Just as an update.. I called back later and made the booking without issue so it does appear to be at the phone operators discretion. So HUACA worked in this instance.

At a minimum I would be requesting the difference between PE and J plus compensation (8000 is a laugh). An UC seat that can’t go flat is a PE seat as far as I would be concerned.

… I relentlessly persued BA for denied boarding under EU261 and won, and also got a good understanding of their ‘backoffice’ and how they manually do things.

Very generous of BA. The denied boarding provisions of EC261 don’t apply “where there are reasonable grounds to deny them boarding, such as… inadequate travel documentation”

Not very generous of them. Failure of BAs ticketing team to do their job and not communicate with the passenger is not reasonable grounds for denying boarding. Inadequate travel documentation refers to visas, passports, vaccination docs etc.

As an update: Miles arrived this morning by 7am. Unfortunately the seat had disappeared some time between 23:00 yesterday and 7am this morning. That extra day can make all the difference ☹️

Thanks Rob. I must have done 20+ transfer and all have been next day. Fingers crossed they’re there tomorrow!

Any recent data points on transfers? I have always had mine post overnight but yesterday evening I transferred 100k and it still hasn’t posted today.. I’m thinking perhaps it’s to do with today being a Sunday but getting a bit worried since there’s only one seat left on the flight I need. Anyone ever had a similar problem with Sundays?

    1) Correct
    2) Incorrect. The number of avios is set by Iberia (the table is available Here)
    3) No. You will pay the tax and fuel surcharges. Look up the fare on ITA matrix and you will be able to work out the amount.
    4) Look on United.com for availability and do it by individual sector. Fare code is I and Iberia should also be able to book it.
    5) Correct (unfortunately)

Out of interest, is the fare difference not also payable on top of the compensation? Surely the compensation is exactly that to cover the inconvenience and the fare difference is due because the product provided is different to what was purchased?

The fare difference between J and Y is often significantly more than 75% of the J fare so doesn’t seem fair.

Yeah I would say get an ICC if the country you’re in uses EUR or USD. Probs the only way to keep earning MR without spending ludicrous amounts on foreign currency exchange fees.

Hmm That seems to work out quite well. I would usually be expecting about 50K + PA corporate tax + VAT. So a set fee of £180 + £99 PA for the Curve Metal and CoT card. So as long as I am spending at least 5 x 10k a year I would consider that okay value =)

Or does curve metal show as a personal debit card and therefore not carry the 1.5% even when paying corporate tax?

Thanks guys. I think the Curve and Capital on Tap would make sense but the 1.5% would negate the benefits as Carlos mentioned. No point paying 1.5p per mile.

Just been reading more and seen that corporate tax even with debit card carries 1.5% fee =( So none of the same options for personal tax are available for corporate tax.
