Radisson Rewards is dropping Avios as a transfer partner

Radisson Rewards, the loyalty scheme for Radisson, Park Inn, Park Plaza, art’otel and various other hotel brands, is dropping Avios as a conversion partner.

The message was tucked away at the bottom of a member email which was on a different topic, so it is likely that you missed it.

The last day to make transfers is 30th September.

Were Avios transfers a good deal?

With the exception of Marriott Bonvoy points, it is generally a poor deal to convert hotel points into airline miles.

However, after the brutal 2023 devaluation, Radisson Rewards transfers into Avios were not as bad as they were.

Radisson Rewards only has three airline partners. These are British Airways (10:1), Flying Blue (Air France KLM) at 10:1 and SAS at 7:1.

If you value a Radisson Rewards point at 0.15p and you value an Avios at 1p, you are losing a third of their value by moving them to Avios. This isn’t terrible.

But online transfers have been broken for years ….

In some ways this is only a philosophical discussion.

You have not been able to transfer Radisson Rewards points to Avios via the online form for, literally, years.

This is the message that has been served since at least the 2023 devaluation:

It wouldn’t surprise me if Radisson is pulling the partnership due to ‘lack of use’ without realising that it is actually impossible to use without contacting the call centre.

I just double checked to make sure that it is still broken after all these years and, yes, it is ….

The Radisson Rewards airline partner page is here if you want to fail to make an online Avios transfer of your own before 30th September – although hopefully the call centre can help if necessary.

PS. The comments below point out a way of doing it online. If you download and go into the Radisson app and add your BA number under ‘Account’ / ‘Radisson Rewards preferences’ / ‘Earning preferences’, you can then use the website to send your points to your pre-stored Avios account number!
