We wait and see! I will probably be schooled in seconds and told to take the UC upgrade on the outbound, which is my primary thought at the moment.. and then if two PE seats appear on the inbound I’ll pay points or cash for them

This was what I was saying on the phone earlier to the agent but she said she couldn’t do that.. unless I cancelled everything and took on cancellation fees etc, I feel like I need to speak to someone at virgin who really knows what they are doing, a real mess has been made of it, I just want them to retrospectively apply it to the flight to give half my points back on the outbound

Who knows, I think the agents are confused as us sometimes! So far I’ve used half a voucher to reduce the cost of the flight back to 20k points, so I suppose upgrading on the way out makes sense…

    Other half aswell

Yeah as it stands no availability coming home in any other class so think I will take the UC upgrade and see what happens over the coming months for upgrading to PE on the inbound, thanks

Yeah when I booked the outbound it was a mess, the first person booked me to the wrong island after I confirmed several times St Lucia.. the second person I called didn’t understand what I was trying to do so hung up.. the third person took 5 mins and sorted it… Problem is it looks like half a voucher may go to waste..

Although when I rang back just now to get options they said I could go from PE to UC on the journey out as that had availability without any cost except taxes… Which weren’t that terrible.

The journey back only has economy availability currently, I don’t know whether to take the plunge and go UC so I don’t lose half the voucher OR wait it out and see if more PE seats appear for my journey back to upgrade to using half the voucher. Gaaaaaaah

I discussed with the phone agent on the outbound how I needed to use it and they said just quote it on the return…(But difficult as that return journey I was planning on doesn’t exist…)

I just spent some time on the phone with an agent and they seemed bamboozled by me trying to go back and apply it.. do I just try someone else? 😂

I’m pretty sure this is within the rules. They have a lot of leeway with it anyway, so just point out that there are now no flights back from UVF so you need to find another option.

Got my flight booked, sadly they currently only have economy on the way back from Grenada… will keep an eye out for PE…

What confused me more is the phone agent used half my voucher.. so I have half left? (of course I think about this when I’ve hung up…doh!)

Do I ring back and ask for them to retrospectively use the other half of the voucher on the flight out that i’ve already booked. Because they made the mess…

Excellent, thanks for your swift reply!

Bahamas, Barbados, Grenada or Miami seem to be the most suitable for when we want to fly back!

Keep us updated! My trip is getting sillier by the minute – MAN-LHR-GCM (BA), then GCM-NAS (BA), NAS-BIM-NAS (to be booked on WesternAir), NAS-LHR (VS), then LHR-MAN (BA), crammed into 3 weeks. The things I do so that my OH can get his scuba fix 😂

I was planning on calling virgin tomorrow to discuss options, and the fact they didn’t tell me over the phone when I booked the flight out I couldn’t book the return as it wouldn’t exist…

Would you expect them to allow me to use my companion voucher if I flew back from another island?

Did you manage to find the availability for early April?!

Hopped on seatspy and there was a variety of availability that ha different AA points costs, been a long day so will pick it back up another time!

It just occurred to me that as SeatSpy shows availability with AA miles prices, presumably you can set it for the lowest amount on your route and that will translate to availability via BA?

I’ve always found AA redemptions quite easily so never bothered to get my head round the complexities before!

I’ve given up for today, will attempt again at some point 😂

Appreciate you’re new but I’m bored of answering this and also appreciate the search on here is broken 🙂

Use google to search, type headforpoints.com and then AA saver you’ll get these topics

    Appreciated! Thank you!

AA miles are different from avios. You need to book with avios, unless you have AA miles, unless @davefl has a way around this.

Oh yeah I know! Just trying to figure how I can eventually get to it 😂

AA using miles shows 35000 miles + 88.60 pp when looking on their site for the day I want..

If you search April 1st you will see the costs. Think it was showing 14.5K avios plus £128 in economy. Each island has their own departure tax which dictates the cash element so you may get better value with cash.

What are you using to search? The app or a certain link? I’ve tried the app and BA search 😂

If you read the threads where I explained this many times, you’ll understand why you can’t see availability on many dates.

    I’m on it, cheers

Was looking at March 31st using AA, was trying to figure out how many avios it would actually be as part of a few plans I have, the avios search just doesn’t show anything, would be good to understand costs

I’m totally impressed with this even though I don’t really understand it, anything with that many abbreviations has got to be good 🙂

When we finally get our longed for 241 voucher I was thinking about the Caribbean, I suspect I might be putting up a lot of ‘please help me’, type posts.

    Good luck with it! 😂

Isn’t Barbados and St Vincent the same VS flight? Is there availability left for your dates?

    @Rob
might be interested to know the UVF route seems to have gone again! I think HFP reported the stopping and starting last time.

Checked, there’s availability for me to go home from Barbados! Miami too.. oh what to do 😂

MIA, as I just posted! Use avios on AA.

ATL on DL might be another possibility – Virgin might even do this on one ticket for you, with the voucher applied from ATL.

Discovered I can take flights from SLU (the smaller airport on St Lucia) to Barbados,St Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica and Trinidad & Tobago… options!

@Scriv09, you can fly into one island and out of another using the Virgin or BA vouchers (you’d need to make your own arrangements to get between islands), however I checked and there aren’t many routes like this from St Lucia.

    @ed_fly
, the last weekend in March is the end of the winter season, e.g. the NAS route has gone from 3 to 2 flights per week from March 31st.

Is there anywhere direct you can fly to from St Lucia to then grab a Virgin flight home? I’m struggling haha!

in reply to: Reward flights to St Lucia

Only running as in the route ends altogether or still only currently bookable up till then?

Can you book BA as an interim Plan B until more info is available?

Other option would be to connect to somewhere like MIA or ATL and get VS back from there, though I appreciate it’s a lot of extra hassle!

Word for word it was “Next years route to St Lucia is operating up until 28th March only.”

Surprising that they’ve chopped the schedule by a month and a half..

I’m surprised thier schedule for this year was not aligned with iata summer/winter seasons. Is this a common thing?

Got really thrown by it as checked this years schedule and planned around it.. to remove over a month and a half of the schedule just seems weird

I can’t see them dropping BGI. As I said upthread, there have been negotiations historically with VS asking the government of St Lucia for cash incentives (or something like that) to bring extra tourism to the island, and at least once the government has said no, leading to the route being dropped.

    @SCriv09
, any inter-island routes which might help? Though if you’re not absolutely pinned on St Lucia, there are plenty of other options – let me introduce you to Grand Cayman (if you haven’t been already)!

Might shift my dates for St Lucia – one of the reasons is because I was going to use the Companion voucher with it, don’t think inter island routes work with this do they?
