do not mention the amounts involved.
As well as these saving routes, I used to use pre-paid cards to pay things which allowed partial payment e.g. council tax, utlities either online or through PayPoint etc. You can also top up Amazon and maybe PayPal.
As the Urbanite says, some of us used to buy hundreds or even thousands of prepaid cards especially 3V from Tesco and get 7.2 Avios per £. Ah the good old days!mark2 133 postsMany thanks for the advice.
mark2 133 postsJust tried on Windows 10 and Edge on old desktop and no problem!
mark2 133 postsSuperdrug £5 back on mine, but also on Additional cards.
mark2 133 postsI would like to second the incompetence of Virgin Money, in particular the credit card operation.
17th October 2023 at 14:30 in reply to: Help me plan my US trip please [was Hilton or Marriott – best for US stays?]mark2 133 postsWe stayed once in Residence Inn (Marriott) Boston Waterfront. The room was superb (a small apartment) but included breakfast was abysmal. Fortunately there was a Cafe Nero in the same building which had better food esp. muffins than in the UK.
You also need to remeber that each have multiple brands with many hotels in each which are owned and managed separately from Hilton or Marriott.
mark2 133 postsB&M offer on supplementaries too.
mark2 133 postsAnd get her supplementary after the issue of your main card, rather than during the application process (unless this has changed).
mark2 133 postsI would not get the BAPP (but am drowning in Avios).
But I believe that I would get better redemption availability with a companion voucher.mark2 133 postsWhen I stayed there about five years ago I rang Holiday Extras and upgraded to a refurbished room for about £13.,
mark2 133 postsI discovered today that Superdrug no longer sell third party gift cards.
mark2 133 posts£5 back when you spend £20 at Superdrug.
BA Blue and cashback
Used to sell gift cards.
