Thanks for flagging the insurance issues I will double check what cover we have in place.
@LondonFly I know people with similar situation with Ryanair they cancelled the TLV to Berlin leg and are refusing anything other than a free Ryanair flight I assume the LCC try it on and assume passengers will just accept their position.Nepweno 17 postsTo clarify we are still more than 14 days out on the return flight travel is for a family event and deemed essential travel for Travel insurance (my opinion). The issue is just getting back for work commitments/school.
We did offer being split up which didnt help.
We prefer the stop over option as it would get us back around the same time. It seems strange that Virgin cant see the sense in getting 5 people off the busier route who are willing to accept a stop over even if it may cost a small amount to place on a partner (Air France) I find it hard to believe the cost of CDG to LHR is the issue rather than just a blanket policy decision for usual cancelations which is nonsensical when dealing with many flgihts cancelled back to back on an already very busy route.
The fact is the manager offered a stopover originally. There was then a back and forth to the manager as after his approval the CS agent initially offered Elal to Milan and BA on to London but this was not allowed by the manager as they could only reprotect using a direct BA service not with Elal and BA I suspet this may have been due to not being able to ticket as a connection leaving me exposed if delayed. The TLV-CDG (elal) CGD – LHR (AF) was deemed acceptable but the ticketing department said it went against current protocols put in place for this route which is the issue here did they have the right to put a protocol like this in place?
@JDB appreciate the guidance would add though the guidlines referring to stopovers would be applicable if it were Virgin inssiting I take a stopover here I am offering to.Thanks everyone for your help on this.
Nepweno 17 posts@JDB thanks for your advice here.
So if I understand correctly its ultimately a negotiation, the issue with this is there is nothing I can use to negotiate they have dug heels in and say we have offered you a direct flight 2 days late. Are there any rules or law that I can use against them to offer a reasonable alternative ?
Has anyone had experience of a rerouting option with stopover I would have thought its pretty standard procedure as a cancelled flight means rebooking everyone on the same route which would always take some time to have enough seats available whereas a stopover makes use of less busy routes.
Nepweno 17 postsAny clue as to what this is referring to?
It seems like a major blow for those who greatly benefited from Bendy, especially with the new changes being introduced on July 13th, including 6211. Does anyone know of any alternatives to Curve that might allow exploiting the same opportunities?
23rd January 2024 at 13:40 in reply to: Problems using Creation Premium Free Night VoucherNepweno 17 posts@ Froggee thanks for checking so clearly blocked by the Venetian it would seem.
@ NorthernLass not that I am aware of I was sure there were no restrictions on the UK Premium Credit Card Free Night
Is there something in the Ts and Cs which excludes use at any kind of “resort” property?
Hi
It is the same for me as it is for you with the free night voucher at the Venetian. Fails at click through.
So I tried a Holiday Inn in Glenrothes next week. (Nobody in their right mind would stay there in January). It worked fine.
Then I tried the Regent in Hong Kong which will be well past 40,000 points. It was fine.
Venetian can be booked fine with points.
So I expect there must be some weird quirk with that hotel and the free night voucher.
23rd January 2024 at 11:01 in reply to: Problems using Creation Premium Free Night VoucherNepweno 17 postsThanks so much Froggee for checking. My voucher must be broken I have been trying to get this point across to them for a couple of weeks now.
I have been using the IHG website.
Interestingly it does show as free on the night I want on the results page along with the other hotels but once you click through to the hotels room choice page it says:
”Your preferred rate is not available as requested. Please modify your stay dates or select from the available rates.”
I get this message on all dates.
I have also tried now the 12th March 2024 and same issue shows as free but when I click to hotel it says rate not available. Points that night are 28k so I find it impossible that they dont have Free night available!
Please can you double check you can get past the room choice page using the free night?
If so please can you check Feb 17th then I will be fully prepared to follow up with IHG as currently that sells at 106k points and only as part of 2 nught stay making it even harder to convince them I should be able to use the voucher…
Hello
Two possibilities:
1) your voucher is broken
2) you’re using the IHG appI just checked a random night at the Venetian (12 March) and they would be delighted to have me stay using my Creation free night voucher.
Happy to check any specific problem nights for you if the app isn’t the issue.
Nepweno 17 postsCurve has come back to me and said all fronted transaction count towards the allowance whether you paid a fee or not. I’m not going to spend more time fighting for 13p, but just thought I would share the outcome.
I got caught out missing that tax free childcare is now under the fronted rules and so breached my limit. Assume the word tax in the title is the issue. Anyway I then assumed that my limit was available again only to be charged.
This is crazy if you spend £3k on the 1st of the month and then pay the fee to spend £3k on say 29th of the month which will then mean no fee free until 30th of the following month!
Nepweno 17 postsThanks Rui and JDB. Only worried in terms of wasting a credit check maybe I am too pedantic but with a possible mortgage application on horizon I try stick to 1 check every 6 months which makes juggling cards harder than ever.
Nepweno 17 postsDo they run a credit check if just want basic account to access the 1.5% interest savings account ?
Also is there a maximum you can save at 1.5%?
thanks!

But in future without creation won’t be able to reach anything meaningful. Is there a soft landing so will start as Diamond this year and then drop a level every year thereafter?
