Think about it people…if you make a fronted transaction to a credit card and then move that same fronted transaction to another credit card, you are creating another fronted transaction. The fact that you went back in time is irrelevant. It’s too late now, but if you had GBIT to a debit card then you wouldn’t have been charged.

I can say for sure this is not how it use to work. In Aug-23 I maxed fronted to £10K (on CREDIT cards), then GBIT £4.5K to another CREDIT card (as per your understanding this should be considered as ‘new’ fronted and hence would have been charged 1.5% fee as total fronted would be £14.5K during the same month), BUT no fee was charged.

It’s not a new fronted transaction if you spent £4.5k plus another £5.5k on credit cards but then decided to GBIT the £4.5k from one credit card to another. Only £10k was spent.

Or are you saying you spent £10k on credit cards plus £4.5k on a debit card then moved that £4.5k to a credit card? Because that would be a new fronted transaction and should have added a fee.

Has to be a different property or a night inbetween to stop it being merged into one stay.

in reply to: New 3k fronted – 30 rolling days or calender month.
    TGLoyalty 348 posts

There’s already a long thread of moans about this. The terms say 30 rolling days so that will prevail over anything in the app. Nobody knows whether Fronted transactions prior to today are ignored and the 30 days start today with a fresh £3k allowance. However, since you can unwind any transaction via GBIT it shouldn’t be an issue.

Reset today for a few people in the main thread inc me.

Refreshed £3k limit still working today

So reluctant to try another £3k now – unless others are also getting this but successfully managing another £3k

atleast three people above on this page has confirmed that the Fronted has been reset!

A £3k limit for what? FX?

    Fronted for metal

FX is fair use up to £100k per annum.

No where tbh it’s either safe or not, interesting to visit or not. I leave my politics at home and enjoy visiting other cultures…

Genuinely shocked at this attitude. No matter how abhorrent the human rights abuses, the torture, rape, murder of segments of a population, whether on grounds of race, gender or political views, you’d quite happily implicitly support the regime because you enjoy the culture?

How far back do we go? Whose human rights history is whiter than white?

I’d strike USA, Israel, Netherlands, France and Spain off the list

Id even have to leave Britain …

I actually find it shocking how oblivious you are to the abhorrent human rights breaches most of the world have either carried out or turned a blind eye to

Also interesting you ignored the second part of my post … dont want to know about those things?

Think next time you visit McDonald’s or Starbucks what’s actually happened to the profits they make and what human rights infringements they’ve funded.

PP T5 has been in horrible condition for 3 years – I suspect it had a very low budget and now construction costs have soared refurbishing it so soon after it was first installed is a tough decision

pay peanuts get monkeys or buy cheap buy twice come to mind

re T5B I normally just head straight there if on a widebody as strong chance that’s where you will leave from or C and if not the walk back isnt really an issue

Oh I see Joburg is the start/end point of the trip.

I wonder if joburg-ldn-joburg has lower APDs than ldn-joburg-ldn.

Or for that matter, are APDs lower if you start and end point are outside of UK and you are flying in and out of uk….particularly for premium class APDs.

UK APD only applies to flights departing the UK.

There is no reduced rate on a simple point to point trip like this just because your trip starts outside of the Uk.

Only if the transfer is under 24hrs

BOB on Ba is a joke the staff are either incompetent or just completely dislike it so purposefully go slow in order to keep sales down.

That’s the whole point IT IS relevant now.

Simply changing the T&Cs and not reminding people when their anniversary isn’t good for me and I suspect many others.

I could phone and ask for each card individually…maybe I will waste their time when I have nothing better to do.

Re open ended contract what makes credit cards different to any other auto renewing subscription where you sign up to renew annually until you tell then you no longer want the service like Amazon prime (where it will tell me the exact date I need to make my choice if I look in the right place)

in reply to: Dining credit and card fee reimbursement?
    TGLoyalty 348 posts

There’s no confusion JDB I just have other things to note in my life than the date I took out a card 7 years ago … it also didn’t make any difference to my life as I got pro rata refunds …

Most other subscriptions tell you the exact date they renew etc why should credit card fees be any different?

If you’ve had a platinum for a while surely it’s a charge card which is unaffected by the change

Also if you weren’t planning on cancelling why would you cancel because of a change that doesn’t affect you. Or do you mean you weren’t going to cancel until after oct 2?

Personally I don’t agree with the change because they don’t give you a fair warning of when the charge will post / anniversary date. IF that changes then I’m good.

You understand you’re paying more Avios for that £98 saving … 17800 worth £178

You will have an option to pay the £100 + 36,700 (for 2)

The option appears when you click through to actually purchase not on the flight selection page

Also the £35 and £50 APD are subsidised taxes and fees as your contribution towards the actual costs.

Believe me in a tax investigation they do ask who card holders are for a card used extensively to pay invoices and expenses.

Will they care you are using a personal card? No

Will they care you’re using a business card but not declaring any of the costs/income? depends if it’s worthy of caring about.

in reply to: American Express Business Platinum and HMRC
    TGLoyalty 348 posts

Remember points and personal cashback are outside the scope of tax. However, business cards AREN’T you must declare cashback etc as income which is therefore taxable. So you business Amex offers are worth less than if they were the same offer on a personal credit card.

Obviously if you run a loss making business this makes much less difference unless you intend to make a future profit (hopefully you do)

FYI post the FOS offers I complained to creation a couple months ago about my card being closed (August anniversary) when due a free night voucher for £10k spend, 30k points and a pro rata refund.

The creation investigator agreed they could have been clearer and found in my favour so I’ve now received all I was due.

Tbh can’t help but feel creation we’re always wrong snd could have saved themselves a hell of a lot of trouble and headache by awarding what people were due months/years ago. Expensive lesson for the MD Mr Hunt.

Not even sure why I saved them as they are some weak af offers

    TGLoyalty 348 posts

So for example the Spanish link says you need to request a QR code from the experiences app, the U.K. app I have doesn’t show fast track security as a benefit?

which leads me to think these might not be universal global offers in all cases?
