Noticed this on our flight from LHR to HND next March. Originally it was the 1-2-1 seat arrangement in CW. Now when I look it shows the 2-3-2 arrangement, and it says the aircraft type as ‘788’. Hopefully it changes back to Club Suite.

Me and my fiancée both called the USA BA call centre this morning at 00:40am to book our inbound HND to LHR in CW. Went through the options and we were waiting for an agent to pick up. After after 6/7mins I decided to HUACA whilst my partner stayed on her line. At 00:55 the call ended with the usual ‘call centre closed message’.

We decided to try online as well as calling the call centre in Japan which opens at 1am UK time. Online the CW seats had been taken for the later flight but available for the early morning flight. Unfortunately I didn’t have enough avios to book 2 CW online (and later get a 50% reduction). Booked Premium Economy instead online as we did not have that much flexibility in terms of return dates.

Got through to the Japan agent after 5 mins, and we thought let me explain the situation and see if they can cancel my Premium Eco tickets (and assuming avios gets returned to account right away) , and rebook us on the CW inbound using the 241 voucher we used on outbound. Unfortunately the agent said they are having IT issues with their systems and to try calling again in a few hours.

We decided to call it a night, and settled on our PE inbound seats. Just need to get in touch with BA now to get 50% of my avios back!

understood, thank you. We booked our outbound via call centre and plan to book the inbound via the call centre too.

Just wanted to confirm something here with regards to booking the inbound flight. We used our 241 on the outbound flight. Planning to ring tonight for the inbound. Are we asking to book the inbound flight using the 241 voucher from our outbound flight? (Thus a 50% reduction in avios points).

We are not asking for the PNRs to be linked right? I wasn’t sure if this was when you booked online vs call centre

    Thanks in advance 🙂

Rather then starting a new thread, thought I would ask this here. We managed to book our outbound to HND using our 241 companion voucher. I am looking to book the inbound flight HND to LHR in the coming days for t355 april 2025. Preferably the later flight (13:05). There seems to be some discrepancies on the reward flights when I search for HND->LHR compared to the general public ba.com website.

For example, on the reward flight finder: the following days have the following flights

    Tues 1st April 08:50, 13:05
    Weds 2nd April 08:50, 13:05
    Thurs 3rd April 08:50, 13:05
    Fri 4th April 08:50
    Sat 5th APril 13:05
    Sun 6th April 08:50, 13:05
    Mon 7th April 08:50
    Tues 8th April 08:50

However for these same days, on ba.com I Can see:

    Tues 1st April 08:50, 13:05
    Weds 2nd April 08:50, 13:05
    Thurs 3rd April 08:50, 13:05
    Fri 4th April 08:50 13:05
    Sat 5th APril 13:05 08:50
    Sun 6th April 08:50, 13:05
    Mon 7th April 08:50 13:05
    Tues 8th April 08:50 13:05

Anyone know why this discrepancy? Are there always 2 flights from HND to LHR daily?

    Any info is appreciated, thankyou!

Can anyone manage to search for reward flights (any class) from HND to LHR for the T355 dates? (April 7/8th 2025?) It keeps erroring for me, tried on multiple devices. I can search for other dates or other city combinations, just not this one.

    totestornot123 50 posts

I keep getting ‘There was a problem with your request, please try again later.’ when searching for Reward flights, on my mobile and computer. Same for anyone else? Its been like this yesterday too.

    totestornot123 50 posts

Since the T355 is now into the ‘Peak’ area of next April, anyone know if the extra 10k avios when booking during peak dates is for the entire booking or per person?

I can’t seem to dummy book to try for 2 people as I lack enough Avios. I am looking at HND to LHR if that helps,

    Thanks

For standard RFS there’s no difference in the cash element. Make sure you pick the same ratio of cash & avios on each leg.

Get your wife to set you up as an authorised person on her account – it saves time and means you don’t both have to stay up till 1 am!

Off topic but how is that done? I just need to call up BAEC? My partner has a supplementary BAPP card, I am the main cardholder. When it came to booking our outbound flights to HND, we both rang at 00:45. However the agent she had said she was not authorised to make a booking and to get me on the phone. I was also speaking to an agent (which resulted in success) so couldn’t speak to the agent she was on the call with.

    totestornot123 50 posts

@totestornot123 – Great result – don’t forget you need to use the same ratio of avios and cash on the inbound (doesn’t matter which cabin).

    @highlander61
, you could have found all that out here! It’s SOP for this kind of booking, loads of accounts here of people doing exactly that.

What people don’t realise at first is just how fast these seats can go so being on the phone or online at the right time is crucial.

Thanks NorthernLass. Is that ratio for myself booking online and then contacting BA later to get 50% avios refunded or even if we book the return via BA phonelines? Not sure if the agent over the phone can apply any ratio of avios + taxes and still ‘link’ it to our outbound 241 voucher resulting in 50% less avios?

Managed to snag our CW seats LHR to HND last night using our 2v1 BAPP voucher! Thanks to all the helpful people here for all the advice. It definitely is luck of the draw in all honesty. This was our second attempt.

Called the USA number at 00:40, got through in 5mins (thankfully to an agent in the UK) who was extremely friendly and chatty, and me and the missus were just talking to him about anything in general. He was happy to stay on the line with us until 1am, gave us some tips about BA hotels in Japan. Also told us, BA are cracking down on customers ringing up too early and keeping the agent ‘occupied’ until seats are released. Also said that technically, the USA BA number is only for USA customers, and so it is up to the agents discretion whether they will they will proceed with the call or tell them to call the UK office (or book online, which technically one can do). Agent also said, as there are multiple agents all online at that time when seats are released, all trying to snag the CW seats, it is very difficult to be successful as there are only 4 CW seats. (WIth regards to cherry blossom season)

Paid a £15 fee pp on our booking, and we went with the 100k + 550£ option using our voucher (in hindsight maybe we should have used less avios). Now for the return flight to book in a few weeks time. Agent did tell us it was peak dates for a lot of April 2025 and it would cost is 10k more avios (i think in total, not per person). Debating between CW and PE on the return, tbc/

    No luck unfortunately 🙁

I rang the USA Call Centre at 00:48am, went through the options (2,1,3 – last option being something about ‘if you wish to book with a companion voucher press 3’). Was waiting to connect to an agent for 6 minutes, and then the automated messaged appeared to say we are closed. Tried calling back 2 more times but lines were closed.

I was ready to book online on my phone using the BA app anyway. My heart was racing, this was crazy. As soon as it hit 1am, I whizzed through the selections and clicked submit, all in about 30 seconds, and I got the ‘Sorry we have been unable to complete your transaction at this time’. I tried to then book the business class on the earlier flight (Tuesday has 2 outbound flights from LHR to HND) but same issue. By this time it was about 1.02/1.03am, and even the Premium economy seats were taken on both flights.

I will try again Saturday night. What ‘cost’ me a few seconds was, even though ba.com is on my AMEX safe list, once I submitted the payment, I got this screen – https://ibb.co/r7BQLRR

Didn’t ask for any code etc but I just had to click the button. Fingers crossed for my next attempt. Think I will try calling at around 00:40.

Edit, there is a similar post in the massive 241 thread about a similar experience:

I called the US call centre number via Skype (+1 800 452 1201) last night from the UK at 23:45 GMT to book reward flights T-355 – went through all the menus only to be told they were closed at around 23:55 and the call hung up?

    totestornot123 50 posts

Thanks guys, will let you know how I got on. Interestingly, I called the USA BAEC number earlier, just to make sure my Skype was working, and the agent I was speaking to was based in India! So I guess even ringing the USA number doesn’t ensure you will get an agent from USA.

    totestornot123 50 posts

It’ll be 1900 in US east coast at midnight UK time this coming Saturday, so you should ring then. They’ll be closing up shop at 0100 UK

I don’t think that will work because the seats are not released until 1am UK time now..

    totestornot123 50 posts

    Hi,

Just wondering if someone could provide some confirmation on if we should still be using the USA BA Executive Number (1 800 452 1201) to call from the UK to book flights T355 at 1am?

It looks like the USA office closes at 8pm EST which is 1am UK time currently. Japan’s Executive Number, their office does not open until 1am UK Time.

I am hoping to book LHR to HND (CW, using my BAPP 241) outbound at T-355. My original plan was just to try book is online myself, but seeing as I will be awake at those hours, I am now thinking it is probably best to ring BA as well as trying myself. If I ring the USA office at around 12:45am, that should be okay? Seems to be mixed posts around this, with some people getting through and others not.

    Many thanks

What’s not clear cut? The time the flights are released changed with the move to BST at the weekend.

I meant as in whether its possible to only guarantee CW by ringing bang on T355 (midnight or 1am as it is now) or its possible to book yourself super quick online (assuming all details are pre filled).

Going to try tonight for the first time 2 tickets to HND in CW, wish me luck! I may actually try calling at around 12.45 and also be ready to book myself online. What are the chances I nab all 4 seats lol

    totestornot123 50 posts

I have been through the entirety of that thread! I don’t think its clear cut though as many posters booked online at the stroke of midnight too.

I do have payment card saved, on the safe list (on AMEX), passenger details filled in. I think I could get the booking done in about 30 seconds tops, whether that is faster then the call centre agents I don’t know.

Worst case if we cannot get that later flight, I would try for the earlier morning flight. Flexible of around plus or minus 5/6 days.

Have you hung out in the 241 thread yet. For Japan I think you pretty much had to call, unless your wifi is very fast and have saved your payment method. Also if your dates are pretty fixed, and if I recall that 11.50 flight is only every other day I think you have to be pretty lucky. I mean you could always do both, wait on the phone and book online and see which wins.

So as a test run, I stayed up until 1am to see the flights being released which happened bang on 1am. I wanted to see how long it would take me to get to the final confirmation page. I didn’t submit as I wasn’t sure if I could cancel for free (and what would happen to my 2v1 voucher). In less then 1 min, all the 4 business class seats were unavailable, the 2 PE seats were gone at 1.05am.

I’m in 2 minds about ringing the call centre vs trying to book it myself online. May try the latter once or twice and then try ringing if still unsuccessful. We are trying to book on the days where BA fly at midday from LHR.

    totestornot123 50 posts

From the UK, with the recent time change, I assume we won’t be able to call the USA BA Line anymore to book at T-355 at just before 1am?

Which country’s BA phoneline should we use instead? I’m looking at booking an outbound to Tokyo in the coming days, still unsure whether to book via telephone or try to grab them bang on 1am online. Can call agents hold the tickets before its released at 1am?

Also looking at Tokyo for around this time next year. Slightly off topic but certain days there seem to be a 787 and a 777 flying LHR to Tokyo (and vice versa). If booking Business class, should I be looking at at the 777 flights to have a higher chance of getting a plane with Club Suite?

    many thanks

    totestornot123 50 posts

Off topic but does booking in peak times increase the amount of avios needed for reward flights?

I’m looking to book LHR –> HND end of March next year returning mid April. I currently have enough avios to do this but unable to book my return flight just yet due to T-355.

    TIA

    totestornot123 50 posts

    Yes, no problem mixing cabins.

Thank you appreciated, is this an unwritten rule? I don’t see too many people asking about this, don’t want to get shafted and BA refusing to refund avios by saying both cabins should have been the same inbound and outbound.

    totestornot123 50 posts

Hi All, Still reading my way through this giant thread so apologies if this has been answered (although up to page 18 it hasn’t).

Looking to book a 2v1 to Tokyo for next March in the coming weeks. BAPP 2v1. If we book CW on the outbound, and book the inbound at T-355 but in PE, assuming we book the same avios/cash ratio as the outbound, Will BA later refund 50% of my avios?

This is assuming I book the inbound via the website. Only reason I am considering this is, although we can (just about) afford CW for the return, we are probably going to hit our next 2v1 voucher this year, so its just trying to save some avios where I can.

    TIA

    totestornot123 50 posts

Thanks guys. Yep I do intend to spend some time before I need to book my flights to have a good read over. Need to ensure I have enough Avios to book the inbound regardless, PE wouldn’t be the end of the world.

    totestornot123 50 posts

Seems to be too much information in this thread to feasibly look through, hopefully someone can answer my simple question.

I have the Premium Plus 241 voucher, along with around 200k avios points. Hoping to book CW return tickets from LHR to Tokyo next year, March/April time. I understand I can book my outbound journey when the seats are released 355 days in advance. I can do this on the phone to the USA call centre or just online. My 241 voucher will be used at this point along with some avios (for example, 100k avios + taxes).

When I wish to book my inbound journey, I have to book this using avios only (at the full redemption cost) and then call BA / Twitter to get half my avios returned. My concern with this approach is, considering I only have 200k avios of which 100k is used for the outbound trip, I won’t have enough avios to book 2 CW tickets for the inbound journey as it stands.

Is this how it is? I need to probably have 3-400k avios to begin with to make what I want feasable?

    many thank
