@Rob Firstly continued thanks for all your work getting us travelling in the style to which HfP accustoms us.

I’m glad that you are happy with the way the forums are taking off. There is certainly a lot to like (Bendy under control, and Creation Bashing kept in one place… both topics I have active use for, btw), but I’m interested in whether your page views are really comparing apples with apples. I have no idea how this works, but with 70 active threads is a person doing their daily HfP properly not contributing 70 page views rather than the 7 or 8 for the traditional chat thread?

I have found myself posting more since the forums launched, but I am uneasy that this is not a positive sign; previously others would have been answering queries before I got there.

The thing which I would regret most though is if the HfP “community” dwindled to an (admittedly invaluable) factual set of threads; no off-the-cuff humour, little personality on show. A couple of posts have stuck in my mind since the forums launched… paraphrasing now:

    1) someone posting after arriving at their honeymoon hotel (Maldives, maybe?). First reply: post this in the forum rather than the chat thread. It took another couple of replies before the OP got a congratulations. Have my rose-tinted spectacles already turned a shade darker?
    2) A post effectively saying get over your affection for the chat thread, these people are just internet randoms you don’t know at all. Well, I never got a ticket to an HfP party, but this is a site which has brought contributors together in real life to meet each other. More recently we have had the example of one contributor bringing practical help to another stuck in a quarantine hotel.

I think the whole HfP team should be very proud of creating a space under the “Bits” articles, and latterly in the chat threads, where the contributing minority of the readership could feel invested enough to meet in person and go out of their way to help an internet random. I feel it would be a great shame for that to be abandoned, but as to how the site can best accommodate it going forward, I’m afraid I must defer to those with technical know-how.

@RonnieB Thanks for the CP tip. I’ll have a look. Any status recognition?

Kimpton Palomar South Beach would be my recommendation

Thanks for the tip. Will take a look, but doesn’t seem to be included on the 3 for 2 list.

Anyone with thoughts on the IC Miami? I too cancelled a stay in 2020 but was considering a 3 for 2 there this Easter via Emyr.

Tbe general strategy remains unchanged though the specific numbers fluctuate. eg the current bonuses are 25k not 26k for the BAPP, 30k not 35k for the Platinum.

Unfortunately it’s stay by not book by. I think the rule was you need to have the voucher on your account when you check in. Someone else may have more recent experience…

Has anyone raised a complaint about a voucher that should be due from hitting 10k spend in the current year where the current year was only a couple of months? Not sure how to approach that one. They havent refunded the incomplete years annual fee either of course.[/quote]

Well Dec 3 was five months into my year, and the 10k spend was done before the notice of closure.

I’m quite happy to complain that I am due a voucher out of their sorry mess. Personally I don’t see it as a particularly difficult matter to approach. As others have said, essentially I have fulfilled my part of the bargain and Creation are trying to renege on the deal after taking my money.

Their acknowledgement of my complaint suggested that I thought I was already due a voucher (which I guess is part of your complaint) so I put them right. 7 more weeks to wait for their reply, though I’m not expecting anything resembling a “settlement”.

Glad you got a result @Mick S. Enjoy Australia! I left my final voucher on the table in October but ringing Avios a couple of weeks ago about a twice rescheduled voucher flight (fingers crossed for Easter) was so painless compared with trying to contact BA that I was reminded again what a loss this voucher scheme is.

Yes, but except for BAPP or Amex Platinum, which have their own specific 24 month break conditions (no BA card / no MR earning card, respectively)

Can go to a bank account or to another Amex credit card account. You choose when you ring to cancel.

Always a risk that the flight doesn’t go back into reward inventory but I had 100% strike rate booking return online and then cancelling just before ringing up the next day.
