If you are a member of Amazon Prime (although people have reported online that it works for non-Prime members too), you can currently take advantage of a generous gift card discount. This includes – to drag it into a travel focus – Uber and lastminute.com.

It appears that there is a £200 cap on your order and you can only take advantage of the offer once. You cannot pay with Amazon gift cards.

The codes arrived seven minutes after placing my order.

The offers run to 11th October.

  • Bill says:

I don’t seem to be able to buy Uber GC using the gift card balance in my Amazon account.

    • Rob says:

Weird, especially as the article says that Amazon gift cards are blocked from being used for this offer ….. 🙂

    • Nick says:

Correct. And this change only happened in the last few days. Gutted

    • Mankhool says:

I was told by Amazon that after 30th Sept you cannot purchase gift cards using Amazon gift card balance.

      • Peter says:

But not many people were aware of this. I always kept a larger stock at Amazon as it was easy to convert to anything else – and you don’t have to store separate giftcards – just balance. Sadly, it’s all gone now..

  • NorthernLass says:

IIRC the Uber credit can only be used in the UK.

    • davefl says:

Yes Uber currency is not transferrable between countries. But my airport runs are £70-80 return so it gets chewed up quickly

  • Carlos says:

Can you get an Uber+Uber Eats gift card? It seems possible why split them across the two and then offer the combined one?

    • Rob says:

      They are the same thing.

    • Numpty says:

One of the cards for sale is described as Uber and Uber Eats combined, dont know why but its a buy option just in case, but it does all goes into the same Wallet / Credits.

Combined with regular Uber Eats 40% discount codes this will work out nicely.

      • TGLoyalty says:

Just branding. It’s the exact same balance and account. So both apps will use up the credit

  • Nick says:

    What is serendipity?

  • Tiberius says:

According to a Hukd post this stacks with the 10 percent credit if you book a train with Uber so a healthy 15% and 10% off if that is the case…

    • Rob says:

I don’t see why this was ever in question. Uber doesn’t even know you bought your credit at a discount.

      • Tiberius says:

Deliveroo doesnt let you stack gift card credit with their periodic offers / discounts annoyingly.

Should add also that 1 Avios per £1 also on Uber train bookings sweetens the deal even more.

    • Andrew J says:

And don’t forget you’ll also get 1 Avios per £1 when buying your train tickets if your Exec club is connected to your Uber account.

  • TimM says:

The trick appears to use an email address other than the registered Amazon Prime address. I got zero discount until I did this.

  • davefl says:

No it’s in store this time as well. Ends today on my card

  • n166 says:

any idea on whether or not the uber gift card would work abroad? i’m travelling to the US this week and it would come in handy if so!
