Presuming it’s just BA IT being useless but trying to book a BA Holiday which includes an AA operated connection outbound, and the holidays page won’t offer me the flights, but the flight only page will. Presuming I can get it to wake up, or speak to someone to book it, am I correct thinking will still count as a holiday for double TPs but may not include the AA leg depending on how it’s numbered, but would still collect double on the initial BA operated outbound and the BA return?

Two weeks ago, arrived about 8pm Friday, felt quite busy, but through inside 10 minutes even with half an A320 in the queue ahead of us.. bags another 10 after that.

LHR SOF return (if day’s connection is over 1hr, or 2 overlapping bookings if the 50 minute connection) pricing at around £240 per trip on several days in November December and January, so just around £500 for 320TP, no hotel required, or night stop near LHR if consecutive days…

Take the money. DUB-LHR-SFO-PSP, booked on AA.com, £1350. Exactly the same flights on BA website was £1850. Who cares why, or that obviously they’ll be sharing the money anyway, go with the cheaper surely….

Thanks all, yes bags included, and also it turns out free selection of “preferred seats” and “extra legroom seats”.

Our local Domino’s Pizza stopped accepting about a year ago, despite their homepage saying they accept Amex. Not sure if it’s a franchise decision thing, or a Domino’s lead group decision, or a website issue.

We cashed ours in for Amazon vouchers, approx £130 each back for a £1780 each business class ARN_SYD fare. Excellent return I thought. Maybe some other airlines would like to follow suit?

Booked with BA, ticketing shows BA flight number, operated by Aer Lingus, economy class.

Thanks, not really an issue, just contemplating how many more I’ll need to keep silver. It’s a cheap DUB fare, booking says it will earn 420 TP, which I can only make work if we get 60TP for a domestic AA leg which is stated as first class, so 60, not the 40 TP for the first connection which is on alaskan. Curiously I will earn 25,741 Avios, and my wife 22,555. Perhaps she’s getting a short cut?

Its on Alaska, and we’re silver, but not sure if a bag would be included as silver given it seems not included as a reward flight?

Thanks, but unfortunately going via Aerclub results in “combine my avios is not available at present”, Iberia don’t seem to have my physical address, and everything I can find as a possibility simply ‘freezes’

I’m presuming now that there will be no ‘fare difference’ as the original option of 125k+£1500 is still an option in the drop down after the headline 180k+£900. so just the £70 change fee.

Qwerty, flights between JNB-CPT and vice versa are plentiful and cheap. In 7 flights back from CPT to JNB our luggage has been through checked 6 times, it just seems to be the first question, no matter who you’re flying with. The only time we missed out was when we had about a 30 hour difference in flights, don’t know if it was because of that or agent just feeling particularly grumpy. Anyway, enjoy…

Definitely get on a ferry and spend an hour floating around the various ‘islands’, and highly recommend Vasa museum, the Swedish equivalent of the Mary Rose. If the weather is OK, lots of parks to wander, ABBA museum because, well, you’re there aren’t you, Alfred Nobel gravestone, again just because, and can combine with walk up to Haga Park. I seem to think it’s about 30 something Krona for a ticket which does indeed last an hour and a quarter for pretty much all public transport.
Pre book the train from airport into town will save a bit, presuming you’re flying in and out.Not Long Now... 150 posts
I got through on the silver line 6 times last week, all within 5 minutes. Unfortunately, every time the rep refused to help as I wanted to make a new (holiday) booking, and they were insistent they couldn’t help.

AJA, the trouble is, we want econ out and prem econ back (hoping to UUA). BA’s IT just can’t seem to allow that if you start on ‘holidays’, but manages fine starting on ‘multi city’.

Thinking devil’s advocate, perhaps I should book the above options, then call within 24hrs to cancel. If I’m allowed to cancel then it’s not a holiday package, and I’ve lost nothing, and if I’m not allowed to cancel because it’s a holiday package, I can claim the double tier points…
One day, I really hope BA sort their IT out…24th June 2022 at 13:42 in reply to: When does a flight and car booking become a “holiday”Not Long Now... 150 posts
Clarity is indeed the key, unfortunately I’m struggling to find it…
“For the avoidance of doubt this offer does not apply to any British Airways flight only bookings made without a hotel or car or where the hotel or car is added to a booking in a separate transaction.British Airways Hotline bookings are also not included in the offer”. Well the booking is coincident, not separate, however
“A “Qualifying Booking” is a British Airways Holidays booking that meets all of the following criteria:
a. The booking must be for a British Airways Holidays Flights + Hotel or Flights + Car or Flights + Hotel + Car package booking originating in the UK only and the hotel or car element of the booking must be booked for the duration of the trip. ”
Is the booking a BA Holidays booking? Possibly not as it’s made via the book a flight link not the BA holidays link?23rd June 2022 at 14:21 in reply to: Sedona Arizona: Recommendations for 3 night stay .Not Long Now... 150 posts
Ridge on Sedona Golf Resort by Diamond resorts. Came back last week, absolutely loved this place, I know it’s not technically in Sedona itself but it’s a 5 minutes drive, and so much cheaper and larger than nearly everything in Sedona itself. We had a standard suite, which was basically a large one bedroom flat, best bath we’ve had in the states for years (actually a bath, not a shower/puddle combo), lovely, and includes washer/dryer in apartment if you’re road tripping. Shops, bars and restaurants a 5 minute walk away (Clark’s market a great supermarket option for cooking in your own kitchen if you fancy a night self catering, which we did having found prices of restaurants especially seem to have doubled in the last few years)…

I’ve just had my plain blue Amex rewards card cancelled “as a security measure” after 12 months of inactivity. I called, and was told nothing could be done, but if I wanted to keep the points alive rather than transferring them, I was welcome to apply for the gold card. Completely my fault, the monthly statement does give a specific warning that unless used within a month, account will be closed, but obviously I missed that, and indeed my diary note reminding me to use it or lose it. I now have 1 month to reapply or transfer, or the points disappear. So just be aware, it will automatically cancel if you just put it away and forget about it.

What silver benefits will you make use, and how many times, in the following year, and what is the ‘cash’ value you attach to each? If the answer to this is more than the cost of A or B, then go for whichever you prefer. If not, ignore the Silver chase and use the money elsewhere…

QRA, i’m leaning towards a similar decision on the 2-4-1, although of course you’re still burning Avios in this example, and the earnings rate on the BAPP is very good…but is it good enough to justify keeping? When compared to welcome bonuses and card rinsing, probably not.
