I stayed a few weeks ago. Upgrade offered to a Strip View Room if I waited until a bit later in the afternoon, (I was there at noon as I was staying in The Venetian and my online mobile check-in said a room was ready), with bottled water and a late check out. I wanted to go back to the pools so I declined the wait and was given an immediate check-in with a fantastic view of LAS and landing aircraft. Result! I didn’t expect breakfast as it is clearly excluded and anyway, I prefer to walk over to The Wynn for the Buffet, about $45pp.
I was very impressed that all the mobile/on-line stuff worked seamlessly for check-in, checkout and billing. It did take about 5 days to clear CC holds but no “funny” charges appeared and credit balances released correctly.Much the same at The IC SFO Howard St where the free breakfast was not only honoured but the Maitre d’ made a point of seating me at a good table. Pity the pool was closed for renovation, now open again.

Another question, is the breakfast for two or just the Diamond level holder only?

As confirmed above and elsewhere, it is for UP TO TWO GUESTS SHARING A ROOM!

Last year I saw I had been credited with a stay at LAX, somewhere I have stayed in the past but not as credited. Freaked out that my account had been hacked and got on the phone at once to the hotel, an expensive call to Los Angeles! They weren’t very interested and said it was a clerical error, same name, different address, simple mistake and they would change it, which they did after about 12 hours. The problem seemed to be at reception where there was a choice of guests in the system with the same name!!??

I’m flying DUB-LHR-SFO tomorrow, first leg J on BA then Virgin. Price was so good when I booked it, I’m doing it again in October to renew my Virgin Gold .One leg is on EI. Both trips around €1350!

Are you in J / Upper all the way?

    Hi again
Forgot to add that the BA tier points posted promptly for both flights!

    Hi
Yes, J both ways on trip 1 as DUB/LHR was on BA. Trip 2, I chose to go on EI to LHR so no J available, but it is on BA on my return. The EI flight had a better connection time. Everything worked well enough with the first trip except the Virgin App wouldn’t accept I had checked in for the first flight so wouldn’t give me a boarding card on my phone. Everything easily sorted at the desk in Dublin and given a paper boarding card for the SFO flight.
On the first trip I “landed” at LHR and transferred myself bwt T3/5, no checked bags was my choice given all that has been going on lately.
Trip 2 in 30 days. Hope it goes as well as the first.

Well a 15-night stay has posted a week after checkout (frustrating as I’m used to Hilton stays posting overnight, and as I haven’t paid for any other IHG stays since 2018, I forgot that IHG can take a long time) and I am now Diamond 😀

However I have only received the base points (and platinum bonus) but not the points from the 4X promo. Would these post separately or do I need to chase them? Should be 60k or more points…

The points will turn up between 5/9 days in my recent experience. As you note, IHG are a bit on the slow side.

Each of the hotels have their merits, depends what is more important to you. Pool? Bugis Modern? RC. Old colonial? Bugis. Location isn’t terribly important in this part of the City, both are a 20/25 minute walk to MBS or The Fullerton, Orchard Road requires a taxi or the MTR, both cheap.

Why register for the challenge if you are already Diamond? I thought you had to use a different loyalty scheme to register from???

It is nights that count, not points.

Have either of you renewed Ambassador recently, see the other thread about it also renewing Diamond!!!!

@NorthernLass 4K per night wow…I have an upgrade available for Intercontinental Dubai Festival City from classic to club room for 195aed, about £45 per night….so Athens £50 per night using 241, Dubai £45 per night individual nights….is this the average price for club access?

The Club Lounge at The IC Festival City used to be among the best and it remains one of my favourite hotels in Dubai, the pool terrace is very relaxing with views of the creek and downtown which is a cheap taxi ride away. Breakfast was always good too. The lounge had a generous pour of Champers and their G&Ts were acceptable, plus the views. The food offering was a bit hit and miss. Obviously, not stayed there in the last two years so it might all have changed?

Alas, I and my husband SNORE, allegedly, so two beds are preferred. The Fitzroy aren’t great at providing a twin bed room as an upgrade. Or even to book, but better than the IC Park Lane.

Don’t see any “fraud”? The computer does what it does, and it seems to work without question, for now. I did it but will actually re-qualify by stays in any case.

    Hi Aliks
Interested in your thinking. How much was breakfast vs how valuable was a voucher? Is booze THAT expensive?
    Cheers!

Aliks if you are Diamond, breakfast is free to begin with or have I missed something?

Not stayed in The Kimpton but did use the fabulous rooftop bar and had diner and drinks in the bar while staying at The IC.It was ok.
The IC were very accommodating about an upgrade and breakfast over Easter for a modest cash supplement arranged by email in advance even though the hotel was busy. Lounge access was not available to pay for but after Rob’s last review of the new arrangements I wasn’t too bothered as had been to the old lounge on a previous visit. I am Diamond Ambassador, (before free breakfasts).
What about Marseille for a change? or, the IC Amsterdam, just don’t pay for breakfast, go the the cafe/bakery across the street, save a fortune. The pool is nice.

I asked the same question a few months ago and was directed to the Ambassador Ts&Cs which clearly state it to be a benefit. I have relied upon this to remove a €600 second person charge from a stay in the IC Mauritius next Christmas. However, whether or not it is in the IHG terms or not, I can not comment sorry.

    SGJNI

Just used my CC free night for a booking in the IC Danang, a saving of approx $700! also used an Ambassador Cert for the Easter weekend. Chunky savings particularly if there is a free breakfast/lounge access through the Milestone rewards.

Stayed at the IC Paris last weekend on points but I had already emailed and agreed a modest fees for a slight room upgrade to two beds and breakfast.I am Diamond Ambassador and had stayed there before. Was very politely discouraged from paying for lounge access on the ground that the hotel was full (which it did seem to be judging by the whores for breakfast every day).
The rooftop bar in the Kimpton is very definitely worth a walk across the street on a warm evening for the views but sadly, not the prices!
I thought the free breakfast didn’t kick in until June?

Many thanks, I have now located the relevant rule in the Ambassador Ts&Cs. Has anyone use/relied on this before?
Do you book a double room for one guest and then two show up and it’s no problem or should I book for two, with the additional €300 showing in the rates and then ask for it to be removed at checkout?
    Help appreciated.

ChrisC You refer to the terms which state “up to 6 weeks”. My question was looking for a more practical real world response of what that might mean in reality. There is also no help in answer to when are the points counted if earned before the earning threshold increases but not awarded until some time after.

dst87 Many thanks. Any idea how long this might take just I was counting on a stay at the IC Cancun at the end of the month to put me over the 55000 points currently needed to renew Spire/Diamond before the changes happen. Would the X2 points when added be backdated to the dated of the stay or will I missout?

Thanks Rob, I couldn’t find the article.
