London Gatwick has become the first airport in the UK to open a dedicated charging station for electric cars.

The new state-of-the-art GRIDSERVE facility has 30 high-power and low-power vehicle chargers, available 24 hours a day. The fastest chargers can add 100 miles of range in 10 minutes.

It is located on Ring Road South at London Gatwick’s South Terminal and adjacent to the M23.

Whilst you wait, there is high-speed Wi-Fi, a lounge area, Costa Coffee, a Little Fresh convenience store and ‘an interactive EV experience area’.

The facility is not exclusively for passengers and can also be used by local residents, commuters and businesses.

The building is open every day from 4.30am to 10.00pm, with chargers available 24/7 year-round.

Balance Boost: I can’t seem to focus this morning. Am I right in thinking that to get the best value (0.92p per Avios), you would need to boost 100k of earnt & previously unboosted Avios, at a maximum multiplier of x3, for a maximum return of 300k? (assuming you have 100k + of unboosted Avios to utilise).

I think I read somewhere recently that any MR you transfer to BAEC would qualify for this. I’m holding a pot of MR waiting for an exciting transfer bonus somewhere (Hilton one day?), but could be tempted to move some to BAEC if it qualifies and allows me to maximise the boost offer.

    • Rob says:

      Correct.

100% you can boost an Amex MR transfer into Avios – I did such a transfer before Christmas and it shows as boostable.

      • Aston100 says:

        Thanks for confirming.

        • Mikeact says:

I’m happy to have some of this…..just hope the MR points don’t get held up somewhere in the system before the cut off.

          • Erico1875 says:

Am I the only one here that thinks earning 1MR point earned via Amex Gold or Platinum to be boosted versus earning 1.5 Avios to boosted via BA amex is a worst deal in the long run per £ spent?
I understand MR points are more liquid but if you are going to convert them to Avios or boost them, then surely the higher earning rate of the BA card should be priority

  • Rui N. says:

Only £12k to boost all of mine. Will this give extra MR points on Amex Gold?

  • Andrew (@andrewseftel) says:

NB the IHG sale makes it cheaper in some circumstances to ‘buy’ points through the Points & Cash options (because the cash option discounts as well). I haven’t yet found any compelling prices though.

  • Max says:

0.92 for 3x that is the price

  • PeterK says:

Tripple boost for me is at a rate of about 0.9p per avios.

  • Misty says:

It seems to be letting me boost at a cost of £404.92 to get 43,076 Avios, or at a cost of £594.45 to get 64,614 Avios. So both of these offer Avios at 0.9p ? Is it just a matter of selecting which one I want ? Apologies if this has been covered upthread.

  • Chris H says:

Not sure why everyone else is getting £0.009 per Avios, mine is £0.016:

    You selected 674,691 Avios

    1x boosted
    £9,512.04

    2x boosted
    £21,394.07

    3x boosted
    £33,276.10
Boost your balance by 2,024,073 Avios

    • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

See above several comments on this.

The best rate of for the first 300k.

Over that and the rate gets worse.

    • Adam says:

Only the first 300,000 are at 0.09, over that it is a higher price.

    • QFFlyer says:

Yep as others have said, first 300k only. I was being quotes GBP44k for 2.6million or something like that on my OH’s BAEC account 😂

  • ianM says:

Can you still use a confirmable suite upgrade voucher with the reduced IHG points pricing??
