Had another look, Random points received is the 30% of points I transferred during the promotion.

    Bingo!
Yes, I also transferred a small amount from Amex to Hilton during the bonus.
But I thought the Amex transfer Bonus was already included in the initial transfer?

Yes, I think it was already included. We probably got 30% bonus twice. Not complaining 🙂

Lovely stuff. Just applied for an upgrade to Premier through the Barclays app and was upgraded immediately.

The welcome document confirms that the means testing and monthly fee is waived for the first 12 months.

Thanks for all of your help!

Sorry to re-ask the same question but it got lost amongst a discussion on the benefits of premier. For those who upgraded… prior to the upgrade, was your initial application via the premier product (and redirected due to the entry of a sub-£75k salary, or a direct application for the standard account? (Also, presume through the app?).

Yes, Applied for Premier, App said only regular account can be opened due to salary threshold. Continued with Regular account. Once opened, Upgraded to Premier.

I put this on the article page, but its also relevant here.

My wife, who has an existing BC Avios Plus card and Barclays current account, but did not meet the £75k income/£100k savings requirement, was able to upgrade to Premier banking in the app by truthfully confirming her current income (and switch on Avios Rewards). She received confirmation that she will get the 100k avios once she holds it for 4 months, and she also received confirmation that they do not check her eligibility for free Premier banking until she has held it for at least 12 months, at which point they would charge £20pm if not eligible, but would not charge in the meantime. Not sure how they would treat new customers to Barclays looking to upgrade to Premier, but she was an existing customer.

Very interesting. I’ll also be applying as a new Barclays Banking customer – have already been accepted for the Barclaycard Avios Plus credit card. May I confirm how long after opening a Barclays Bank Account you upgraded?

Same day, after couple of hours may be

Hi Luca, did they ask to see your World Elite Mastercard when you picked up the car?

No, but was a prepaid tariff (which was great as it was an EU rental) and to confirm the discount a World Elite card had to be used. When I got the invoice at the end of the rental, confirming no extra charges, my card last 4 digits and that it was a MasterCard were on it.

Once the account is updated to reflect the Presidents Club, the price it shows when doing a search while logged in directly in Avis is same as the price quoted by Avis World Elite offer page (at least that was the case with my last EU booking). And in your Avis account you can make the payment using any card including Amex.

You can send email to one of these 2 email addresses database.northern@bsc.avis-europe.com or database.northern@abg.com with your account details, and they would update your account.

Had the Paid card, Earned the voucher in June. Downgraded after that and noticed today another voucher in the BAEC account issued in September, must have spent 20k by now on it. So, possibility to earn 2 vouchers in same year. Still not sure if I would be able to use either.

I never use debit cards and I use Revolut abroad (unless I can use my Italian Amex) as it gets Euros from my euro account, so no exchange fees paid ever. 🙂

If you leave money as GBP in your Revolut and withdraw Euros at an ATM in Europe, would there by any charges by Revolut?

Thinking it might be best to use Revolut for cash withdrawal and Curve for spending abroad.

Not charged any fee in July

Great e-Upgrade options at the IC Da Nang, $16 USD for a club room with full club intercontinental benefits 🙂

The Sun Peninsula Club lounge here is amazing, including IC’s own lounge at the DAD domestic terminal.

How odd, I’m also looking at the same property, However the cheapest option I’m getting is 1 Bedroom Spa Lagoon Villa for 500 USD a night.

Just been reading the topics and posts in this IHG Forum. Noticed there were a few comments regarding E-Upgrade offers for redemption bookings. How do you see these offers? I’ve looked on the app + website at my bookings and can’t see anything.

I’ve managed to make it work twice in a row now for an IC booking on a desktop, The steps I followed were:
    1) Login to IHG and click on manage reservation.
    2) Refresh the page.
    3) Click Logout on the top of the page, this still keeps you on the booking page.
    4) Refresh the page again.
The Upgrade offer should be under the room details.
I looked at the offers yesterday and today, both times the offers were different but nothing extraordinary.

I triggered the cashback on my ba amex. (Spend 100 get 20 back) I then returned the item and they rescinded the statement credit. Anyone have any idea if I can use it again?

Yes, should be fine. Next eligible purchase will trigger the offer again.

Has anyone applied for the card within 6 months of having another Barclaycard credit card? I had the Barclaycard Platinum travel credit card which I closed in Feb end. If I just answer “Do you have a Barclaycard, or have you had one in the last six months?” as No, any chances the application might still go through?
    Thanks

Sorry to highjack the thread, but have a question regarding the downgrade. I’ve an offer saved on my BAPP card which I would be using after 2 months, Does the saved offers remain on card even after downgrading or is it better to postpone the downgrade for 2 months?

There are lot of nice places around Bengaluru and Mysore area like hill stations, tea estates, water falls and beaches as well are not far off.

+1. Lots of little things to do and see at Mysore and Bangalore. Good weather but very busy and you can get stuck in traffic for hours.
Beaches are far but doable. Would rather go to Goa for beach.

I would also recommend Andaman & Nicobar islands for beaches. Less crowded than Goa, it’s amazing. Its a short flight away from Chennai.

Have been to Mysore palace once during Dussehra festival (which is the best time to visit really if going to see the lighting but very busy). It was really nice but won’t say it was out of this world.
BA to Bengaluru is quite good specially with new club suite.

You must use it as a current account. I have a few direct debits set up and make a few debit card transactions every few weeks.

Also don’t get too greedy. I only move in around £2,500 a month in one transaction and then use it slowly thoughout the month.

All that seems to keep the wolf from the door!

I tried to top up a small amount using Bendy with Beardy behind it but was charged Cash advance fee, which card is still accepted by Revolut ?

Called Brighton for Amex Plat retention bonus. CS advised only had card for 6 months, so could only offer downgrade to gold. Is this usual? Is it matter of trying overseas call centre/chat? Or wait for a few more months?

BAPP is still our main card and been for years. Could justify holding Amex Plat for full year if offered bonus, but otherwise will just move MR and call back to cancel.

I only had the card for 4 months or so and was offered 35k, you could try different time or chat after few days I think.

Accepted 35k to stay as well today via Chat

It’s £5.30 for 30min in the short stay car park. If you time it right that should be enough. It’s £8.xx for 1hr if you run over. I’ve done a couple of family pickups in the last few weeks and no problem getting in and out in 20min.

Assuming a UK passport + bags it’ll take minimum 20min from landing time to get through.

There is a cafe Nero in the terminal right by the foot bridge to the short stay car park so if they beat you could always wait for you there …

Thanks, ended up doing as you said. Timing was perfect and it took 30 mins.

Thanks both, will keep an eye out.

I have done it and it was pretty straightforward.
