News in brief:

Marriott adds a lounge filter to its booking site

Marriott has added a new filter to marriott.com (although not yet to the iOS app as far as I can tell) to allow you to filter by hotels which offer an Executive Lounge.

This is primarily for the benefit of Platinum Elite and higher members of Marriott Bonvoy, who receive free Executive Lounge access irrespective of the room category they book.

Whilst the quality of lounges varies widely I do find them useful, especially when travelling alone on a busy schedule. I’ve actually switched back from The Ritz Carlton Berlin to the adjacent Marriott Berlin for a future stay, because I missed being able to pop into the lounge for a quick evening snack and drink or for a more casual breakfast.

Unfortunately, at least on my basic testing, the new filter isn’t very good. Search for Paris, for example, and it doesn’t bring up Paris Marriott Opera Ambassador which I reviewed here and which definitely has a lounge – and it is even mentioned in the two line summary on the marriott.com search results page!

Aer Lingus terminal move at Manchester

Whilst there is no date yet for British Airways to move into the ‘new’ Terminal 2 at Manchester Airport, Aer Lingus is ready to make the jump.

As you can see here:

…. Aer Lingus flights from tomorrow, 16th September, will arrive and depart from Terminal 2. It isn’t clear what this means for lounge access for those passengers who qualify.

Norwegian UK flight schedule

Norwegian releases its Summer 2026 UK schedule

We flew Norwegian from London Gatwick to Bergen this summer and found it perfectly fine. I’d happily use it again if it was the most convenient option – and British Airways no longer flies to Bergen.

Norwegian has just put its Summer 2026 schedule on sale, covering flights from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October.

It’s a surprisingly long list, and includes a flight from Newcastle which was news to me.

The full schedule for Summer 2026 is:

London Gatwick to:

  • Norway: Ålesund, Bergen, Oslo, Stavanger, Trondheim
  • Denmark: Billund, Copenhagen
  • Sweden: Gothenburg, Stockholm
  • Finland: Helsinki

Manchester to:

  • Norway: Oslo, Stavanger, Bergen
  • Denmark: Copenhagen
  • Sweden: Stockholm

Edinburgh to:

  • Norway: Bergen, Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm

Newcastle to:

  • Denmark: Copenhagen
