Greetings from the Finnair Platinum Wing near gate 52: a sea of calm and tranquility, table service (reindeer burger anyone) and quite different to the Schengen lounge used last time and an even bigger contrast to NCL which is usually full of PU Geordies goin to Alicante!

Use Easyjet to Madrid and book a TP run from their to reduce taxes and pick a destination from there. If that cost greater than trip to LHR, Sofia is always popular or Athens which are both 80 points Business class and bolt on a day trip within the UK.IF B Class too rich turn it into a holiday and double up on TP

Is it fairly easy to get through to BA Holidays? I might be going to take a deep breath and try and book an 8-sector trip for next year for 640 TPs!
I put together an 8 leg trip on ITA for 720, called BA gold and they could not book it even though I gave flight numbers and dates! It kept falling over on the 3rd leg jfk/lax, TBF to agent I emailed her my trip but she came back not bookable and even checked with her manager so good luck. Then tweaked and tried to spit it into AA booking and again it fell over. More than a tad frustrating as TP was just under 1.70 per TP

Thanks @JDB. Tbf we’ve always had a good experience most recently at The Willard. It’s also her birthday so she gets first dibs on hotel picks and as you say IC Barclay is a marked hotel so will have upped their game.

This reply from IC Barclay so methinks we will stay as OH likes the IC brand
The safety and security of our guest is of utmost importance. Rest assured that the hotel has been considered safe by the Department of Health to accommodate our guests, and for using the water for drinking, showering, brushing your teeth and other purposes. We have not had any recent cases.
Last month, the New York City Department of Health (hereinafter “DOH”) requested our cooperation to collect and test a variety of water samples throughout the building. The testing revealed very low levels of Legionella bacteria present in some of the samples collected. The DOH deemed it safe to continue operating and for guests to stay at the hotel while remediation work was underway.
We are pleased to share that we have successfully completed our remediation efforts, and our most recent interim sampling did not indicate any signs of the bacteria present within the hotel facilities.

Booked into IC Barclay way back in April before this broke. Just dropped hotel an email for update and may move if needs be. Somehow though can’t see hotel saying it’s a health hazard don’t come! Was/Is a good price points as well 🙁

@Stevecroydon nice to see you off the long run and glad it wasn’t just me this am! Switched browsers/cleared history/changed computers etc and each time fell over once hotel chosen and went to pay! Called Goldline and booked with an explanation that “always difficult when a sale is launched” though tbf it wasn’t his fault and he was very helpful. So nice 480 TP bagged for 2024/25 It is however exceedingly annoying that BA are aware but do FA to sort!

Wowser @davedent. Who you booking that with and what’s the total Tier Points

It’s getting to be pretty standard to see other passengers on MAN-LHR flights distraught because they’re going to miss connections. N.B. = Night Before!
We always get the first flight out of NCL and kill time in the Galleries First lounge. Someone at a call centre once told me that crew reposition on that flight so rarely gets binned though do occasionally treat ourselves to a night in the Sofitel

Our village pub never used to take it “I’m not funding your air miles” but recently switched credit card machine provider and bingo plus he’s happy as well.

A trip to Bridge over the River Kwai was a must when we were there: plenty of options through Trip Advisor

We have seats so we just rock up at NCL, check in and collect BP and move smoothly though the airport with no stress WSE

Thanks: did TP run with BA earlier in the year and business lounge was great. Was looking at flying from HEL but GLA could be a quicker route to KEF and probably cheaper but I do like the A330/350. Will keep on playing with options till I find one that works while avoiding UK passenger duty

Anyone able to add some recent experiences: nice priced flight to the US atm
