London Gatwick has become the first airport in the UK to open a dedicated charging station for electric cars.

The new state-of-the-art GRIDSERVE facility has 30 high-power and low-power vehicle chargers, available 24 hours a day. The fastest chargers can add 100 miles of range in 10 minutes.

It is located on Ring Road South at London Gatwick’s South Terminal and adjacent to the M23.

Gatwick Airport opens a dedicated EV charging area

Whilst you wait, there is high-speed Wi-Fi, a lounge area, Costa Coffee, a Little Fresh convenience store and ‘an interactive EV experience area’.

The facility is not exclusively for passengers and can also be used by local residents, commuters and businesses.

The building is open every day from 4.30am to 10.00pm, with chargers available 24/7 year-round.

  • QFlyer says:

Avios Boost currently seems to be broken for my OH’s account, yesterday it was fine, not it’s claiming she hasn’t earned a single eligible point in 2023…

  • Fang says:

Avios promo boost not working for me or OH. Was there when I looked on 11th (and had availability), now on 13th – nothing for 2023 to boost for either me or OH. (Have tried via different device – and still the same).
    Anyone else with same problem?

    • Charlotte says:

Yes – exactly the same. Available yesterday. About to do it today – only shows 30 days and seems impossible to get hold of the boost team to rectify prior to the promo expiration…..Maybe somebody turned the promo off a day early….

      • QFlyer says:

Which is bu11sh1t because the terms even specify the precise time the promo should run until, 23:59 13/1 GMT

        • Rob says:

My best guess, having tripped up with this myself, is that someone put in 00.00 13th as the closing time, meaning midnight tonight, but it actually turned off at midnight last night.

          • QFFlyer says:

That makes sense. Should (theoretically) be an easy fix, and at least BA are doing something with it.

    • siamcookies says:

Yes, same issue for me, went online to process this morning, and 2023 transactions not showing. trying to reach them but they may have to fix and extend the deadline if system issue? any further advice here?

  • QFFlyer says:

Ok some useful info from BA’s only chat, thanks to Sophia for this:
“Hi there QFFlyer, there is indeed a technical issue with the balance booster tool this morning. The relevant team are aware and are already working on resolving this. I will pass on your membership number as we are currently giving them numbers how many customers are affected. I would advise to check back with us in a few hours or attempt to boost again in a few hours.”

I asked whether it’d be a case of hoping it’s resolved before 23:59 GMT, or whether it would be extended – this hasn’t been decided yet, and Sophia couldn’t commit to anything either way, which is fair enough. But at least BA are aware and doing something with it.

  • Chris says:

Same problem here but Rob it does say 13 hours etc left on their tick down clock – so maybe they’ve just pulled it

  • PlaneSpeaking says:

It’s now showing my full year…

  • Chris says:

    It’s back up and working!

  • engee1 says:

Showing balance boost but rate for 3x is up from 0.92p to 1.38p per avios so not really worth it anymore.

  • cin4 says:

If anyone is happily paying the prices for this, I’ll happily sell 200k or so avios for 0.1/point less than your quote.
