Made it back from Spain via TGV + Eurostar this morning.. submitted my claim to BA.. let’s see what happens! Wonder how long it’ll take to clear the backlog? Thought I’d try and get in early anyhow!

I will be back in UK tomorrow as there is limited availability from Dalaman to London till Sept 6th.Trying to claim via HSBC premier as they have given 7500 Limit and have registered the claim on Aug 29th.

Let us know how you get on..that’s my plan B when BA refuse to pay out!

Flight cancelled from San Sebastian to LCY this afternoon. Only Iberia ground staff who knew nothing of BA policies.. their only advice to get a refund or try to rebook something yourself then claim back from BA. MMB provides no options to rebook – just phone us.. and phoning just produces a message to call another time and hangs up.

Given no other available flights in the vicinity we took the train to Bayonne and will take TGV then Eurostar back. My question is.. shall I pursue BA for any of this, or go straight to HSBC Premier travel insurance with a claim?

BA should pay it as rerouting expenses. Try them first then if they decline put in a claim with their denial. Do not cancel or refund the BA ticket just leave it

OK – good! I’ll try that.

Don’t worry because at the moment BA haven’t offered me a sausage.. no opportunity to rebook and no refund in MMB either. Not entirely sure why not..

Are you using uk.hotels.com or hotels.com?
It’s showing everything for me on the UK site.

Also have you created/merged accounts into OneKey account when asked to do so earlier this year?

I confirm this is via uk.hotels.com. I don’t recall doing anything earlier this year to merge my accounts. I wonder if I had an old US Expedia account for some reason which has merged badly with my UK Hotels.com and all gone a big pear-shaped.. struggling to find a human to talk to about it!

Mine also cut over to “One Key”. My Gold status has gone (now blue) and none of the rewards I’ve earned have cut across (I have $0 One Key cash). I can no longer access my hotels.com account and the rewards I’ve collected..

Ha..funny I was thinking of asking a similar question.. i.e. which are the best value first class flights (to use up some extraneous evouchers..!)?

Got mine today too, including the 25k switching bonus (this is now 4 months post switch) but not the 100k Avios I’m expecting at some point….

Same.. I just got 25k hit my account today but not the 100k. Which is strange because I didn’t actually do the switch.

I’m a big fan. Always double dip on train tickets via LNER with Airtime Rewards. Buy a £500 voucher to maximise the return.

Can we use the voucher for tickets on other train companies? Does it get deducted just like Amazon credit?

Yep – you can book any credit via LNER, and yes, you just use the credit like an Amazin voucher credit. Once you’ve added the voucher to your account it is especially easy from the app. I stock up on vouchers each time I have the opportunity to double dip and it generally sees me through until the next promotion 🙂

5% LNER on Airtime Rewards for me at the moment..

Apparently they do accept them, if you email it in after booking. Ask them to apply it to the holiday booking. Know @Anna has done this successfully, and advises on it.

Apparently not any more. I’ve also done this (last year) but unless I’m mistaken, I’ve have read a few people on here recently saying when they asked to do this the voucher was refunded.

Indeed. I tried to use multiple vouchers with a BAH booking. Got an e-mail back saying my vouchers would be cancelled and they would return the money. I tried calling but got the same answer. Even though call centre staff were convinced I’d get the full voucher cash value returned back to my credit card (they’d keep the avios) that doesn’t seem to be the case.

So fae they have returned 20% of what I paid in cash to my card..and that’s less than 5% of the overall voucher value. I’ve had a bunch of Avios redeposited.

Indeed. They refused to accept mine against BAH booking and are meant to be returning the value. Speaking with BAH twice they assure me the total value will be returned to my card and they would keep the avios, yet I see thousands of Avios redesposited in my account and – at this stage – less than 20% of the cash I laid out, let alone the Avios value converted to cash. BAH keep telling me to be patient with the refund. Clearly they don’t intend to return the £ value but nobody in the call centre seems to understand that and can’t explain why I only have a small partial refund. Ironic that they now just announced they will accept Avios as part payment for BAH bookings!

Sad news.. after trying to use my vouchers on a BAH booking and they told me on the phone that I would receive cash back to my card (BA would keep the Avios) I just received a refund into my Avios account that looks to be Avios coming back from the 2p offer.

Just received a trickle of Avios back from my the vouchers that BA are meant to be refunding.. no sign of any cash yet, and only about 1/3rd of the Avios that went into the vouchers in the first place…..

    t0m 87 posts

When I spoke with BAH they were adamant that the full cash value would be refunded to my card – that they would keep the avios I used to part pay. I don’t believe them based on the reports here, but that’s what they told me very clearly. I checked my understanding 3 times.

    I’m now waiting..

in reply to: Vouchers expiring September 2023

The point I was making is that BA no longer let you use the vouchers with a BA Holidays booking. So if you try and redeem against one they simply tell you that they will refund the voucher in cash instead. Worst case, you lose your deposit but get the rest of the voucher value back?

Knowing that is an option, I would sit tight with the voucher and wait if they just refund it first. If they don’t, this could be your backup option.

Just try and use them against a BA Holidays booking and they will refund the cash back to your card.

I called BA Holidays yesterday because I actually want my vouchers applied to a BA Holidays booking. I have some Avios wrapped up in my booking that I used to get 2p per Avios – and I don’t want the cash returned. The agent told me categorically that they would keep the Avios and return the full cash value of the voucher to my card.

    Let’s see…

Same.. but the Barclaycard Avios credit card is a Mastercard, not a Visa.. so not sure why they keep telling me to sign up?!

I might email them again about this to see if this policy has indeed changed… I usually travel Friday evenings/Sunday evenings which are very expensive so this would really save a lot of money with the half-price passes.

My understanding is that this has indeed changed and you can have one outbound and one inbound journeys.. but be interested to hear if they say otherwise!
