    Hyatt 100 off 250.
    Interestingly, includes hotels outside Europe.

I was pleased to see this pop up as I need to book a stay at one of the hotels on the list regardless (and, unlike the Hilton offer which I also would have used I’ve actually got this one).

Trying to decide what rate to book – does anyone know if it triggers on advance purchase rates or if it needs to be checkout spend?

I booked an advance purchase rate at Hilton LGW South and it seems to have been billed by Excel Hospitality Heathrow .

While the hotel is still on the list of eligible ones , I’m not sure if I’ll get the offer ..

Will post over here if it works.

I am livid with Amex. The lounge access is useless in Bristol because the lounge is so over subscribed (2nd time being here and giving up trying to get in after 30 minute wait).

Saw a restaurant that advertised an £18 reduction for food with priority pass, but it turns out not THAT priority pass that I have (the priority pass guy I just spoke to over the phone says the amex membership is stripped of everything except lounge access.. which as I’ve discovered, is useless)

I’m planning to speed up hitting my 6 k figure and exit out of this.

You can see the lounges etc you can use with the priority pass using the priority pass app

I have two priority passes ( one issued via Amex and another priority pass via another company)

I have both apps on my phone and use them as needed

The PP with the amex one doesn’t have the restaurant credit but can pre book the lounge .( 4 per year )

The PP from another company allows me to use restaurant credit ..

Since the PP lounge food is usually rubbish, i use one priority pass for the restaurant credit and then go to the prebooked PP lounge with the amex PP for drinks

Is your hilton gold status via Amex.. For the UK I have Hiton gold via my Amex platinum and the missus has a supplementary Amex platinum (zero fees for this in UK) and also has hilton gold

If we need two rooms we book one each and each room then has guest benefits. If you want it on same floor can contact hotel and inform in advance

They only look at the number of guests and not whether they are male or female .. These days with everyone having the liberty to choose what they want to be addressed as no one is going to ask .

    ukdoctor 32 posts

Since plutus is fine with utility bills one potential option is to pay excess to your utility provider so that you are in positive balance.. As long as you have a direct debit in place most providers don’t have a problem.

So test this out by paying off a utility bill even when you have a DD set up.. The first month its possible that they may take the DD as well ..But the next bill should be zero or should account for the amount you paid before.

I suggest doing this with small amounts if possible.. like part paying a bill

This works perfectly with sky for example (DD set up as a backup) but I am always in positive balance. So the DD doesn’t trigger.

Cardyard is okay for buying and selling gift cards..But if you are planning to use it with crypto cashback cards then be careful.. Plutus reviews transactions when you try to withdraw and gift card purchases are against the T&c for cashback.. Topping up amazon balance is fine though.

There are two types of hsbc premier ( this is for the islands..I don’t know if this is same for the UK)

You can get HSBC Premier – including a dedicated Relationship Manager – if both of the following apply to you:

You pay your annual income into your HSBC Premier account
You have savings or investments of at least £50,000 with HSBC in Jersey, Guernsey or Isle of Man

You can get HSBC Premier – not including a dedicated Relationship Manager – if you have both of the following:

An individual annual income of at least £75,000, paid into your HSBC Premier account
A mortgage, investment, life insurance or protection product with HSBC in Jersey, Guernsey or Isle of Man
Or if you’ve already qualified for HSBC Premier in another country.

Got an email that they are ‘demising’ the island privileges.

For those who don’t know, island premier customers used to get local offers with some freebies or discounts.

Café Landtmann is also an option if you have something left over. Even a takeaway purchase of pastry etc from the counter at the entrance triggers the credit.

It’s been hit and miss for me when booking 2 rooms, even if I’ve had one room (suite) with 2 adults and 2 kids some hotels have charged me for the kids and some have been free.

Since my HH Gold status is from Platinum (and my wife is supplementary) we are both Gold so I now book 1 room in each name. Now that Hilton allows points transfer to other family members this works well and you actually end up with more points than 2 rooms in 1 name as you hit the bonuses on 2 accounts.

Is your wife also an HH Gold?, can you put her name down on the second room (even if she is staying in your room).

This is exactly what we do. And it works..As long as one of the people registered to a room is gold the other person gets breakfast

Back from Vienna and used the abroad dining credit at the Landtmann . Right across the road from the Christkindlmarkt at Rathausplatz (the “big one”)

You can either dine in or if low on credit get some cake etc from the shop area right after you enter.

Was staying nearby anyway and did not have a reservation (none available for over a week when I checked)

Best time for a walk in seems to be around 11 AM
Can order from the breakfast menu till 11:30 and so can mix breakfast and lunch

If there is an option to sit inside actual cafe I would recommend that. The winter garden area is not as nice.

Are the showers at the Plaza chargeable if you enter with Amex card directly (I know that you have to pay if you use the priority pass given by Amex)

I remember reading somewhere that if you have the option of using Plaza with either Amex direct or the PP from Amex then you had more perks if you use Amex direct

I use the Plaza at T2 at least once a month and the food and beverage options are not great.. I often use the restaurant credit that I get with PP from a non Amex card at the Big smoke tapas bar and restaurant and then head over to the plaza for a sit down ans maybe some soft drinks.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to the T5 Plaza ( was denied entry last two times)

Thanks @Michael_C and @QwertyKnowsBest, we’re big fans of Indian food so I’m deliberating between Gymkhana and Brigadiers, glad to hear that I’m not missing out at Mere!

I think Gymkhana hands down between the 2. But even more so on a Saturday lunch, when the whole Brigadiers area will feel particularly sterile and empty.

Agree with you about the gymkhana.Food was excellent.. Even though I used the dining credit last time I’m planning to visit again.

I recommend the £44 lunch menu

If two of you are going then can order different dishes so that you can taste both .

    On the upcoming changes.
I still haven’t had an email from them telling me my metal limits will change next month.

Don’t they need to give me 30 days notice?

I thought that I did not get one either . But look for an email from Curve in September with the subject line We’ve updated our terms .

The new subscription schedules are inside this email

in reply to: Hilton – Amex £50 back on £200 spend

Hilton prices are still high compared to the HI. I need a stay and park package in December and have provisionally booked Hilton but if an IHG offer pops up in the meantime, I will change it. It’s a bit of a last minute trip so separate parking at T3 was no cheaper.

There’s an IHG sale on at the moment via this link https://www.ihg.com/content/gb/en/deals/hotel-offers/autumn

IHG also has discounts via the blue light card ( nhs/ emergency services/ army etc ).Unlike the Hilton offers which are not very consistent the IHG offers work most of the time .
