BA pe is significantly better than Etihad economy. Flown del-lon multiple times on different airlines, economy doesn’t even come close to the comfort of PE. The middle east airlines are great, but their economy is similar to economy of any other airline like BA, virgin etc, if you compare the seat width, pitch, recline.

I dont know how people favor BA over VS, avios requirements for BA is sky high for reward seats. I can only speak for Uk-India as that is what I travel.
PE return ticket offpeak DEL-LHR (valuing each point/avios at 1p)
VS: 35k points + £500 = £850
BA: 95K avios + £330 = £1280

Business:
VS: 75k points + £800 = £1550
BA: 180k avios + £450 = £2250
