Thought I would update this with a more recent experience.
Recently added as a supplementary card holder on Platinum card.
Already have BA card on App but unable to add Platinum card.
AMEX chat agent advised not possible because of different address even though we have same address. Then told me he would request it to be added in 7-10 business days but could not guarantee it would happen.Tried removing Platinum card from it’s new online profile and now it won’t even let me add it back or add it to existing App. Wants me to create a 3rd online profile when trying to add it. Truly awful system Amex are using.

Thank you. Appreciate it.
Assume they were the non refundable version?
Actually might be cheaper direct with United if they were.
Very annoying that the US version of the Platinum card looks so much better value than the UK version and the sign up bonus on it is currently 125000.

Thanks for the info.
Sounds like it’s not worth taking the benefit into my calculations as to whether the card is worth the fee.
If only they were doing the 80000 bonus points on personal and not just the business version. If someone was able to check these flights it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for all your replies.
This was yesterday September 5th. The flight from Portland was actually early and we had plenty of time to connect.
BA sent us this text which clearly says they will not cover the cost of travel between airports. This is also written in the complaints leaflet they gave us.
We’re sorry the BA1448 on 05 Sep 2024 LHR-EDI is cancelled. You are rebooked on BA8710 05 Sep 2024 LCY 1900 EDI 2020. Please accept flight on ba.com/mmb or call +443444930787. Travelling to or from a different point may incur additional expenses BA will not cover.
The original flight scheduled to land at 16:45. The flight we were on landed 20:24
They told us there were no seats available on any other BA flights from LHR and they could not book flights with another airline.

We have this same trip planned for our anniversary next year as well. This will be our third time. What we learnt after the 1st visit is to break up the outbound journey by stopping on the West Coast for a few days to start adjusting to the time difference. When we first went in 2017 we flew Edinburgh, Heathrow, LAX, Honolulu and it took us 4 days to feel properly adjusted. When we went in 2019 to get married we stopped in LA for 3 days and kept busy with sightseeing while there. When we arrived in Honolulu from LA this time it made a huge difference and would definitely not recommend flying straight through. Going via San Francisco next year with a 3 day stop to adjust.
As someone else said I would recommend adding another island. Big Island and Maui are both good options. Sadly Lahaina where we stayed both times in Maui was destroyed by a wildfire. The whole island is beautiful though. Volcano National Park on Big Island is also worth a visit.19th July 2024 at 09:15 in reply to: BA Avios reward flight amendment – still no BA emailMR87 14 posts
Had the same issue recently. Took them 4 days to amend. As the previous post said what you need is the ticket number to show in the app.
Agent told us it could take up to a week depending on how busy that department was.MR87 14 posts
Thank you for confirming.
Much appreciated

If you already had the basic Avios card what reason would they have for not giving you the card they are getting a monthly fee for?

Thanks
Seems like it’s best to downgrade and upgrade the Barclaycard as needed when we have got most of the way through our Amex spend.
