Yes, Virgin do allow nomination as well. I’m a nominee on OH account, I added myself as nominee over the phone. I made a booking using OH voucher this week over the phone. So, nominee should be able to book the ticket for you using upgrade voucher.

I think AMEX platinum allows allows 2 guests in the Centurian lounge and it’s better than PP offerings.

Contactless has started now in India, however, with lower limits. Physical fx free credit cards are fine for most of the decent places.
For everything else, cash. UPI I’m not sure is possible without a local bank account.
Uber works fine with fx free credit/debit card.

I would recommend it as well.

I’d forget the lounge and go to the Stay & Play area in T3. It’d be less stress for you worrying about noise or running around in a lounge.

Play area in T3 is next to AMEX Centurion lounge. If you’ve Platinum card you and OH can take turns and visit lounge with one pair of eyes in the play area.

    Hastings.

I couldn’t get Amex to work with Hastings.
Have you managed to use Amex online or over the phone?

@shub Did they give you a prorata refund of the fee using this link?

Yes, but it was before the 29th Feb. However, it should not matter as prorata refund is still working as per HfP.

I used this link recently to downgrade from the BAPP to the free version without chat/calling…

It’s 24 hours prior to departure so you’d need to cancel before 9.30 on Saturday

Thanks, was confused between both the policies.

Hi, I have made a booking from Lon to Amsterdam for early Feb with BA but notice the offer on Trip that is going live tomorrow – buy one get one free on BA flights to Amsterdam for trips feb-march. I paid £18 in taxes for these flights. If I were to cancel these avios flights to rebook with Trip would my cancellation fees be £18, or, because of this IT glitch, £1? Thanks very much for the help.

You can go to the cancellation screen and check the cancellation charge BA is quoting without cancelling the booking.

When you come to make the booking (or dummy booking), the system will ask you if you want a stopover. Select this. Make sure you leave several hours or even an overnight stop between the 2 outbound legs, in case of any delays. You can then pick all your sectors individually, and you can select Club Europe for no extra charge on your domestic connection. This gives you lounge access at the regional airport and better seating.

And potential lounge access at LHR as well before LHR-TYO sector

@WoodyYork : Assuming you earned the existing voucher last year, You could check in the AMEX app how far you’re from the next voucher. That would give you an idea if you can get the next voucher now or not.
If the counter has started towards your next voucher, and depending how far you’re from the voucher, you can trigger the new voucher by making a refundable booking on Hotel . com
Once the voucher has landed in your account, you could cancel the booking. The counter would go back but voucher will stay in your BAEC account which you can use immediately.

    Thank you!
Iberia appear to have availability however I cannot combine my Iberia and BA avios (account has been open over 90 days). Does anyone have any quick tips on how to get the Iberia account activated (getting the account above 0 avios) ?

If you’ve Amex MR points, you can transfer 1000 MR points to Iberia. It does take 2-3 days however.

Have they fixed the issue with linking your MR account to an IB account with 9 digits?

Not sure, I’ve a 8 digit account number which I added successfully last month

@yonasl I have a short haul BA booking, it still gives me £1 cancellation option. However, I recently cancelled a booking on short notice (around a week before flight date) and I got the form to submit for cancellation, with no mention of cancellation charges. I guess can’t rely on £1 cancellation now.

    Hi,
Any experience cancelling short haul Iberia or Iberia express flights booked on BAEC?
Wondering if they’re also charged 50p cancellation charges or the usual?
It would be great if anyone with an existing booking can check.
    Thanks

If you book an IB (or any other airline) using the BA website you pay £35 to cancel (or less if the cash element was lower).

I have a couple of Iberia flights and if I try to cancel I see the system shows they will charge me that.

Be careful: if you book on Iberia’s website an avios flight with another airline (BA, Latham, whatever) they won’t let you cancel. IB avios flights booked on the Iberia website can be cancelled for €25.

    Great, many thanks. Clarifies everything.

I have a previously saved referral link from an account that referrals are off. Has anyone tested this lately and know if the referrer will still get points?

    Thanks

Yes, still worked for me couple of weeks back.

@BBbetter I tried to reply earlier but went into moderation, might pop up later.

Latest update is that charges are posted and processed on both the cards. On my card cash back is received as well. On OH card, cash back not received yet but we got the abroad benefit utilised email so would get soon I think.

Also, I gave the card details directly to restaurant reception and paid over phone, not handed card details to anyone else.

The charges haven’t yet posted in the account and I’ve not received the credits yet. However, I received “you’ve redeemed a benefit” email on one of account.

You mean charges have posted, but not settled yet. If the payment wasn’t posted, Amex wouldn’t be sending the email for offer usage.

I don’t see a reason why it shouldn’t work for a future booking paid over the phone now.

The issue with that is the massive risk of sharing the card details with a stranger.

I don’t see the charges yet online, processed or pending. However, I did received Apple wallet notification of the charges. Will see if the charges appear in next few days.

Don’t have to share card details with any strangers, I paid over the phone directly to the restaurant reception.

Datapoint: I couldn’t use the abroad dining credit for this year yet. I had a close friend visiting Madrid, so thought of trying to pay his dinner.

I called Corral La Morería, booked dinner plus show option for 2 people. I had credits from 2 cards to use so I asked the lovely operator on the other end to split the booking and make 2 separate booking. There were few options to pay, I chose to pay over the phone. Total for 2 people came to around 230 euros. There’s option to pay online, but that included only the show price, on phone I could pay for dinner as well as the show.

The charges haven’t yet posted in the account and I’ve not received the credits yet. However, I received “you’ve redeemed a benefit” email on one of account. Hopefully will receive the credits on both, fingers crossed, else a very expensive gift for the friend.
I don’t see a reason why it shouldn’t work for a future booking paid over the phone now.
YMMV, all the best and merry Christmas.

@Lonli-Lokli is right, the t&c are different now for Platinum card when going direct vs via referral link. However, OH applied via my referral on 1st December and currently hold BAPP. The tracker for welcome bonus is still visible so hopefully should still be eligible for welcome bonus.

Amex Centurion lounge at Delhi airport is on the Domestic side. Priority pass does give access to Encalm lounge.

Used it recently when going out, CE domestic connection with long haul in economy. Was offered lounge access as well at LHR, when asked nicely.

Are you trying to book it in the app? You need to use the website to make the vouchers work properly, they are book by, not stay by.

Yes, that was the issue, was trying using the app, Works fine using website. @NorthernLass, Many thanks.
