DOH sounds like a plan – just looked at the IC Doha Beach and Spa – reviews are good. Any HFP community have stay experience – is lounge access worth the additional cost?

@ Anna, thank you for replying. The cost is working out for LHR-DOH in Business and DXB-LHR in Premium Economy at 122500 Avios + £630 using the 241. Then booking a separate trip from DOH-DXB is 14000 + £118.80 (for 2) in economy.

The BA flight lands in Doha at 00.15 and the QR flight departs for Dubai at 01.30 – is it possible to make this connection on 2 separate bookings if we had hand baggage only (if the QR economy flight Hand Baggage allowance is sufficient)?

I phoned the complaints team yesterday as the initial complaint handler repeatedly failed to communicate with me. Heather said she would reopen the complaint. She emailed me today, saying my complaint was now upheld. ‘In recognition of the poor customer service’ she has offered a payment of £75 – it can be paid in to a bank account or paid in Nectar points. I auto convert Nectar to Avios. Any advice on which one to accept? Thank you

I replied to the complaints team with the screenshot and got the extra 2000 points. Still waiting for the complaints team to acknowledge their initial response was incorrect.

Stayed 4 nights last April at IC Times Square using points, bookd standard room, emailed manager to say it was a birthday trip and got upgraded to King Premium Corner Midtown View on the top floor. Views were amazing. No resort fee charged on points stay.

My offer on the free card was 1500 for £4700 spend which I did but I never got the bonus. Contacted via chat and told ‘the experts’ have no details of that offer. Anyone else have to contact barclaycard to arrange to get the bonus?

I looked out the last bills. I think you need to be off direct debit payments, I got a Rates QuickPay Card which has a barcode for the post office to scan, attached to the bill. It’s £200 per transaction, it says paypoint on each of the £200 receipts. It didn’t take very long but if another customer needed served I let them go ahead between my transactions. Yes, the rates can be paid with AMEX at Co-op shops. I’ve done it for the last few years. It has to be done £100 at a time

Did you try flying from Dublin (via Lhr) to compare the avios and taxes ? I find it worth the trip south.

A few years ago, we stayed with 3 children at Crowne Plaza St Peter’s in the summer. It was a little bit out but the bus stopped right outside the hotel. We had 2 rooms interconnecting , it was perfect for sightseeing in the morning and then relaxing by the pool in the afternoon.

I have had the same experience, currently only a supplementary card holder but have done a few applications in the past to get the sign up bonus and then cancelled.
