The system didnt sort anything and I got an email saying that I needed to ring to discuss my options. I did that yesterday.

My original trip was a Friday to Friday as there wasn’t any 241 availability on the Saturday. I’m now flying down on the Friday night and heading to Nassau on the Saturday. Very happy with that

Now just need to book a hotel for the Friday.. Oh and my Bahamas accomodation 😁

I used https://esimthailand.com/ recently, the price was great and it worked excellently in several different parts of Thailand. I activated it the day before travel and it all worked as expected.

I second this. I used it in November and it worked perfectly in Bangkok and Phuket.

Can I ask what you ended up doing.? I’ off to Nassau in a few months and, as BA have cancelled the morning flight from MAN, I am staying over at Heathrow the night before. Being an amputee my mobility is very hit and miss so am trying to work out the best option.

    Cheers

Cheers,. Such a bizarre (non) feature. good call re the phone. I’ll do that although I did spot they have the first season of Chucky, which I’ve been meaning to watch for ages 🙂

NAS leaves from T3, no way will you make it unless it’s delayed or they hold it for you. I am doing that route twice next year and flying down to LHR the day before on both trips.
So many delays/cancellations atm, anything same day is risky.

Thanks, I hadn’t spotted it is from T3. I will try to switch for the overnight in that case. Occupational won’t ring at the moment though. !!!

As above, wait as the schedules are changing a lot. If the new flight meets MCT, they won’t pay for a hotel the night before, but they should allow you to move the flight. It may be worth booking a cancellable hotel now as prices will likely increase.

Hadn’t thought of that. Will look at that now. Thanks

Brilliant, thanks. I’ll sit tight for now. My wife will be reassured 🙂

I just checked and on that day they have flights from MAN-LHR at 8am and 8.50am. No way is that happening

    Quick question for clarification.

I’ve booked a trip to Bangkok & Phuket. My wife didn’t like the hotels on offer in Bangkok so we booked that separately. We have, however, booked 9 nights hotel in Phuket.

Reading the T&Cs I thought this would qualify for the double points but a lot of posts on here say it doesn’t.

    Can someone confirm?

    Thanks

It should based on the T&Cs now it should. They had previously said had to be the whole trip in an older version of this deal.

Just to confirm that I did indeed get my Double Points for this trip. It took about 10 days to post the extra points. The first leg of the journey moved us in to Silver and the posting of the double points bumped us into Gold.
    Happy with that

The JFK stuff is good to pass a few hours, and Deep Ellum was was lively enough to spend an evening but with the massive problem of aggressive homeless people we could not wait to get out of there.

We stayed at the the Kimpton Pittman in Deep Ellum, which was great. Deep Ellum has some great restaurants and bars and we really enjoyed the 3 nights we were there but I would find to very hard to recommend to anyone exactly because of what you said. It is is very very sketchy and you really need to keep your wits about you at all times.

We’ve got a few days in Houston next spring and were wondering what to do – NASA was top of my list to look into – any advice on that (especially for 5yo) and where to stay?

I’d check their site for full info as the exhibitions change around – https://spacecenter.org/

We don’t have children so can’t really help but it did look like there was plenty for them to see and do.

We booked tickets in advance and some of the more private tours were fully booked when we got to it.

There are loads of hotels nearby but we stayed in Galveston, which was about an hours drive away.

Austin has an American Airlines Admirals Club lounge. We used it in April. Not massive but decent for a couple of hours before a flight if you can get access. Pretty sure there were at least a couple of other lounges

We had a road trip for three weeks and had some good times, although not as good as on some other road trips. Highlights for us were

    JFK Walking tour in Dallas
    Nasa in Houston
Staying a night in Gruene and seeing a gig in Gruene Hall – https://gruenetexas.com/
Staying a night at The Cell Block in Clifton. It’s bit out of the way but a really unusual place to spend a night. It has a really great little cafe just around the corner – https://www.stayatthecellblock.com/

Thanks, @TravelStrong – it looked from the pictures as though the Resorts World hotels share the pool complex, is this not the case? Not bothered about casinos, I would be the world’s worst gambler! Plan is a couple of shows (Rat Pack/Elvis-era stuff), some good food, a spa day and visit the Mob Museum and the shark aquarium. And a bit of a wander and a gawp! We were last there in 1996 and I think it’s changed a lot …

You should check out my friend’s band if you can. They play regularly at The Underground at the Mob Museum

I avoided the airport crazyness by doing Lyft in and out and also avoided the $55/day parking at the hotel.

We did that in Austin but had to drop the car at the Airport. We got a hire rate from Expedia that was over half the price of the next cheapest deal but we couldn’t get it to without dropping at the airport.

Unfortunately our drive there was delayed for a couple of reasons which meant we arrived there about 5.30 on a Friday afternoon. Not exactly the best time to try and get to such a busy airport. Still, we managed it with only two near death experiences, which wasn’t too bad 🙂

We are just back from a 2 week Texas road trip. Budget offered us all tolls for $11.99 a day. I said no, the guy did say that Texas had a lot of toll roads but didn’t try the hard sell.

They do indeed have a lot of toll roads but we navigated away from them all and didn’t pay a penny. Generally the routes we took were rarely much longer than the toll roads and the driving was much nicer and more interesting than ploughing down busy interstates the whole time.

If you are using Google Maps to navigate just remember to select Avoid Toll Roads in the settings and you’ll be fine.

As a slight aside, the roads around Austin and their airport are a bloody nightmare.

There’s a company called medicspot advertising that they do it online. Isn’t there something in the NHS app that shows it though?

Sorry, I meant to thank you for the Medicspot suggestion. Looks like just what is needed. Cheers

Sorry for spamming….3 weeks you’d be very unlucky to be showing on an LFT. Do a Qured video one, they pay very little attention so you can do a very light tickle

Cheers. If it were me that’s what I’d do but my wife just wants to cover all bases and will get a letter as well. This is the third time we’ve attempted this trip so she really doesn’t want to miss out again

We’re having our tests at Lloyds on Monday 😕 – I know more Covid + positive people in the last couple of months than at any other time during the pandemic!

Cheers, As I mentioned in the last pot, CDC say you need to letter as well as the App (although UK Gov says otherwise) and googling gets lots of different stories.

Same here with positive tests stories, I know of 6 other people who have it at the moment.

I had it back in October but have had 4 jabs so hoping I don’t pick it up again at this point.

The PDF NHS travel pass shows it but I’m not sure if you need a PCR to get it to show

Thanks but CDC guidance states that you must also have a signed letter from a medical professional. From what I’ve read it’s hit and miss as to whether that is checked but we don’t want to risk it.

I had an email about a booking yesterday. The Avios and voucher posted back to my account today.

Still waiting on one that was booked by my wife so I assume they are still working through the backlog.
